Chapter 407 This is Clearly a Group of Demons

Pearl felt the ground shake.

She grabbed a tree and saw the sky turn red.

Hearing gunfire, she looked over.

The scene stunned her.

Men in camo were sweeping through the crowd with long guns. People fell, blood everywhere.

Pearl froze.

The men entered small houses, came out with stuff, and set them on fire.

Pearl was dumbfounded.

These were supposed to be soldiers.

In her mind, soldiers protected the nation, like Oscar, who followed orders, rescued people, and sacrificed themselves.

She saw a flag fluttering, which was black with a white skull and a coiled cobra.

The sight made her scalp tingle.

Shouts were heard, and Pearl understood them.

Within seconds, the group got into military vehicles and drove away.

She approached and saw bodies everywhere, mostly elderly, children, and women.

Some children had severed limbs.

Pearl couldn't hold back, nausea surged, and she retched.

The sound of flames crackling filled her ears.

This wasn't an army but a group of demons!

She felt terrible, with Adrian and Oscar missing, and even Barbara separated from her.

Suddenly, she saw a hand moving under a pile of bodies.

Pearl's heart leaped.

She quickly calmed down, moved forward, ignoring the stench of blood, and began lifting the body pinning down the hand.

In less than two minutes, she saw a blood-mottled face, a boy about fifteen named Miguel Navarro.

Though his face was smeared with blood, his eyes were clear.

Miguel's eyes were wary. "Are you from Tranquiloria?"

Miguel spoke English, surprising Pearl. "I am. You speak English?"

Guadalupe she met earlier couldn't speak English, but Miguel could.

Miguel nodded. "Some soldiers from Tranquiloria came before. They taught me."

The soldiers from Tranquiloria were good, helping them dig wells, grow vegetables, repair houses, and even teaching them to read.

But now, his home was destroyed!

"You're hurt," Pearl noticed Miguel's arm.

A long gash with flesh turned outward.

Miguel didn't glance at his wound; he just moved the bodies together, even though he was injured.

When Miguel exerted force, he gritted his teeth, not making a sound.

Pearl was impressed by his resilience. "Why are you moving them together? Aren't you afraid?"

Seeing so many bodies made Pearl feel fear, but she didn't leave. Miguel seemed to be the only survivor.

And he spoke English!

Miguel's lips twisted into a bitter smile. "These were the villagers I lived with."

Miguel's eyes were filled with deep sadness. Pearl could feel his pain.

They had been living peacefully, but now the whole village was dead, leaving only him.

Pearl pursed her lips and helped Miguel gather the bodies.

She asked, "I saw the whole thing. Weren't those people soldiers? Did your village do something?"

Miguel's eyes flashed with fierceness. "What could we have done? Those weren't soldiers; they were RavenWing's men!"

Miguel gritted his teeth, his voice tight.

The young men in the village had gone out to earn money or were conscripted, leaving only the elderly and children.

They just wanted to live well. What did they do wrong?

"I'm sorry," Pearl said, at a loss for words.

Miguel's words shattered her understanding.

RavenWing was looking for her, made drugs, and burned, killed, and looted.

Miguel asked, "This place is full of conflict. Why did you come here?"

Besides civilians, there were peacekeeping troops, RavenWing's men, and the local army, which was too weak to protect them.

"I'm here to find someone. I had friends with me, but now we're separated. What's your name?" Pearl asked hoarsely. "Is this Eldorians?"

Miguel glanced at Pearl, then brought some branches from behind a house.

Pearl followed to help.

When they had enough, Miguel lit a fire.

Watching the flames, Miguel said, "This is the northern part of Eldorians."

He didn't reveal his name.

Pearl knew Miguel was wary but admired his determination. He even thought of cremating the bodies.

She tried to communicate, "I got separated from my friends. I don't understand the Eldorians language. Could you stay with me and be my translator?”

She needed a translator. And now, with everyone in the village dead, Miguel had nowhere to go.

Miguel looked at Pearl with suspicion and curiosity. “Who are you looking for in Eldorians?”

"Someone very important to me."

As for July, Guadalupe, and Alejandro, they probably fled.

Miguel remained silent.

Pearl continued, "Let's see if there are any medical supplies. I'll bandage your wound first, or it will get infected."

To gain Miguel's trust, she had to show goodwill.

Miguel didn't respond or move.

Pearl searched each house. The living conditions were basic, and every house had been ransacked.

She finally found a bottle of iodine and a small roll of gauze.

Then she stepped back outside.
