Chapter 641 The Big Deal

Harold let out a sigh, got up, and helped Desiree into her seat. "You don't have to talk to me like that. Since your dad said it, I'll go."

Even though Liam still didn't acknowledge him, Harold already saw Liam as his father-in-law.

With that in mind, how could he not go?

Harold planned to swing by Sandvik Corporation around noon to meet Liam.

Desiree wanted to tag along, but he told her to stay at the company.

After a bit of back and forth, Desiree finally agreed.

Sandvik Corporation.

Standing in front of the towering building, Harold, fresh out of the car, felt a bit jittery.

He'd seen plenty of companies and CEOs before, and compared to the big shots he met while working with Oscar, Sandvik Corporation was pretty standard.

But the nerves just wouldn't quit.

He straightened his tie and walked in.

The receptionist greeted him with a smile. "Hello, sir. Do you have an appointment to see Mr. Sandvik?"

"Yeah, Mr. Sandvik asked me to come," Harold said, keeping it short.

The receptionist's expression stayed neutral as she made a call to confirm.

Soon enough, she let him in.

The chairman's office was on the third floor. Harold got there without any hassle, walking in smoothly.

Even he found it hard to believe.

Liam was sitting in his office, waiting. Without looking up, he said, "Harold, you're here. Have a seat."

Harold's throat tightened.

Anyone who knew him could tell he was nervous.

Looking at Liam, who seemed calm and unchanged, Harold couldn't figure out what he was thinking.

Liam said, "I heard your company’s been having some trouble lately, right?"

Hearing this, Harold felt a bit more at ease. It would've been weird if Liam didn't give him a hard time. "Thanks for your concern, Mr. Sandvik, but we're managing."

Oscar had managed to reclaim quite a few deals.

Though some were still lost, it was way better than having nothing left.

Because of this, the funds were barely recovered, keeping the company afloat. As long as Harold kept things steady, there shouldn't be any major issues.

Liam snorted and tossed his pen down. "Even if you can keep it running, it's still just a small company. Desiree's been pampered since she was a kid. Whatever she wants, I always give her the best. You say you want to marry her, but do you think you can provide her with all this now?"

Liam's imposing presence, honed over years in the business world, was no joke.

Harold felt the pressure.

He clenched his fists, not backing down, and looked Liam straight in the eye. "But that doesn't mean I won't be able to in the future. I've made a promise to Desiree. I will try my best to make it. One day, I will be worthy of the Desiree you've raised so carefully."

"I believe in Harold! Dad, please trust him!" A familiar voice rang out, and Harold was stunned to see Desiree running in.

She threw herself into his arms. When Desiree rushed over, Harold felt his heart race for the first time, something he hadn't even felt under Liam's pressure.

He almost lost his voice, "Why are you running so fast?"

His tone was anxious, but then he softened, afraid of scaring her. "What if you fall? I'm not going anywhere. Don't be in such a hurry."

Desiree pouted, "Why'd you come out alone without me?"

Harold could only manage a wry smile.

He glanced helplessly at her belly.

Both of them knew there was no problem, but in Liam's eyes, it looked like Desiree had suddenly run over and fallen into Harold's arms.

"Desiree, get up!" Liam's angry voice cut through the moment. Realizing her dad was watching, Desiree quickly pulled away from Harold. "Dad..."

"I usually have to drag you to the company, but you came running when Harold was called," Liam said flatly.

Desiree was at a loss for words.

Liam snorted again, looking more displeased with Harold. But he couldn't go back on his word, so he said, "I know someone who wants to outsource a piece of land for building an office tower. The project's big, and the profit's good. If you want it, come back in two days, and I'll take you to negotiate."

Harold glanced at Desiree, who looked guilty and avoided his gaze, and immediately understood what was going on.

He instinctively frowned.

Harold didn't want to accept help from others because there were no free lunches. People helped you only to seek greater benefits later.

But this was Desiree's father, and he had no reason to deceive him.

So, after some hesitation, Harold nodded in agreement.

As they were leaving, Liam wanted to keep Desiree behind. He couldn't stand seeing her always with Harold.

But even he could see that they wanted to talk alone, so he didn't stop them.

A Porsche was quietly parked in the underground garage.

Harold asked, "When did you ask Liam for this cooperation?"

Desiree, sitting in the passenger seat, shifted uncomfortably.

Seeing him still looking at her, she said, "I didn't say anything. He offered it, including asking you to come to the company today. It was all his idea."

Hearing this, Harold was surprised.

Seeing how much Desiree's father disliked him, he thought Liam wouldn't want to see him at all.

He knew something was off, but looking at Desiree's bright and pure face, he couldn't bear to tell her.

So, Harold agreed to go on a business trip with Liam to the neighboring city in two days.

The main purpose of this trip was to meet the partner Liam mentioned and to inspect the land and estimate the price.

If there was profit, he would definitely take the deal.

This time, Desiree didn't insist on going.

She knew her limits. Harold was going on a business trip for work, not for fun.

She already had a hard time with morning sickness and might not adapt well to the new environment.

That was a minor issue. If Liam noticed anything, it would be over.

Two days later, a flight headed to the neighboring Emerald City.

That night, Harold checked into a hotel. With Liam's guidance, he met the partner, a very elegant middle-aged man in a suit, looking refined. He asked, "Mr. Sandvik, who is this with you?"
