Chapter 754 Spare Key

"I'm not trying to run away; I just wanted to close the door," Saskia blurted out.

There was no way she could leave now.

Nathaniel was already pissed at Azalea because of her. If Saskia bailed now, it would only put Azalea in more danger.

She couldn't do that.

"Did I say you could close the door?" Nathaniel snapped.

His long fingers grabbed Saskia's collar and yanked hard, tearing it apart. He continued, "I also didn't say you could walk. Remember, the dog we used to have always crawled on all fours."

He paused, then sneered, "But I guess you've forgotten. Should I find a video to remind you?"

"I haven't forgotten," Saskia said, shaking her head.

That dog held so many happy memories for both of them. How could she forget?

The day Jade came over, Saskia chose to take the money and leave. She wanted to take the dog with her, but she was stopped.

"This amount of money is a fortune for you, something you could never earn in a lifetime. But for the Egan family, it's nothing. You can't step through the Egan family's door, but the dog can. Are you sure you want to take the dog and suffer together?" Jade had said.

Saskia would never forget those words.

She understood how great the disparity between them was, so she gave up custody of the dog.

In hindsight, it was the right decision.

These past few years, she had to work and take care of Benjamin. She barely had time for herself, let alone a dog.

"Is Donut doing okay?" Saskia asked, her eyes red.

Donut was the name of the dog, a cute, snow-white Samoyed.

Nathaniel intended to hurt her, saying, "I sold it after you left."

"No way. You loved Donut, and you didn't need the money," Saskia said, not believing him.

Even if Nathaniel was angry with her, he wouldn't go that far.

"I don't need the money, but it had a heartless owner like you. You left without a second thought, abandoning me and the dog. What right do you have to care about it now?" Nathaniel's grip tightened.

Shame and pleasure intertwined, leaving Saskia in an unbearable situation.

She bit her lip hard, refusing to make a sound.

The more she resisted, the more Nathaniel wanted to break her.

Finally, Saskia couldn't hold back and let out a small sound.

Nathaniel just chuckled and said nothing.

Saskia was so ashamed she wanted to escape.

She didn't know how long Nathaniel tormented her that night. It wasn't until dawn that he finally let her go.

He closed the door, then returned to the bed and reached out to pick Saskia up.

"What do you want now?" Saskia was on guard.

She was exhausted, especially her back, which felt like it was about to break.

How did Nathaniel have such incredible stamina?

Her words hit him like a bucket of cold water, and Nathaniel's expression darkened even further.

He just wanted to carry her to the bathroom for a bath.

In her current state, Saskia could barely move, and she had complained about her back pain several times.Thinking about it now, Nathaniel felt pathetic. Why should he care about Saskia?

He said nothing, slammed the door, and left.

At that time, Saskia lay on the bed, tears streaming down her face, soaking the pillow.

She didn't know how long she cried until she finally fell asleep from exhaustion.

Nathaniel didn't sleep well either.

He went to his study, took a cold shower, then sat at his desk and opened a drawer, taking out an old photo.

He had never been able to throw it away. In the photo, the two of them were tightly embracing, their eyes filled with love for each other.

Now, he hated Saskia, and she hated him just as much. Logic told him to keep his distance, but he couldn't bring himself to do it.

Even if they could only hurt each other, he accepted it.

The next morning, Azalea woke up to find the other side of the bed empty, not even the blanket was there.

She glanced at it, then got up to wash and went next door to find Saskia.

She knocked on the door, but there was no response.

This was very unusual.

Even though they didn't live together, she knew Saskia's routine. Saskia would be up by seven in the morning.

But now it was past eight, almost nine. Could she have fainted?

Thinking of this, Azalea panicked and raised her voice. "Saskia? Can you hear me? Saskia?"

Azalea couldn't just stand outside waiting, so she stepped back and tried to kick the door open. After a few attempts, Nathaniel finally emerged from the study.

He quickly caught Azalea and said, "You're pregnant; don't make such big movements."

"But Saskia hasn't gotten up yet. Something's wrong—I'm worried she might have fainted," Azalea said, recalling a previous incident.

Saskia had fainted while handing out flyers for a part-time job. A kind passerby called Azalea rushed over.

Back then, the doctor had said Saskia was malnourished and had low blood sugar. If she had fainted at home alone, it could have been dangerous.

How could Azalea not be worried?

"She hasn't gotten up yet," Nathaniel stated.

They had been up late last night, and given how much Saskia hated him, she would probably curse him in bed before falling asleep.

If she got up now, that would be strange.

Azalea didn't know about this, and her anxiety grew. "We've made so much noise outside, and she still hasn't woken up. That's not right. Should I call a locksmith?"

"There's no need; we have a spare key," Nathaniel said, returning to the study to get it.

When he renovated the house, he had prepared a spare key for each room, thinking Saskia might move in.

If she locked the door and didn't open it, he would use the spare key.

Azalea then took the key from him and unlocked the door.

She rushed in and called out, "Saskia?"

"What's wrong?" Saskia groggily opened her eyes.

She was so tired and just wanted to sleep.

Azalea pressed her forehead against Saskia's, but there was no fever. "Saskia, do you feel unwell anywhere?"
