Chapter 482 Going Home for Dinner
Jeffery gave Pearl the vibe that he knew something.
But Jeffery just smiled. "No secrets here. What I know isn't a secret anymore."
All he knew was Carol's identity.
He teamed up with Haley just to split up Carol and Oscar.
He just wanted to get close to Carol.
But then, Donald captured Carol, and Barbara didn't recognize her and poisoned her.
"You should get some rest."
Barbara said this and went back to her room.
Tomorrow, she had to stay with Pearl and handle her own stuff.
Meanwhile, Louis and RavenWing were in the council chamber.
RavenWing stared at the map on the wall, hands behind his back.
After about ten seconds, he circled the north with a red pen.
He also drew two long arrows in the south.
In a low voice, he said, "Kevin, the traitor, wants to split Eldorians' power and drag Tranquiloria into this war. He's dreaming."
"Set up defenses in the circled area; we can't let the allies take it. For the two arrows, send two waves of troops to lure the enemy."
Louis got what RavenWing meant.
But Louis had another idea.
He pointed to Serenea on the map. "If Kevin wants war, let's drag Serenea into it. Tranquiloria isn't untouchable."
Even if they couldn't topple Tranquiloria, they could provoke a reaction and boost Eldorians' status.
Eldorians had a poor international standing.
RavenWing stayed silent, which meant he agreed.
The battle plans were set, but Pearl was always on RavenWing's mind.
Thinking of Pearl made RavenWing feel guilty. "I owe Carol an apology and want to make it up to her, but she won't give me a chance. Do you have any way to bring her back and change her attitude towards us? Didn't she have a good relationship with you before?"
Louis smirked. "You know it was before, right? And who says a good relationship can't be fake?"
Pearl didn't really have a good relationship with him.
Pearl's visit to that village was a coincidence. She knew it, but her coming to him was intentional.
Now that Pearl figured what she wanted to know, and since she was rejecting them, how could she still have a good relationship with him?
RavenWing was silent for a moment, then sighed. "Since she won't accept us, make sure someone protects her well. After the war, we'll bring her back. She'll have no choice but to stay."
In RavenWing's view, parents cared their kids, and kids wanted to stay with their parents, no exceptions.
Louis's smirk grew. "You get it now, but what about before?"
Before, RavenWing was so into his experiments that Kevin's ambition grew.
RavenWing's throat tightened. "That's in the past. Louis, you're my son. You should be thinking with me about how to get Carol to accept me and come back to the Eldorians, not mocking me. Also, you're the king now; you need to make some decisions on your own."
RavenWing's eyes were slightly bloodshot.
Since finding out Pearl was Carol, RavenWing had stopped wearing a mask.
He didn't look good at the moment.
Louis could persuade Pearl and speak well for RavenWing, but he couldn't understand some of RavenWing's actions.
Louis said coldly, "If you don't trust me, then do it yourself."
With that, Louis left the council chamber without looking back.
Meanwhile, Oscar had woken up, his face injured.
With medication and white bandages, he looked like a mummy.
Charles frowned at Oscar lying motionless on the bed. "Are you fighting with me?"
If he hadn't arranged for people to be by Oscar's side, how could he have survived?
"No." Oscar's voice was hoarse and low.
Charles smirked. "If not, you wouldn't have this attitude. Take care of your injuries; you're seriously hurt. If you want to keep your life and see who you want to see, you'd better listen to me."
Oscar didn't respond immediately. After a few seconds, he slowly nodded.
Pearl was woken up by a phone call early in the morning.
She saw it was from Evans.
Even though RavenWing was her biological father, to her, Evans and Kittie were her real parents.
When she answered, Evans's hoarse and cautious voice came through.
"Pearl, are you home now?"
When she decided to go to the Eldorians, she texted them saying she was going abroad to relax. After everything with the Eldorians, she lost contact with them.
Now that Evans called, Pearl couldn't pretend nothing had happened.
Pearl said hoarsely, "I came back yesterday."
Evans asked, "You must have things to deal with today. Pearl, come over for dinner tonight. If it's inconvenient, Kittie and I can come to you."
"I'll come over to your place."
How could Pearl let them come to her?
Even though she wasn't their biological daughter, they treated her better than their own.
Now, she had to deal with the Brown Group first because Harold was already knocking on the door. "Ms. Harris, are you up? Mrs. Brown has mobilized the shareholders and executives, and they're causing trouble in the company meeting room, demanding you return all the shares. We need to go to the company."
Pearl's face darkened. She didn't expect Hathaway to act so quickly; she really couldn't wait.
But Pearl made it clear to Harold. "If they want to cause a scene, let them. We'll let them stew for a while. For now, let's focus on our own tasks."
"By the way, have you prepared the original agreements of Oscar's transfer to me?"
"Yes."
With Pearl's plan in place, Harold had nothing more to add.
But how could the anxious Hathaway give Pearl this chance?
