Chapter 492 Is That You?

Louis's face was grim as he walked over.

One look from him, and Giovanni got the message, pulling Jimena away.

Jimena sensed Louis's anger and quickly left. Pearl, however, stayed calm, like a noble swan.

"Pearl, I'm sorry," Louis said, looking remorseful.

Pearl's tone was distant. "It's not your fault. I came mainly because of Kevin. I made that clear. When do we start?"

"Rest today. We'll start tomorrow. Once we show up, Kevin won't hold back," Louis replied.

Pearl nodded. "Alright. I'll stay here. If there's nothing urgent, don't disturb me. Also, I heard you plan to give me the Eldorians' inheritance rights?"

She looked directly at Louis.

Her eyes locked onto his, giving him no escape.

Louis stayed silent. He and RavenWing did have those plans, but he wanted to win her over with actions, not words. Jimena spilling the beans complicated things.

Though angry, Louis felt helpless.

Because of Pearl's past, he knew he could never fully make amends.

"Pearl, it's been so long. Haven't we done enough to earn your forgiveness? We didn't know your identity, especially RavenWing. Once he found out, he was determined to make amends. The room you refused to stay in was personally designed by him."

Louis took a deep breath.

Since Pearl knew, he chose honesty. But his words made Pearl uncomfortable, as it seemed he was defending RavenWing.

Pearl remained indifferent. "I can't change my past, and you can't control the future."

"Everyone has a past. The Eldorians have changed for the better now."

"Don't tell me that. It's not that I don't forgive; I just can't accept this reality. I was raised in Willow Creek. My parents are there, and I know nothing about my early past. Oscar is already dead."

"Pearl," Louis grabbed her shoulders, speaking deeply. "I know you've been investigating Oscar's death. We didn't tamper with anything. You've found out his death had nothing to do with RavenWing. You can see our efforts. You can be a war correspondent, help the poor and wounded, why can't you acknowledge us?"

Louis brought Pearl back to the Eldorians not just for Kevin and the power transfer, but also to help her remember her past.

Pearl's throat tightened, as if an invisible hand was choking her.

"Why do you keep questioning me? I'm here to help. If you think those things aren't important, then I'll leave." With that, Pearl pushed Louis's hand away, turning her back on him.

Who could accept that their biological father was a heinous person?

Louis said RavenWing was focused on experiments, leaving many powers in Kevin's hands. But RavenWing wasn't clueless; he knew and connived at Kevin's actions.

RavenWing's abdication was just to let Louis reform the Eldorians.

"Alright. I won't force you, and I won't let anyone disturb you," Louis said, taking a deep breath before leaving.

After he left, someone brought a lot of food to Pearl, but she didn't touch it.

Pearl pulled Christopher over. "You must be hungry. Eat up."

Christopher, who had been wandering alone, had never seen so much good food. Pearl thought he should enjoy it since she brought him here.

But to her surprise, Christopher didn't eat a bite.

He picked up the knife and fork and handed them to Pearl, looking at her with hopeful eyes.

Pearl patted his head. "Alright, we'll eat together."

The next day, Pearl was worried about leaving Christopher alone, so she found Giovanni before heading out. "I don't want what happened to that woman to happen again. Find someone to watch over Christopher."

"Yes, Ms. Mitchell," Giovanni replied respectfully.

Pearl instructed Christopher, "This place is different from Serenea. Don't run around. Wait for me to come back, and I'll take you with me."

Christopher nodded, watching Pearl leave.

Pearl met up with Louis, and they walked together on the streets of the Eldorians. It was different from the war-torn place Pearl had seen five years ago.

The Eldorians had changed a lot.

Some even recognized Louis, waving and greeting him, "Mr. Mitchell. Is this your fiancée?"

"No, she's my sister, Carol," Louis introduced Pearl naturally. Seeing his sincere smile, Pearl smiled back.

Louis kept holding Pearl's hand, reminding her, "Kevin will definitely show up. Stay close to me, don't wander off, and stay alert."

"I know," Pearl replied without arguing.

But despite Louis's arrangements, the crowd was large, and when chaos broke out, Pearl got separated. Instinctively, she tried to escape.

Unexpectedly, several people surrounded her.

Just as Pearl's heart tightened and she prepared to outwit them, she saw a man appear in front of her.

The silver mask stirred something inside Pearl.

She grabbed his collar, conscious but hesitant to disturb his mind.

After he cleared the surrounding people, he held Pearl's waist and said, "I'll take you back to Louis."

The hoarse voice was a stark contrast to Oscar's once deep and gentle tone.

But Pearl felt this couldn't be a coincidence. They had never met before, and the previous encounter might have been him saving Louis, possibly looking to collaborate.

But this time, how could he appear before her for no reason?

Taking advantage of the lull, she wrapped one arm around his waist and grabbed his mask with the other, her voice hoarse as she asked, "Oscar, is that you?"
