Chapter 176 Leaving Early
Pearl said, "Forget it, it's not necessary."
Sometimes she didn't understand Oscar that well either.
She just met her classmates, why would Oscar mock her?
If he could listen, hewouldn't have just walked away.
"Adrian, thank you just now."
No matter what, Adrian's appearance helped her out of trouble.
Adrian smiled gently. "No need to be so polite."
When Adrian wanted to say more, Pearl interrupted. "I'm going back to the private room. If I have time another day, I'll treat you to a meal."
"I have time tomorrow afternoon."
Adrian knew this was just a polite lie, but he took it seriously.
Pearl was stunned for a moment but still nodded. "I'll send you the address tomorrow."
"Okay."
Adrian watched Pearl leave with a smile.
Oscar turned around, followed by Aurora.
However, Oscar didn't go to the fireworks show with Aurora.
Oscar stopped and directly distanced himself from Aurora. "Miss Johnson, I'm not interested in the fireworks show. If you need company, I'll have my assistant go in with you."
Aurora was shocked. "Mr. Brown, didn't we just agree..."
"Sorry." Oscar's face was cold. Ignoring Aurora's shock, he turned and walked in the opposite direction.
Aurora looked at Oscar's resolute back, very angry.
Aurora could see that there was something unusual between Oscar and Pearl. She thought that if she went to the fireworks show with Oscar, she would have a chance to be alone with him.
Look at it now!
Aurora was happy for nothing!
Oscar called Harold.
After connecting, he instructed Harold in a low voice. "You and the person in charge of the Johnson Group go to the fireworks show. Arrange for some people to stay around Pearl."
"Yes."
Harold responded quickly.
Oscar returned to the car.
From the moment he got in, he kept smoking.
The driver could tell that Oscar had something on his mind and didn't dare to breathe deeply.
Meanwhile, Pearl was still waiting in the private room.
It was midnight, Aurora's assistant had left, but Oscar still didn't come back.
There was not a single message on her phone.
Obviously, Oscar had left Pearl alone.
Considering that Pearl was still Oscar's secretary, she sent him a text before leaving: [Mr. Brown, I've been waiting for you until now. I think you and Miss Johnson must be very happy, so I'll go home first and not disturb you.]
When Pearl left the private room, Oscar received the message from his subordinate.
At the same time, Oscar also saw the message from Pearl.
Pearl was still in the private room.
Oscar frowned.
Two minutes later, Oscar saw Pearl walking out of the Emerald Peak Estate.
Just as he was about to open the car door, a white Cayenne stopped in front of Pearl.
In a few seconds, Pearl got in the car, then the white Cayenne drove away.
Oscar's hand, which was about to push the car door, showed bulging veins on the back.
Especially his angry face.
"Find out whose car that is!"
Oscar directly dialed a number and spoke in a gloomy tone.
Oscar didn't hang up, and his subordinate didn't dare to either.
After a while, the voice of his subordinate came through the phone. "Mr. Brown, we found out. That's Adrian Egan's car."
Oscar's face turned cold again. Wasn't she supposed to be in the private room?
How did she end up leaving with Adrian?
As Oscar gritted his teeth, preparing to speak to the driver Tom, Tom spoke first, "Mr. Brown, I know it's not my place to say this. But I have experience, and the most important thing between a husband and wife is mutual understanding. If there's a conflict, communicate in time. If both keep things hidden and don't speak up, they'll end up separating."
When Tom applied for this job, Harold had already explained the relationship between Pearl and Harold to him.
Oscar had been smoking since he got in the car.
This clearly showed that there was a conflict between them.
Also, Oscar's instructions to his subordinates to follow up on Pearl, including his recent attempt to open the car door, were all noticed by Tom.
Oscar squinted his eyes.
He glanced at the new driver.
He was tall and thin, with slightly dark skin.
Oscar's tone was cold. "Didn't Harold tell you the rules?"
Tom lowered his posture. "Mr. Lewis did tell me. Mr. Brown, I shouldn't say this, but I once had regrets. My wife and I had a conflict, I misunderstood her, and I never apologized. She didn't explain either. Later, when I left home to earn money, she had someone else's child. I lost her forever."
Oscar pursed his lips together. After a few seconds of silence, he spoke in a low voice. "Drive."
Tom's situation could never happen to Oscar.
Oscar would never let Pearl have someone else's child!
Meanwhile, although Pearl was sitting in the back seat of Adrian's car, she still kept a distance from him.
Adrian noticed her unease and chuckled to ease the tension. "Pearl, you don't have to be so nervous. I'm not a monster."
"It's not that."
Keeping a distance from Adrian was just basic decency between a man and a woman.
Moreover, Adrian had helped her recently and was now giving her a ride, which made her feel quite embarrassed.
Adrian, seeing her lowered head, understood her thoughts.
He chuckled. "Pearl, we're classmates and friends. If it were me who needed a ride home late at night, you would do the same for me."
Pearl could only smile.
When Adrian had stopped the car in front of her, she initially didn't want to get in, but Adrian mentioned it was already late.
Most importantly, at that time, she saw there were no available vehicles nearby.
Adrian was talkative, quickly easing her earlier tension.
Talking made the time pass quickly.
It wasn't until the driver stopped the car at the entrance of Serenity Haven Estates that they realized Pearl had arrived.
Adrian reminded her specifically . "Pearl, remember tomorrow's dinner."
"Okay."
Pearl nodded.
As soon as Pearl entered the house, she saw Hathaway sitting on the sofa.
The moment Hathaway saw Pearl, her gaze turned sharp.
Clearly, Hathaway had come prepared.
"Mom."
Pearl greeted her proactively.
Hathaway immediately sneered. "I don't have a daughter like you! You haven't even divorced Oscar yet, and you've already found your next husband? Who's so blind to want to be your secret lover?"
Pearl pursed her lips together. "Mom, don't be so mean. He's just my friend, and Oscar has had far more interactions with women than I have. Why have I never heard you call anyone Oscar's secret lover?"
As Pearl said this, she met Hathaway's gaze.
At this moment, Pearl wasn't angry.
Hathaway, stood up from the sofa angrily, pointing at Pearl. "Pearl, how dare you speak to me like that!"
