Chapter 84 No Responsibility to Help You

<Chapter>Chapter 84 No Responsibility to Help You </Chapter>

Oscar stood at the doorway, feeling uneasy. He had never liked noise, especially not the sound of people arguing, particularly at his father-in-law's sickbed.

Upon hearing the voice, the mother and daughter stopped their crying, turning to look at Oscar.

Pearl, too, looked up, surprised to see Oscar there.

She hadn't informed him about this, and asked, "Why are you here?"

Oscar looked at her and said, "The hospital director called me and said Dad was ill, so I rushed over from the company."

"Hello," he greeted them first. Seeing Evans with a cast on his hand, he asked, "How are you doing?"

Pearl replied, "He fractured his hand bone, and needs a few days of rest."

Oscar glanced around the crowded and noisy room, his expression turning into a frown. "It's too noisy here, it's affecting Dad's rest. I'll have someone transfer him to the VIP ward."

"No need, I'm not bothered by the noise. Oscar, please don't bother with transferring me," Evans interjected, looking directly at Oscar.

Although he was not entirely satisfied with Oscar, he cared a lot about Pearl. He had no choice but to say, "I only have a minor fracture. Why did all of you come here? Just go back to work. Your mom's company is enough for me."

Pearl, visibly concerned, chimed in, "We won't let this interfere with our work."

Although Oscar wanted to provide him with the best environment, he also respected his wishes. "It's crowded here, can you really handle it?"

Evans replied, "I can. The people next door are all old, they can still talk to me."

Oscar understood him and didn't say anything more.

Olivia thought to herself, 'Evans only has one daughter, when did he have a son?'

Seeing Oscar being so friendly to Evans and so gentle to Pearl, she suspected that he was their son-in-law.

Olivia stood up again and asked, "Pearl, who is this person next to you? Is he your husband?"

She acted as if she had already confirmed their relationship and continued with a smile, saying, "So you got married. Why didn't you tell us? You're my niece, after all. We should give you a wedding gift."

She then looked at Evans and Kittie. "Evans, Kittie, Pearl got married. Why didn't you inform us?"

Oscar didn't have much contact with the Wilson family's relatives.

He only spent time with his parents-in-law a few times a year, but whenever he knew they had difficulties, he would help them.

As for those relatives, he had never met them.

Pearl sawOlivia being so attentive and knew that she was starting to ask for Oscar's help again.

However, with Oscar now addressing Evans as "dad," she couldn't keep up the charade any longer. So she introduced, "Oscar, this isOlivia, and this is my cousin Isabelle."

"I'mOlivia,"Olivia said with a smile.

"Brother-in-law, I'm Isabelle," Isabelle addressed Oscar as "brother-in-law" as soon as she spoke, even though it was their first meeting.

Oscar was polite to the Wilson family and nodded his head.

Looking at him, Isabelle felt more and more familiar. She suddenly realized and excitedly said, "Ah, I know now, brother-in-law is Pearl's boss, the CEO of Brown Group."

She happily exclaimed, "Pearl, you married into a wealthy family. Why didn't you tell us? This is something to be happy about!"

Olivia, upon seeing him, felt that his appearance and attire were different from ordinary people. It turned out he really was a wealthy person.
No wonder she had felt that Pearl had changed after starting work; marrying a rich man was certainly different.

Why didn't she think of it before?

"So he's the nephew-in-law,"Olivia smiled warmly. "Since it's our first meeting, I didn't bring anything. I apologize for that."

Olivia's sudden change in demeanor made Pearl and her whole family silent.

"Hey, brother-in-law," Isabelle addressed him, feeling it was better to ask Oscar than Pearl, as he had more influence.

"I'm starting my internship in a month. Can I work at your company? I have nowhere else to go temporarily. I just need the internship certificate, and I won't interfere with your affairs."

Olivia chimed in, "As Pearl's relatives, we hope you can assist Isabelle in securing a good job opportunity for her future."

Pearl frowned.

Olivia was just taking advantage of Oscar being her husband, wanting to gain extra advantage from him.

It was fine when their family asked for help before, but now they want to ask Oscar for help.

She couldn't help but look at Oscar, afraid that he would be upset with her family, especially since it was the first time they met.

Besides, her relationship with Oscar was not intimate enough for him to mediate a potentially contentious situation.

This was also dragging her down.

Pearl knew very well that she couldn't let the Wilson family be like this; if there was a first one, there would be a second one. She politely said, "Olivia, Oscar has no obligation to help you, please don't put him in a difficult situation!"

Olivia looked at her. "We didn't ask you, we asked Oscar. Oh, right, I understand now, you married Oscar to pay off that two million dollars, right?"

Then, she turned to Evans. "Evans, this is your fault. You have such a good son-in-law and you didn't tell us. If you had told us, we wouldn't be so worried now!"

Evans had never felt so embarrassed before and angrily said, "Olivia, you're going too far, and don't expect Oscar to help!"

Olivia continued, "Oh come on, we're all family, he won't mind. When family is in trouble, we should help each other. That amount of money is nothing to Oscar."

She looked at Oscar. "Right, Oscar?"

Oscar remained silent, his gaze only on Pearl.

It all depended on her.

If she spoke up about the Wilson family's matter, he wouldn't hesitate to help.

But if she didn't like it, he wouldn't help either.
Pearl was afraid that Oscar would know too many terrible things about their family and didn't wantOlivia to say such disgusting words. She quickly said, "Olivia, we don't welcome you here, so please leave!"
She pulledOlivia, trying to kick her out.
Olivia refused to leave and exclaimed, "Pearl, why are you still kicking me out? You're so impolite!"
"Cousin Pearl, I haven't talked much with my brother-in-law yet, you don't have to do this." Isabelle also refused to leave.
"You both leave. Evans needs rest!" Kittie urged them to leave.
Olivia looked at Oscar. "Oscar, I don't need much. Just pay back the money Tom owes."
The door closed, finally blocking out their voices.
Evans sighed, feeling the severity of his headache. He glanced at Oscar once more and whispered, "Oscar, I'm sorry for subjecting you to this embarrassment."
He felt ashamed to have to ask Oscar for help again. The thought of burdening Oscar weighed heavily on him.

Oscar said, "Dad, don't say that. If you have any difficulties, I will naturally help."
Pearl angrily said, "Don't interfere inOlivia's affairs!"
Oscar looked at Pearl and softly said, "Okay, I'll listen to you."
His words made Pearl pause, feeling uncomfortable again in front of her parents.
