Chapter 760 Should I Apologize?

"Mrs. Jade Egan, Mr. Nathaniel Egan's already gone for the paternity test," the butler reported.

Jade immediately knocked the teacup off the table, sending it crashing to the floor.

The sharp sound of breaking porcelain filled the room, shards scattering everywhere.

"Once those results are in, Saskia will probably waltz that sick kid right into our home and use him to pressure Nathaniel into marrying her!" Jade sneered.

She had never thought highly of Saskia.

Coming from a modest background, what could Saskia possibly offer the Egan family?

And her genes weren't exactly top-notch—having a sick child who needed costly medical treatment.

Of course, the Egan family could afford the medical bills, but the real issue was that Nathaniel was supposed to be the future heir. Could they really allow a sickly child to be his successor? Absolutely not!

"I don't care if the child is Nathaniel's or not. The paternity test must show that he isn't," Jade ordered with a frown. "If you can't get this right, you won't be welcome here anymore."

"Yes, Mrs. Jade Egan, I'll take care of it right away," the butler responded hastily.

Even after making all the arrangements, Jade still felt uneasy.

She decided to meet with Saskia and arranged to meet her at a café.

When they met, Jade placed her luxurious leather handbag on the table.

The cost of that bag was more than Saskia could hope to earn in a lifetime.

Not to mention Jade's designer outfit and the jewelry on her neck and wrists, each piece worth a fortune.

In contrast, Saskia wore faded jeans and a simple top, her entire outfit worth less than two hundred dollars.

She was visibly nervous. "Mrs. Egan, you wanted to see me?"

"I heard you and Nathaniel are back together, Ms. Fuller. When you took my money, you should have kept your word. Those who deceive me don't end well," Jade said calmly, but the threat was clear to Saskia.

"It wasn't my intention to meet him," Saskia said, her voice trembling.

She never expected Nathaniel to go to such lengths to get close to Azalea, and now they had a child and were engaged.

It was Nathaniel who wouldn't let Saskia go.

But she couldn't say that to Jade, who wouldn't want to hear it.

In fact, Jade didn't give Saskia a chance to speak. "So, Ms. Fuller, are you saying my son is the one pestering you? Should I apologize to you on his behalf?"

"No, Mrs. Egan, you've misunderstood," Saskia said and quickly shook her head.

She couldn't possibly expect Jade to stoop to her level; Saskia wasn't ready to end her life just yet.

"I only believe what I see. Ms. Fuller, this is your son's medical record," Jade said, pulling out the original document, not just a copy.

This proved that she had already tracked down the hospital.

Saskia's heart sank at Jade's words. "Mrs. Egan, please don't hurt my son. I'll leave Nathaniel; I'll go abroad and stay far away from him. We won't have to see each other again.""I thought if you left, he'd move on, but he hasn't. He still can't forget you," Jade continued, ignoring Saskia's plea.

No matter who approached whom first, Nathaniel still had feelings for Saskia.

So, simply sending Saskia away wouldn't work this time.

The unattainable always stirred the heartstrings.

Jade knew she could keep them apart for a while, but not forever. If they crossed paths again, it would spark like wildfire.

"Make him hate you, make him give up on you. If you can do that, I'll take care of all of Benjamin's medical bills and your living expenses for the rest of your lives. If you can't, then neither of you will have a future," Jade declared, sealing their fate with her cold words.

If she wanted Benjamin dead, she had countless ways to do it, and Saskia couldn't stop her.

As an ordinary person, Saskia had no way to fight the Egan family.

Her only option was to make Nathaniel hate her, as Jade demanded.

But Nathaniel already despised her; he just wouldn't let her go. What could she do in this situation?

"I'll give you three months. In three months, Nathaniel will marry another wealthy heiress, and you two must be completely out of his life. My patience is limited. This coffee is on me," Jade said, standing up and leaving with her bag.

Saskia was left sitting alone.

The two cups of coffee on the table sat untouched, and she had no desire to drink them.

Jade's words echoed in Saskia's mind over and over.

Azalea was also planning to marry Nathaniel in three months. Nathaniel would definitely make a dramatic scene at the wedding.

Saskia only had three months.

She sat in the café for a long time, until she remembered what Nathaniel had said and hurried out.

There was a bus stop right outside the café. Saskia hesitated for a moment between taking the bus or a cab, ultimately choosing the former.

She didn't have much money, and taking a cab would leave her with nothing.

After getting off the bus, she ran all the way home.

Despite her efforts, she was still two minutes late.

Yet Nathaniel was already sitting on the couch, with Azalea beside him, both smiling and chatting.

"Saskia, you're back! Nathaniel just sliced up some fruit. Come join us," Azalea said, looking up.

She pushed the fruit plate towards Saskia. "How's Benjamin doing?"

"He's doing well," Saskia replied, not wanting to discuss Benjamin's condition with Nathaniel present.

But she couldn't say that outright.

As she thought about shifting the topic, Azalea took a card out of her bag. "I sold all the jewelry today. The money is on this card. Use it for Benjamin's treatment. George will get his paycheck soon, and we'll keep two thousand dollars for household expenses. The rest is for you."

"How much more do you need for Benjamin's medical bills?" Nathaniel asked.

Azalea sighed. "A lot. Benjamin's condition is serious, and the new medications from abroad are really costly."

Otherwise, Saskia wouldn't be so anxious. No matter how hard she worked, she just couldn't earn money quickly enough.
