Chapter 564 Take Her Away
After knocking back her drink, Magdalen knew something was off. With her usual tolerance, she shouldn't be feeling this woozy. Someone must've spiked her drink.
But it was too late; she was not just dizzy but also feeling like her legs were jelly.
She'd been drugged, and it had Marvin's fingerprints all over it.
Without overthinking, she sidled up to Nicole and asked, "Hey, did you drive? I'm feeling kinda off. Can you give me a lift?"
Nicole shot a quick look at Marvin and nodded. "Yeah, sure. I haven't had a drop."
He helped Magdalen out, giving Marvin a signal when Magdalen wasn't looking. Marvin slipped out through another exit and got in the car ahead of them.
Nicole opened the car door, and Magdalen saw Marvin sitting in the passenger seat, looking annoyed. "What's he doing here?"
"He's my buddy. We came together, so I gotta take him too. Don't worry, I'll drop you off first." Nicole's words set off alarm bells in Magdalen's head.
She yanked herself free from Nicole's grip and backed away, eyes darting around for help. These two were definitely up to no good.
Marvin noticed and barked, "Get her in the car, you idiot."
Nicole lunged at Magdalen, who panicked and yelled, "Help! Somebody help!"
A guy rushed out from the hotel entrance, but another dude was even quicker.
He sprinted over from the convenience store across the street, took down Nicole in a few swift moves, and shielded Magdalen behind him.
Marvin got out of the car, glaring. "You think you're some kind of hero? Got the guts for it?"
He pulled out a knife and stepped closer.
"Marvin, you better back off, or I'll make sure you regret it." Magdalen wanted to mention Oscar but held back, knowing it would only make things worse.
Marvin sneered, "Oh yeah? Can't wait to see you try."
He squinted at the newcomer, warning, "You still got time to get away. Otherwise, you're toast."
"When did Willow Creek turn into the Wild West? Women getting snatched? You're Marvin, right? That wannabe model? Your work's decent, but you suck." The newcomer wasn't fazed and kept talking smack.
"Cut the crap. This ain't your business. Move." Marvin, insulted, was fuming.
The newcomer chuckled and suddenly rushed over, taking Marvin down in one swift move. He was quick, like he'd been trained for this. Marvin struggled, pinned under his foot.
The new guy uttered, "You wanna get hauled off by the cops, or..."
Suddenly, Magdalen fainted before the guy could finish his words.
The thud of her hitting the ground startled them. The newcomer quickly let go of Marvin and scooped up Magdalen.
Just then, a cold wind blew from behind. He dodged Marvin's attack with ease and kicked him away.
With a scream, Marvin was out cold.
He turned to Nicole. "Turn yourself in. If you don't, you'll wish you had."
With that, he carried Magdalen across the street, while Oscar stood at the entrance, grinning.
A subordinate whispered, "Mr. Brown, aren't you gonna go after them?"
"No need. He is from the Davies family, seems they are back in Willow Creek." Oscar recognized the guy as Archie Davies, the free-spirited dude from the Davies clan who'd been globe-trotting since he was a kid.
The Davies family was all about strict upbringing. They might not be the most successful, but their character was top-notch.
Oscar figured Archie wouldn't harm Magdalen. And even if he did...
A sly grin spread across Oscar's face. He wouldn't mind pushing for a marriage between Magdalen and Archie. Tying the knot with the Davies family could be a sweet deal.
"But Mr. Brown, they dosed Ms. Brown with some heavy-duty aphrodisiac." Hearing this, Oscar's eyebrows shot up. Could this actually turn out to be a good thing?
At the hospital, Archie was pacing outside the emergency room, making a call.
Whatever was said on the other end made his eyes flash with anger. "So Grandma insists I go on a blind date? But I hate setups. Figure something out, and I'll put in a good word for you for the hotel manager gig."
After another response, he sighed in frustration, "If I had a solution, I wouldn't be asking you."
Just then, the emergency room door swung open, and the doctor stepped out. Archie quickly hung up and rushed over, asking, "Doc, how is she?"
"She was drugged, but we've given her an injection to counteract it. The drug's pretty strong, so it'll take time. If she's feeling okay by tomorrow morning, she can go home. If not, she'll need more meds," the doctor explained.
Archie nodded, thanked the doctor, and headed to the ward.
Thanks to the drug, Magdalen was out cold. She looked like a sleeping beauty, and Archie was momentarily taken aback.
Her beauty wasn't like other girls her age, who lacked experience. It had a certain allure.
Archie suddenly had an idea. He called the butler to bring breakfast to the hospital. Then he crashed on the sofa and dozed off.
In the morning, a phone ringing woke them both. Archie answered the call. "What do you want? Calling me this early?"
"I'm already at the hospital. Which department should I go to?" Hearing the butler's words, Archie jumped off the sofa and ran to the door to give the room number.
Magdalen recognized him as the guy who saved her last night. After he finished the call, she smiled and thanked him. "Thanks for last night. My name is..."
Archie cut her off, "Listen up. Someone's coming soon. No matter what they ask or what I say, stay quiet. Just nod when I give you the signal."
Magdalen was a bit hesitant but remembered he was her savior and decided to go along with it.
Just as she was about to ask for more details, the door opened, and an elderly man with white hair and a beard walked in, holding a thermos. "Here's breakfast. And this is..."
"My girlfriend. I didn't want you to meet her so soon, but I can't stand the food outside, so..." Archie shrugged, looking helpless.
Magdalen was stunned. When did she become his girlfriend? She didn't even know his name.
She was about to explain when she saw Archie shaking his head at her. Remembering her promise, she kept quiet.
