Chapter 458 Some Things You Have to Believe
Pearl called out to Chiara.
Chiara paused for a few seconds, then kept walking.
Pearl rushed in front of her. "You've been suffering here for so long. Don't you have any thoughts about it?"
Pearl grabbed her wrist.
Of course, Chiara had thoughts. But she was a slave. RavenWing's men were tough and armed. Even if she had ideas, she was powerless. Plus, not everyone could be united.
The torment here was endless, and some people had become numb from the suffering.
"I just want to survive. If I can't, then I want a quick death," Chiara said with a bitter smile.
Pearl fell silent.
Chiara was only in her teens, but her bitter smile and the look in her eyes made her seem much older.
Pearl patted her shoulder. "If we're going to die anyway, we might as well make it count. I have a plan."
Chiara saw the determination in Pearl's eyes and finally hesitated.
Carol stormed back to her place.
She had one thought: she wanted Pearl dead.
But when she went to find Pearl, Louis saw them arguing and sided with Pearl without asking anything.
If she made a move, Louis would definitely have an issue with her, so she went to find Kevin.
But Kevin's people stopped her at the door. "Ms. Mitchell, Mr. Garcia is not available now."
Carol was stunned.
It was one thing for Louis to ignore her, but now Kevin wouldn't see her either.
"Do you know who I am? How dare you stop me? What is Mr. Garcia doing that he won't even see me?" Carol fumed.
Already furious from her encounter with Pearl, her anger flared up even more.
She thought, 'These people must have a death wish!'
The subordinate stood respectfully, trembling. "Ms. Mitchell, I don't know what Mr. Garcia is doing. He just said no one is to enter. He'll come out to find you when he's done."
Carol's chest heaved with anger, but she could do nothing.
She could only wait impatiently outside the door.
Inside, Kevin stood in front of Jeffery, who was submerged in a glass container.
Jeffery was completely naked, surrounded by a thick liquid that smelled awful.
Jeffery's blue eyes were bloodshot.
"Jeffery, to get you to this point, RavenWing has put in a lot of effort," Kevin said, holding a test tube filled with crimson blood drawn from Jeffery. Once purified, it was a precious treasure.
Jeffery had come to him willingly, allowing him to create new drugs. Soon, he would surpass RavenWing.
"You want to surpass RavenWing?" Jeffery saw through Kevin's thoughts and mocked. "You don't have RavenWing's vision. You'll never become RavenWing."
Over the years, Kevin had been loyal to RavenWing, but secretly, he had been doing things to oppose him. He had been studying RavenWing, thinking he could surpass him.
But he lacked the ability to succeed.
Kevin narrowed his eyes; he didn't like being defied.
He waved his hand, and someone threw a cobra into the container. The cobra coiled around Jeffery's neck and bit down.
Jeffery only frowned, not making a sound.
He had endured far worse, and Kevin kept him alive because he was useful.
So, Kevin wouldn't let him die.
A sarcastic smile appeared on Jeffery's lips. "You better kill me."
Otherwise, as long as he lived, he would seek revenge on Kevin.
Kevin's smile deepened. "Jeffery, do you think I'll give you that chance? Or, what do you think RavenWing will do when he sees his prized creation return?"
RavenWing would be delighted to see Jeffery, perhaps even more fanatical.
But none of this mattered to Jeffery. He had anticipated the worst but still hoped for the best.
He just hadn't expected to be captured by Kevin.
"Then why haven't you sent me to RavenWing? Kevin, you know exactly what you're hiding!"
Jeffery's face was pale, and the black blood on his lips was striking.
In the end, Jeffery passed out.
Kevin's smile grew more triumphant.
He didn't stay long. After leaving the room, he saw Carol standing at the door and frowned. "What are you doing here?"
He had instructed Carol not to come over, but she completely ignored his words!
"I need to talk to you."
Carol didn't hide her intentions and took a step closer to Kevin.
Kevin's face was cold as he gave Carol a look, and they went to another room.
Once inside, Kevin didn't hold back his anger. "Can you think twice before acting? We're inside the Eldorians now, not like before! Do you still think you can do whatever you want? Can you consider the consequences before acting?"
Know what to do and what not to do!
Though Kevin didn't say this, Carol understood. She pressed her lips together. "Pearl is also inside the Eldorians, and Louis treats her so well, which puts us in danger. I can't target Pearl anymore."
"So, you came to ask me to kill Pearl?" Kevin said bluntly.
Carol nodded. "Yes."
Kevin's strikes would be faster, more precise, and more ruthless than hers.
And with Kevin's current status, even if Louis saw Pearl die at Kevin's hands, he couldn't say anything.
"Then why is Pearl here?"
Kevin's face showed no emotion, only a growing, boundless anger.
Pearl was here because Carol had brought her in.
Carol lowered her head, feeling guilty. "I just wanted to teach her a lesson and make her die inside the Eldorians. But I didn't expect Louis to treat her so well."
There are some things they couldn't deny, like the ties of blood.
"There are many things you didn't expect. From now on, you must be responsible for your actions. If you ruin my plans, I won't let you off."
Carol sensed the menace in Kevin's words and shivered.
