Chapter 533 Matching Rings

Louis just didn't give a damn.

Outta nowhere, Jimena ditched him and took on those folks solo.

Seeing Jimena in that wheelchair, still going toe-to-toe with them, Louis felt a tug at his heart. He marched right over to her.

The loudmouths suddenly zipped it, their faces going pale.

A cold smirk played on Louis's lips. "Go on, if you forgot, need me to jog your memory?"

"Mr. Mitchell, we're sorry. We were just gossiping, didn't mean to spread it. Please, cut us some slack."

"Mr. Mitchell, please forgive us!"

They all bowed and begged.

Louis gave them a frosty once-over. "Since you know you messed up, slap yourselves two hundred times to remember this lesson!"

"Yes, sir."

They answered in unison, and the next second, the sound of slaps filled the air.

Louis didn't give them another glance and turned to push Jimena away.

Jimena was floored.

She couldn't believe Louis had her back like that. It was unreal!

"Don't be so reckless next time," Louis muttered as he pushed her.

Jimena had vanished in no time, leaving him searching high and low. It turned out she was here, arguing with those people.

Jimena bit her lip, feeling uneasy. She had planned to handle them on the down-low.

But things didn't go as planned, and Louis found out. In the end, he had to step in.

She felt guilty. "I wanted to help. Didn't think I'd be useless. I'm sorry."

"It's not your fault, I don't blame you. But you're not allowed out unless it's important. And even then, wait till you're fully healed."

Louis was worried her condition would get worse if she heard this stuff before she was better.

Jimena got where he was coming from and said calmly, "We haven't done anything wrong. They're the ones gossiping. Why should we hide? I want to face it head-on. I'm not scared!"

She wouldn't let anything happen to herself.

She couldn't let herself go down, so why let some trash talk get to her?

"You're right. But words can sting."

"I'm not scared."

She couldn't afford to be scared.

"I wanna buy matching rings," Jimena suggested.

The more they talked, the more she wanted it.

Louis was quiet for a moment, then said softly, "Alright, let's go."

If that were what Jimena wanted, he'd make it happen.

Soon, Louis took Jimena to the mall. Over the years, Eldoria had thrived under Louis's leadership. It wasn't Tranquiloria, but it was way better than before.

The mall was buzzing.

Jimena went to a counter and picked out a pair of rings.

The women's ring was a diamond one, with small diamonds and a big heart-shaped diamond sparkling under the light.

The men's ring, though not as flashy, had a circle of small diamonds, looking pretty slick.

The coolest part? You could get 'em engraved.

Jimena turned to Louis. "Can we get our names on them? In a month, I'll take your ring and I'll cover the expense."

She was worried Louis might say no. She'd thought of everything, just didn't want to make him feel weird.

Louis wasn't gonna feel weird, but no way was he letting her pay.

"If you wanna engrave names, go for it. I'll take care of the bill," Louis said, his voice low.

He shot the sales clerk a look. "I'll buy it, and..."

Jimena cut in, "No need to wrap 'em. We'll wear 'em right now."

Her eyes were lit up with hope, joy, and excitement.

When she reached out her hand, she was so eager.

Louis didn't say no. When the ring slid onto Jimena's finger, she was over the moon. The ring was gorgeous, and they matched perfectly.

Even if they could only be a couple for a month, Louis had come to terms with it, and so had she.

"How about we split the cost?"

Jimena didn't want Louis to foot the whole bill.

Louis said flatly, "I don't let women pay."

Jimena didn't argue, but her heart felt warm. Any relationship starts with sharing time and money.

"What do you wanna eat?" Louis asked as he pushed her out, giving her time to think.

Jimena thought for a moment. "Anything's cool. I'm thinking of visiting Pearl."

"If you're feeling up to it, then sure."

Pearl and Jimena had always gotten along. If Jimena wanted to make this call, he wouldn't stop her.

"Okay." Jimena was full of anticipation.

Meanwhile, Pearl and Oscar had rolled back into Willow Creek three days ago. They went back to their old place, Serenity Haven Estates, and Oscar had also met up with Alfonso.

Hathaway was now in a nursing home in Willow Creek.

Alfonso, on the other hand, had a new family.

The Brown family Estate still had servants who kept it clean, but Alfonso didn't live there. The Brown Group was run by Harold and Magdalen.

Alfonso had shares in the Brown Group, but no real power. He never planned to fight for it; it still belonged to the Brown family.

Until Alfonso saw Oscar and Pearl, and the kid they were holding, Christopher.

Alfonso knew the Brown Group wouldn't belong to the Brown family anymore but to Oscar.

Pearl also had shares, so the Brown Group had become an outsider's property. Alfonso was ticked and had mentioned it to Oscar, but they split on bad terms.

Today, Alfonso sought out Oscar again.

Alfonso spoke coldly, "You're not even part of the Brown family. Isn't it fair to ask you to give this stuff back? Even if you don't want to, your siblings need money to live." Alfonso hadn't fought for it before, but he got money every month.

He had no real power, but his kids did.

Now that Oscar and Pearl were here, what did his kids have left?

"Haven't you been getting the Brown Group's monthly payments? If not, then give back all the money you've taken."
