Chapter 541 Buying Flowers

RavenWing ruffled Christopher's hair. "We've all eaten. Hey, buddy, can you go ask Mom and Dad if they've had their grub?"

"Sure thing," Christopher replied, slow but honest.

He then parroted RavenWing's words to Pearl.

Pearl lit up, 'cause that was the longest sentence Christopher had strung together in ages.

"We've eaten, sweetie. And guess what? We bumped into Louis here. Wanna come hang with us?" Pearl asked, giving Oscar a little nudge.

If Christopher said yes, they could bring him along.

Oscar gave Christopher a gentle look. "What do you say, champ? Wanna come?"

Christopher shook his head.

He glanced at RavenWing and said, "I wanna stay with Grandpa. Grandpa's gonna help me get better."

"Alright, buddy. Stick with Grandpa and listen to him. We'll bring you some cool stuff when we get back. And when you're all better, we'll go out and have some fun."

"Okay," Christopher nodded.

No doubt, Christopher was doing way better with RavenWing around. If RavenWing stayed in Willow Creek, not only would Christopher improve, but he could also get closer to Pearl.

By then, Pearl wouldn't have any regrets. Evans and Kittie treated her like their own daughter.

She had friends, and there was also Magdalen.

Pearl chatted with Christopher for a while. Finally, the scene shifted to RavenWing, who gave Pearl some advice before she hung up.

Oscar pulled her into a hug. "Why not let Christopher stay with RavenWing? He can help him get better."

"Isn't he already staying with RavenWing?"

Pearl was hopeful about Christopher's recovery.

"You're really not gonna eat?" Oscar asked, wrapping his arms around her waist.

Pearl shook her head.

But Oscar's hands started to wander, and the next second, he had her pinned down.

Pearl looked up at him, speechless. "Oscar, it's the middle of the day! What are you doing?"

"So what? We gotta make the most of our alone time."

With that, Oscar pulled up the blanket.

She tried to push him away, but under his teasing, she gave in.

The next day, they mapped out a new travel route and hit the road with Louis and Jimena.

As soon as Pearl saw them, she couldn't resist teasing. "How was last night?"

Louis caught her grin and knew she had a hand in it. He just gave her a playful glare.

Pearl smirked. "I'm just helping you guys out. You mad at me?"

"Yeah, I should really thank you!"

Louis said it, but he wasn't actually mad.

They soon reached the viewpoint.

Out of nowhere, Louis and Jimena got separated from Pearl and the others.

Jimena was about to go look for them, but Louis stopped her. "She's got a phone and GPS. She won't get lost. Let's head this way."

Jimena thought about it and realized he was right, so she followed Louis in another direction.

After a few steps, they ran into a little flower seller, Kayla March, who looked about eight, thin, and wearing shabby clothes.

Kayla ran up to Jimena, holding up some flowers. "You're so pretty, wanna buy a bouquet?"

Before Jimena could respond, Kayla added, "I picked these flowers this morning. They're super cheap, and it's buy one get one free."

She was really hungry.

From morning till now, she hadn't sold a single bouquet!

The more she thought about it, the more upset she got, and tears welled up in her eyes.

"How many flowers do you have? I'll buy them all," Jimena said, feeling a pang of sympathy.

Buying flowers was nothing to Jimena, but it meant the world to Kayla.

"Are you serious? All of them?" Kayla was stunned, not quite believing it.

Jimena nodded. "Yep, go ahead and tally up the price."

Kayla's face lit up with joy.

Today must be her lucky day.

She quickly bent down to calculate, even giving a discount.

"Here's the money. Keep it safe and don't let anyone see it," Jimena said, giving her more money than the original price.

Kayla shook her head, refusing to take it. "You gave too much. My flowers aren't worth that much."

"The extra money is for a future order. I'll come back to buy more flowers from you next time," Jimena said as she bent down to pick up the flowers.

She couldn't carry so many by herself, so she turned to Louis for help.

"I got you," Louis said, taking the flowers from the basket.

Kayla counted on her fingers and decided to accept the money Jimena gave. Next time she saw Jimena, she would give her more flowers.

What they didn't notice was a gang of thugs nearby eyeing them menacingly.

"Let's go check out the snacks ahead," Jimena said after arranging the flowers, and she left with Louis.

As soon as they left, the thugs rushed out and snatched the money from Kayla's hands.

"Give me back my money! I earned it!" Kayla shouted as she ran after them.

But how could she outrun these strong thugs?

Jimena heard the commotion and quickly handed the flowers to Louis. "Hold these. I'll be right back."

Before she finished speaking, she was already charging towards the thugs.

Not far ahead, there was a small pond with many people admiring the scenery. The thugs, unable to dodge in time, were caught red-handed by Jimena.

She grabbed the ear of the leader, Ralph Dixon, and scolded him, "How can you steal money from a kid? Give it back to her!"
