Chapter 763 He Really Loves Her

Saskia's heart did a little flip when she saw Nathaniel's message. He was checking in on her.

But Azalea was right there next to her.

[I'll snap one when I get back to my room.] Saskia texted back, gripping her phone tight as she got up to head upstairs.

Azalea, still chatting away, instinctively started to follow her.

Saskia tried to manage Azalea, but her phone kept buzzing like crazy.

"Saskia, who's blowing up your phone? Got a secret boyfriend or something?" Azalea's eyes sparkled with curiosity.

She genuinely hoped Saskia would find someone who loved and cherished her.

Saskia had taken on so much.

Saskia forced a bitter smile. "Do you honestly think any guy would want me like this?"

She had nothing, just a sick son who needed expensive medical care. What man would sign up for that?

"You never know. If someone truly loves you, they won't care about those things. Just look at me and George. He has a house and a car, while I had nothing. By comparison, I seemed way below his league," Azalea said, using her own experience as an example.

She and George had a significant gap in status and wealth.

But in the end, George chose to be with her and even agreed to lend Saskia money.

"I found such a great guy, Saskia. There's no reason you can't. You need to have some confidence in yourself," Azalea said, "Believe me, you deserve the best in this world."

The more Azalea spoke, the more anxious Saskia felt.

Azalea had such an idealistic view of things. However, finding a perfect man like that was nearly impossible.

George was merely a persona that Nathaniel had created—an act that fit Azalea's ideal perfectly.

At that time, the phone rang again.

Nathaniel couldn't wait any longer and called directly.

"Who is it? He can't even wait a few minutes. He must be head over heels for you," Azalea said, intrigued by the person on the other end.

She leaned in, trying to see Saskia's phone screen.

Saskia quickly hid her phone behind her back. "It's no one, just a spam call."

"I don't believe you. Spam calls don't come this frequently," Azalea said, pretending to be angry. "We're family! And I already have a kid; I'm not going to steal your man. Why are you hiding this from me?"

Saskia couldn't explain.

She put her phone on silent and lied, saying the call had ended. "We're family, so I wouldn't lie to you. My number got leaked recently, and now insurance salespeople and loan companies keep calling me."

Azalea was skeptical.

She stared at Saskia for a while, seeing no signs of embarrassment on her face, and finally let it go. "Alright, but if you ever get a boyfriend, you have to bring him to meet me. I'll make sure he's a good guy. If he's not, I'll be the first to object."

Azalea wouldn't let Saskia go through another bad relationship.

Just then, Azalea's own phone rang. She glanced at the screen and happily answered, "Honey, what's up?"

It was Nathaniel!Saskia's eyes went wide, and her hands shook behind her back.

Nathaniel must be pissed because she didn't respond to his messages or calls, so now he's using Azalea to get to her!

"I'm just checking in on you. Where are you right now?" Nathaniel's tone was calm.

He knew Saskia was probably right next to Azalea.

So every word he said, Saskia could hear loud and clear.

Azalea smiled blissfully and replied, "I'm at home, resting. George, are you tired from work?"

"Not too tired. How's Saskia?" Nathaniel shifted the topic to Saskia.

Azalea was a bit surprised by his concern for Saskia.

But then she thought, given Saskia's situation, George was just being considerate because of her.

Saskia responded, "Saskia's right here. We might go to the hospital tomorrow. I haven't seen Benjamin in a few days."

"Do you know what Saskia is wearing right now..." Nathaniel deliberately dragged out his words, but Saskia interrupted him.

Sweat beaded on her forehead, and she could barely stand. Her voice was shaky. "Azalea, I'm going to my room."

If she didn't send Nathaniel a video soon, he might really make her life hell!

"Do you want me to come with you?" Azalea, still on the phone, had no idea what was happening.

She just felt something was off with Saskia today but couldn't pinpoint what.

"No need." Saskia ran upstairs quickly.

She couldn't afford to waste another second.

"Alright, I won't bother you then." Azalea sat back on the couch. She continued, "So, George, what were you saying about Saskia?"

"Nothing much. I just meant she can go to the hospital by herself. You should stay home and rest since you're pregnant," Nathaniel said, having already received the photo from Saskia and not wanting to continue the previous topic.

He opened the chat and zoomed in on the photo.

Four years had gone by, and Saskia's legs remained long and straight as ever, though now marked with scars that Nathaniel didn't like.

Those scars were the price she paid for betraying him.

Saskia quickly sent another message: [I sent the photo. Is that enough?]

Just from the text, Nathaniel could imagine Saskia's current state.

She was probably teary-eyed and cautious, like a frightened little rabbit.

His long fingers tapped the screen. [Not even close. I want a video. And don't forget how you should address me.]

"George? Did you hear what I just said?" Azalea asked again, not getting a response.

She felt like George was being dismissive today.

George loved her deeply.

If he didn't want to talk, he wouldn't have called.

"I was just handling some paperwork. I'm a bit busy," Nathaniel continued to brush her off.

His words lacked sincerity, but Azalea was good at convincing herself.

After all, women in love were often foolish.

Azalea's heart softened. He was working tirelessly to create a better life for her and their child, yet still found time to call her.

He really, really loved her!
