Chapter 584 No Need to Test Anymore
"He went to school," Oscar said, pouring her a glass of water. "I think it's better for him to focus on his studies, even though he's just in kindergarten."
Kindergarten didn't teach reading yet, but they had group activities, and the vibe was good.
Oscar always had a beef with the entertainment industry because of Haley. She was cool at first, but once she got into the biz, she started changing bit by bit.
Christopher was still a kid, and Oscar had plenty of cash. If Christopher wanted to get into the entertainment scene later on, he could.
"I've been hanging with Christopher so much lately that I feel kinda lost without him," Pearl said, feeling a bit down.
Oscar stroked her cheek. "I get it. We'll pick up Christopher together this afternoon."
"Okay."
That day, Oscar stuck by Pearl's side the whole time. Pearl had never seen him handle documents, so she was surprised. "Aren't you busy?"
Oscar said, "Harold's got the company covered, and I just hired a new secretary who's on a trial run today. I'm planning to step back and spend more time with you and Christopher."
He had been thinking about spending more time with them, but ever since he came back, he had been swamped.
He had to deal with those scheming higher-ups, including Alfonso who wanted money.
Even though the wedding was grand, people tended to overlook the fact that Pearl was his wife and always tried to interfere with Pearl and Christopher.
Pearl asked, "What about Harold? Aren't you giving him a break?"
When they couldn't manage the Brown Group, Harold had been holding it down for five years. He even followed them to Eldorians recently. Now Oscar was making Harold train a newcomer.
Oscar hugged her. "Having him train a newcomer is exactly how we're giving him a break."
With that, Pearl got it.
In the afternoon, they got to the kindergarten on time. Christopher was stoked to see them and shouted, "Daddy, Mommy!"
Since they had been with Christopher, and with RavenWing's care, plus his time at school and in the entertainment industry, Christopher now spoke fluently, without any signs of being shy or stuttering, and he was super lively.
Despite the drama at kindergarten last time, he had now made new friends.
Christopher looked at Pearl with hopeful eyes. "Mommy, can you give me a little sister?"
Christopher's words made Pearl instinctively look at Oscar.
Oscar shrugged, looking all innocent.
Pearl gently held Christopher's hand. "Christopher, having a little sister isn't something that happens just because you want it."
Oscar had mentioned wanting another kid, but considering Christopher, she had been using contraception. Now Christopher said he wanted one.
"Mommy, I really want a little brother or sister, preferably a sister. I can earn money to buy her lots of pretty dresses and Barbie dolls," Christopher said, his face full of longing.
Oscar chimed in, "It's not just Christopher who wants one, even I do. Why don't we give it a shot for a while?"
"If it doesn't happen, we can also check early to see if there's any issue, right?" Oscar had thought of all the possibilities.
Pearl gave him a playful glare.
"Mommy," Christopher said, shaking Pearl's hand and turning on the charm.
Oscar, catching on quick, added softly, "Honey."
Pearl couldn't resist. "You two, knock it off! Can we go home first?"
They were already talking about having another kid right there at the kindergarten gate.
Pearl and Oscar might be an old married couple, but they couldn't be so shameless. If someone, or worse, a reporter, caught them, it would be all over the news.
"Alright, let's go home and make a baby!" Oscar said, putting his arm around Pearl's shoulder and leading her to the car. He was holding Christopher's hand with his left, but Christopher ran over to Pearl's side.
Pearl didn't say anything, but her eyes were full of deep and meaningful looks at Oscar.
As soon as they got home, RavenWing came to greet them.
Now that Louis and Jimena were working hard for Eldorians, he had stepped down and was pretty free. Ever since Christopher sought him out last time, he hadn remained here.
"Grandpa!" Christopher had a great relationship with RavenWing. Seeing him, Christopher ran towards him.
RavenWing indulgently picked Christopher up. "Come on, I'll take you out to play."
"We just got back..." Pearl hadn't finished her sentence when Oscar grabbed her waist, pressing close to her, his lips brushing her earlobe. "If RavenWing doesn't take Christopher away, how can we start our baby-making plan?"
Pearl was instantly embarrassed and annoyed, pushing against Oscar's chest.
Oscar laughed instead of getting angry. "Honey, this kind of thing should be done early! And it should be fun!"
With that, Oscar picked Pearl up by the waist.
RavenWing hadn't gone far with Christopher, so she didn't dare make any big moves.
Her strength was no match for Oscar's, and within a few minutes, she was defeated.
Meanwhile, Harold had to train a newcomer, Desiree Sandvik, who came from a wealthy family.
However, Desiree got into the Brown Group purely on her own merit, without leveraging her background at all.
For contract documents, Harold only needed to explain and demonstrate once, and she got it.
Harold couldn't help but sigh. "If you had come to the company earlier, I wouldn't have had such a hard time!" he said, stretching his muscles.
He had held it all together by himself for five years, only seeking Magdalen's help at critical moments.
Desiree was very modest. "I'm just starting, so I'm doing well. Maybe over time, you'll find my flaws, and then..."
"Isn't it practice makes perfect? With your qualifications, if any issues arise, they won't be fatal. Alright, you handle this case, and we'll discuss the cooperation tonight," Harold interrupted Desiree, handing over the contract case directly.
Desiree glanced at it, which was a collaboration with the Roberts Group and the Lee Group.
There was even a legal advisor, Nathaniel.
These people were Oscar's close friends, weren't they?
This cooperation being handed directly to her couldn't just be a matter of trust. Considering Harold's earlier words, Desiree felt it was more of a test.
"Mr. Lewis, you don't need to test me anymore. I don't care about using my family's background. I just want to make a name for myself with my own abilities," Desiree spoke calmly, her eyes resolute.
