Chapter 435 Taking Someone Else's Identity
Jorge's face shifted. "How do you know? Who told you?"
Pearl squinted. "I know a lot. Why else would Carol want me dead?"
Jorge scoffed, then it clicked. "Mr. Mitchell told you. You're a real schemer, fooling him like that."
Jorge's hostility grew.
Pearl shot back, "Why not call Carol vicious?"
"Don't badmouth Ms. Mitchell!" Jorge pressed a knife to Pearl's neck. "You're on the brink of death and still yapping."
Pearl's breath hitched; she didn't dare move.
She trailed behind Jorge, watching him navigate the woods.
He knew the terrain well.
Pearl tried to chat, "You got out quick. Been here often?"
Jorge sneered, "Grew up in the mountains. This forest is nothing. I know every inch."
"How much longer?" Pearl asked.
Jorge glared, "Shut up!"
Pearl stayed quiet.
The forest was tough; they had to walk, no other way.
Pearl was sweating buckets.
She really wanted to meet Carol and find out why Carol wanted her dead.
Was it just because of Louis?
"Did you bring Pearl back or not?" Carol's voice was sharp and angry. "I ask you to do one thing, and you mess it up. Useless!"
"She's back. Jorge brought her."
Carol's anger vanished, raising an eyebrow.
"Good. You didn't disappoint me, or you'd be in big trouble."
Killing everyone here would be easy for her.
But she preferred torturing those she despised.
She smirked, eyes full of malice, and walked out.
Sure enough, Jorge had brought Pearl.
Pearl saw many people waiting, some kneeling with red slap marks on their faces. Carol wasn't kind.
They were all scared of her.
Even her servants were trembling.
Pearl's eyes locked on Carol. Carol wore Eldorian clothes, but something about her seemed familiar.
Yet her face was unfamiliar.
"Ms. Mitchell!" Jorge bowed. "Pearl is captured!"
"I know." Carol replied coldly, walking up and slapping Pearl.
Pearl's head snapped to the side.
"What are you looking at? Kneel!" Carol's eyes were venomous.
Pearl felt Carol hit her with vengeful pleasure, like stepping on her made Carol happy.
A red mark appeared on Pearl's face. She looked up at Carol. "Do I know you?"
Carol paused. "What are you talking about?"
Pearl smiled. "We don't know each other? You went through all this just to slap me? Let me guess, Louis doesn't like you, treats me better, and you're jealous?"
Carol's eyes flared. "Of you? You're nothing compared to me!"
"I don't even know you. Why do you want to kill me?" Pearl stared at her.
"Why are you staring at me?" Carol was unnerved.
"Carol," Pearl muttered. "Is that really your name? Or did you steal someone else's identity?"
