Chapter 615 Definitely a Success

The nurse looked pretty stressed and said, "Mr. Clark said we had to give you all this stuff. He also mentioned that if you don't take it, he'd file a complaint against us, and our whole department would fail the assessment. Ms. Clark, please don't make it hard for us. Plus, these healthy breakfasts are good for you, so just take them."

Janetta was super mad but didn't want to make things worse for the nurses, so she let them leave the stuff.

After breakfast, Janetta texted Pearl to let her know she was in the hospital and hinted that she wanted to get out of there.

What she didn't know was that Pearl was actually in the doctor's office with Oscar and Damian.

All three of them looked really serious, and Pearl was trying hard not to cry, her shoulders shaking.

Oscar held her, wanting to comfort her but not knowing what to say.

"Alright, doc." After a long silence, Damian finally spoke up, "Give my kidney to Janetta."

Pearl was shocked; she never expected Damian to say that.

Janetta had kidney failure, and a transplant was the best option. Pearl had thought about spending a lot of money to find a kidney, but Damian just offered his own.

At that moment, Pearl had to rethink what she knew about Damian.

Damian seemed to have feelings for Janetta that went beyond familial affection, possibly even romantic, but given that he was married, he should have resolved his own issues before considering a future with her.

"Mr. Clark, a kidney transplant is a big deal. You need to think it through," the doctor reminded him, considering Damian's status and not wanting any medical disputes.

Damian was firm in his decision, telling the doctor not to worry and that he'd sign a waiver. The doctor hesitated, but Damian had already started drafting the agreement.

Just then, the door swung open, and Savannah walked in. She tore up the agreement first, then smiled as she straightened Damian's clothes.

After that, she looked at Pearl and Oscar. "Your friend has a health issue, and instead of finding a top-notch doctor, you bring my husband here. Is he a doctor?"

Oscar chuckled, "Mrs. Clark, Mr. Clark isn't a doctor, but he's more worried about Janetta's health than any doctor. I've told him I have plenty of money and can definitely get Janetta treated, but he doesn't believe me. Isn't that annoying?"

Savannah's face turned grim, unable to say a word.

Pearl, behind her, stifled a laugh, not expecting Oscar to be so good at comebacks.

After a moment of awkward silence, Savannah ordered the servants to take Damian back to his room and turned to warn the doctor about the kidney transplant. The doctor looked innocent, having advised Damian to think it through to avoid such a situation, but still got scolded by Savannah.

After Savannah left, the doctor sighed heavily.

Pearl quickly asked, "Doctor, besides Damian donating a kidney, can the hospital find a kidney source?"

The doctor nodded, "But it will take longer. Ms. Clark's condition is still stable, as long as her nutrition is maintained."

Pearl was thrilled. "Then please help us find a kidney source, no matter the cost. Also, don't tell Janetta about her condition; I'm afraid she won't be able to handle it."

Given that Janetta was already depressed, it was hard to imagine whether she would have considered taking her own life if she had known about her serious health issues.

Pearl's hunch was spot on. After leaving the office, Savannah had someone spill the beans to Janetta. That afternoon, Janetta found out about her condition from a neighboring patient.

When she heard the news, she felt a weird mix of relief and resentment. After getting back to her room, she locked herself in the bathroom.

Pearl got a call from the doctor and rushed to the hospital. Before she could even ask, the doctor told her everything.

How could the neighboring patient know about Janetta's condition unless someone had meddled?

Pearl immediately thought of Savannah, and her simmering anger boiled over.

She stormed into Damian's room, grabbed Savannah by the collar, and demanded, "Why did you do this? Janetta has no beef with you. Why hurt her?"

Savannah signaled the servants to pull Pearl away. Once free, she sneered, "I don't know what you're talking about, Pearl. I know Janetta is your good friend, but you can't pin everything on me. I have my status and dignity."

"If it wasn't you, how would Janetta know about her condition?" Pearl tried to lunge at her again but was held back by the servants.

She struggled desperately, wanting to give Savannah a piece of her mind.

In that moment, she forgot she was pregnant and shouldn't be making any sudden moves.

Luckily, Oscar and Henry showed up. Seeing Pearl being restrained, Oscar strode over, pushed the servants away, and held Pearl protectively.

"You're asking for trouble. Damian, control your woman," Oscar roared.

Damian sighed, wanting to apologize but was cut off by Savannah, "Mr. Brown, get it straight. Your wife tried to hit me. If it weren't for her being pregnant, do you think I would let her off? You should thank me for not wanting to harm the child."

"Fine, you're threatening me, huh?" Oscar had been itching for a reason to go off for Janetta, and now he had it. He called to report Damian for tax evasion right in front of him.

Savannah panicked, but it was too late. Watching Oscar hang up, a nasty thought crossed her mind.

"Mr. Clark, I'll have the evidence sent over. You forced me. Don't blame me." With that, Oscar left the room with Pearl in his arms.

Savannah immediately squeezed out a couple of tears, pitifully holding Damian's hand. "Damian, I was going to tell them I found a kidney source, but look at them. They don't deserve our help."

Damian's eyes lit up, and he quickly asked, "Where's the kidney source?"

Savannah hesitated and shook her head.

He got anxious and urged, "Tell me quickly, Janetta can't wait."

Savannah finally spoke softly, "That family lives in the south of the city, running a small business. They can't afford to send their two sons to college, so they want to sell a kidney. A friend of mine heard about it and told me."

After saying this, she pretended to be worried and said, "Damian, you wouldn't go to that family, would you? Don't go. My friend said that family holds a grudge against us for some past grievances, but they are grateful to Janetta. They said Janetta once helped them, though I don't know if it's true."

Damian frowned. "So if Janetta goes to them, she can definitely get the kidney, right?"
