Chapter 379 Kidnapped
Someone shouted, and Haley's face went pale, looking lost in the crowd.
She'd endured many insults, but this public shaming was different. The crowd's faces turned hostile.
The host tried to calm things down. "This is Haley's first time here. Don't believe the online rumors; it's unfair to her."
"If she did nothing wrong, why is she being singled out? Concerned netizens found some suspicious stuff about her. We should get the police involved. Artists with shady pasts shouldn't be at public events."
"Everyone, please calm down," the host pleaded. "If Haley had real issues, she wouldn't be here."
The audience ignored the host, showing their hatred by throwing things at Haley.
Anything throwable was hurled her way.
Haley got hit and covered her head, shouting, "I didn't do it. It wasn't me."
Staff rushed to protect her, trying to get her out.
The crowd, fired up, yelled, "The recent female corpse case has everyone scared. If Haley's involved, she's a monster. I'm speaking for all women! If she can still act and make money, who will stand up for the victims?"
These words struck a chord with more people.
They chanted, "Haley, get out!"
"Haley, get out!"
For the first time, Haley felt the terrifying hatred of the crowd.
She was scared and felt doomed.
Even without jail time or evidence, the rumors had already condemned her.
She was supposed to be a star; how did it come to this?
Backstage, Haley's eyes were red, and her hands shook.
She had injuries from the thrown objects.
They didn't give her a moment to breathe.
"Ms. Garcia, are you okay?" the organizers asked, concerned.
Haley couldn't accept it, pushing them away angrily. "These are the people you invited, and now I'm hurt because you didn't provide protection. I rely on my looks to make a living. How can I act now?"
Her eyes widened, and the organizers thought she looked fierce.
Though they felt wronged, they said patiently, "Ms. Garcia, we didn't plan well. We'll cover your medical bills, and you don't need to stay for the event."
They didn't want the event disrupted.
Seeing the backlash, they wouldn't invite her again.
"Are you kicking me out?" Haley forced herself to say. "I'm busy. If I don't need to be here, why invite me? You're wasting my time!"
"Sorry, Ms. Garcia."
Haley was a mess but still wanted to keep some dignity.
After multiple apologies, she stopped arguing and went back to the lounge.
There, she trashed the place to vent her anger.
"Pearl!" Haley gritted her teeth. "You ruined me, and I'll get my revenge!"
Minutes later, someone knocked on the door.
The organizers said, "Ms. Garcia, please leave quickly. Someone else needs the lounge."
Mae quickly said, "What's the rush? You think Haley wants to stay here any longer?"
She started packing up.
Haley's tears fell, but her face stayed cold. She wanted a comeback but felt like she was sinking deeper.
She thought about any possible fixes.
She'd worked hard in the entertainment industry, aiming to be someone others envied. She couldn't give up.
Another knock on the door.
Mae, a bit annoyed, opened it. "What's the rush?"
It was Oscar's people.
Mae's eyes lit up. "Haley."
Haley felt a glimmer of hope. She wiped her tears and asked, "Does Oscar want to see me?"
This was her last hope.
If Oscar was willing to help, she wouldn't be doomed.
"Ms. Garcia, let's go."
"Okay, I knew Oscar wouldn't let me down. He still cares. I'll go see him now!" Haley never gave up hope. If Oscar reached out, she'd believe in him who had never truly abandoned her.
She left with them without hesitation.
In the car, no one spoke.
Haley had many questions, smiling as she asked, but they didn't answer.
It didn't matter.
Seeing him again was all she needed.
This was her obsession.
But she wasn't so lucky this time.
They arrived at a remote, eerie place surrounded by mountains.
When the car stopped, Haley looked around but was rudely pushed out. "What are you doing? Be polite. I'm Oscar's fiancée. Do you want to die?"
Before she could finish, her hands were tied.
"What are you doing?" Haley struggled.
"Ms. Garcia, if you don't want to die faster, shut up!"
Bound and hooded, she was pushed into the forest.
She felt uneasy but trusted them because they were Oscar's people.
She believed Oscar had shown her mercy by getting her out of jail.
He wouldn't harm her.
After a long walk, her dress got caught on branches, scratching her legs. She felt the pain but was still pushed forward.
Having never suffered like this, Haley felt cold all over.
They reached flat ground, but after a few minutes, she was pushed again.
She fell to the ground.
Without her arms to support her, she felt pain all over. Her legs were definitely scraped.
Then, her hood was removed.
Not seeing sunlight for a while, Haley felt a bit dazzled.
When she opened her eyes, she saw Oscar sitting on a sofa with a stern, terrifying expression, his cold eyes staring straight at her.
Despite sensing something was wrong, Haley held onto hope. She crawled to his legs, grabbing his pants. "Oscar, they went too far. They tied me up. Look, my legs are bleeding. I'm your fiancée. How can they treat me like this? You should punish them!"
She saw Oscar as her only support.
Just like the first time she met him, he was her greatest mental pillar.
But Oscar's eyes showed no sympathy, only a hint of bloodthirsty light.
He glanced at his pants being held, his eyes filled with disgust, and he kicked her away without mercy!
This was the first time Oscar had treated her so roughly!
