Chapter 433 You Have to Coax Me

Pearl was stunned. She held out her hand, showing her cross bracelet. "What did you say? This is Francesca's keepsake?"

"Yes," Louis said, staring at her wrist.

"No way," Pearl replied, still in disbelief. "How can you be sure? It's just a cross bracelet, not the only one in the world."

"It is," Louis insisted.

Pearl's eyes widened in shock.

"You don't know much about emeralds, do you?" Louis explained. "This area produces unique emeralds. No two are the same. This cross bracelet is Francesca's keepsake, which is why I've been questioning your identity. Are you really just Pearl?"

Pearl clenched her fist, took off the bracelet, and placed it on the table. "It's not mine; a friend gave it to me."

Jeffery had given her the bracelet without much explanation, which was odd. He had said it could bring safety.

Pearl looked at Louis; he didn't seem like a liar.

Louis had noticed the bracelet before and often stared at it, even asking her about it.

The bracelet was connected to him, but that didn't mean it was connected to her.

"I told you, a man gave it to me. If you want answers, only he can explain," Pearl said. "This bracelet is very important to him."

"If it's so important, why did he give it to you?" Louis asked.

Pearl was stumped. "I don't know."

"Maybe you are the rightful owner," Louis suggested.

Pearl quickly denied it. "Impossible. I'm an only child. You must be mistaken, Louis. I won't get involved in your family issues!"

She stood up, ready to leave, but then grabbed the bracelet from the table. "Regardless of whose it is, it's important to my friend, so I'll take it."

"I understand. It's fate that it's with you," Louis said with a smile.

Pearl took the bracelet and hurried away, more confused than ever.

'How could I be connected to Louis? It's impossible,' she thought, quickening her pace.

Louis watched her leave, deep in thought.

When Pearl returned, she saw a bouquet of fresh flowers on the table.

"Who sent these?" she asked, picking them up and smelling them.

"I did," Oscar said, walking in.

Pearl looked at him and then turned away. "Why are you giving me flowers? Trying to cheer me up?"

"If you're upset, I should try to make you happy," Oscar said, taking her hand. "Alright, don't be mad. I didn't mean to doubt you yesterday. I just think Louis's identity is unclear, and you should be cautious."

"You're just jealous," Pearl said.

"No," Oscar denied.

Pearl looked at him. "You can't stand me being around other men. I didn't say anything about your connection with Haley."

Oscar's face turned red. "That was a long time ago."

"And I can't mention it?"

"You can," Oscar said, smiling. "Whatever you say is right."

Seeing him so compliant, Pearl's anger faded.

Just yesterday, she had said she wouldn't talk to him. But after a little coaxing, she felt better again. She was easily swayed.

"Now you realize you were wrong. What were you doing yesterday?" Pearl still felt a bit resentful. "If you had just talked to me then, I wouldn't have been sulking all night."

Oscar's eyes were hard to read. Last night, his poison flared up, so he couldn't be with her.

"I'm sorry," he said.

"I don't want an apology." Pearl pulled away.

Oscar pulled her back. "We were both angry last night. I was afraid we'd argue. I waited until you calmed down before coming over."

In his arms, Pearl gazed into his eyes, which couldn't lie.

Relationships need time.

He didn't really understand what she was thinking.

Pearl said, "Next time I'm angry, you have to try to make me feel better. If you don't, it means you don't care about me. Over time, I'll feel like you don't love me anymore!"

Oscar was taken aback. "Is that so?"

Pearl sat down. "You just realized? That's how women are. We don't say it, but we have a lot on our minds."

"I've learned my lesson," Oscar said. "I don't have much experience. If I'm wrong, just tell me. I'll do whatever you say."

Seeing his sincere attitude, Pearl smiled.

She traced circles on his chest with her finger and asked, "I mentioned Haley earlier. She disappeared, didn't she? Where is she now?"

Oscar told her honestly, "She's not with me. I don't know where she is."

"You're not protecting her?" Pearl asked.

Oscar sighed. "I never loved Haley."

"Who would believe that?"

Oscar explained, "Maybe from your perspective, there was something between us. But the truth is, she's a child of the Brown family. I took her identity, so I had to look after her. I didn't expect her to cause so much trouble."

Pearl rested her chin on her hands, listening to his explanation.

Maybe there were many misunderstandings between them, but neither of them would say it.

They didn't want to talk about it, avoiding the issue.

Besides, Oscar didn't love her back then, so he wouldn't explain.

Over time, their misunderstandings deepened.

Pearl leaned her head on his shoulder. "I believe you."

Upon hearing this, Oscar became very gentle. He put his arm around Pearl's shoulder, his chin resting on her head. "I wish this moment could last longer."

Pearl sensed something was wrong. "Are you leaving?"

"Unless something unexpected happens, we'll leave tomorrow," Oscar said seriously. "Will you come with me?"

Pearl sat up and looked at him with hesitation.

She had made progress.

If she left with him, the clues might be lost.

So she didn't answer him immediately.

Oscar said, "I won't feel at ease if you stay here. I know you're looking for Adrian. I have a way to find him. Once we do, I hope you both can return home and never come back here."

Pearl fell silent again.

She wondered if she was really Louis's sister.

If so, did she have a significant connection with RavenWing?

Pearl's hand trembled slightly.

Actually, she wanted to avoid these issues.

Louis had told her that the cross bracelet could only be worn by his sister, which had scared her.

Pearl stood up, not wanting Oscar to see the turmoil in her eyes. “I’ll give you an answer tomorrow.”

"Okay," Oscar walked up to her and put his arms around her waist. "I've been busy and haven't been able to spend time with you, but once I’m free, I'll make it up to you."

He had a mission and couldn't always be by her side.

"Okay."

Oscar kissed her forehead and then left.

Pearl watched him leave.

As soon as Oscar left, she was about to go inside when she suddenly heard Ricardo crying. "Ms. Harris!"

She turned around and saw Ricardo, his face covered in tears, stumbling towards her and even falling.

Seeing his tear-streaked face, Pearl couldn't bear it. She immediately went out and helped him up. "What's wrong? What happened?"

Ricardo cried even harder. "Paloma is missing!"
