Chapter 617 Playing Tricks

After they sat down, the old woman came out with tea, setting it in front of Janetta and Henry. The other two cups were placed in chipped porcelain bowls.

Henry quietly took it all in, watching their every move.

Gabriel started reminiscing about the past. Seeing Janetta's puzzled look, Henry was even more convinced these two were impostors.

They weren't kidney sellers; Henry just couldn't figure out their real game.

"Ms. Clark, you might've forgotten, but that's okay. We remember. Drink the tea while it's hot." Gabriel's eyes welled up with tears; his acting was top-notch.

Janetta, clueless, lifted her teacup, but Henry pulled her aside and whispered not to drink it.

Gabriel smiled and coaxed, "Just a sip, it won't hurt. Would I harm my benefactor?"

Janetta nodded and took a sip. Seeing her drink, Gabriel glanced at Henry. Henry smirked, picked up his teacup, and poured the tea on the ground.

He was done playing along. "They're not kidney sellers. They have another agenda. Let's get out of here," he told Janetta.

"Too late for that," Gabriel sneered, his voice suddenly strong and youthful.

Henry glared and instinctively grabbed Janetta's hand to reassure her.

The old woman laughed, then looked at Janetta, "Ms. Clark, you can only blame yourself for not keeping your word. Enjoy your stay; we won't be joining you."

With that, they got up and left.

Henry wanted to chase them, but Janetta held him back, whispering, "I can't move. I have no strength."

"It's okay, I'll carry you out." Henry tried to stand, but he was stuck to the chair, which was bolted to the floor.

They had no intention of letting them leave.

"I'm sorry, Janetta. I didn't check things out properly. I'll call for help, don't be scared." Henry pulled out his phone, but there was no signal. He tried dialing 911, but it wouldn't connect.

He quickly realized the courtyard had a signal jammer to block any calls for help.

Janetta was trembling, barely holding on. Henry scanned the room, looking for an escape. Suddenly, dust and wood chips started falling from above, followed by the sound of something about to break.

They looked up, terrified. The beam above their heads was cracking and looked ready to fall any second.

"Henry, you have the strength. Get out of here," Janetta urged.

Henry shook his head. "No, I can't leave you. I have to get you out too."

"There's no time. Henry, I'm already done for. But you have a future. You shouldn't die here." Janetta had sensed something was off when Gabriel pulled her, but her will to live made her take a chance. She didn't expect to lose.

More debris was falling. It seemed Gabriel wanted to bury them alive.

Janetta's tears fell as she pleaded, "Go, please. I'm begging you."

Henry shook his head.

At that moment, the beam completely broke and came crashing down.

Henry lunged forward to push Janetta away, screaming in pain as the beam crushed his legs.

"Henry!" Janetta was terrified and tried to crawl over but was knocked unconscious by a falling wooden board.

When she woke up again, she was lying in her original hospital bed, her head wrapped in bandages, aching faintly. She thought of Henry and immediately got out of bed to look for him.

Pearl happened to open the door and came in, rushing over to pull her back to the bed.

"I need to find Henry. How is he? Tell me he's still alive," Janetta grabbed Pearl's hands, tears streaming down her face.

Pearl wiped her tears and tried to comfort her, "He's alive. But why did you go to such a place? That building was dangerous; the government had put up warning signs. Didn't you see them?"

Janetta remained silent, leaving no clue where to start—whether it was about Damian, Henry, or her illness.

Pearl thought they had gone on a date and smiled ambiguously. "Well, you two have seen true feelings in adversity, but don't go to such places for dates in the future. If you want excitement, go somewhere else. If you don't know where, I'll take you."

Janetta glared at her and said softly, "We went to find a kidney source, but we were deceived."

Pearl was shocked and quickly sat down to ask what had happened.

Janetta briefly explained the situation and immediately warned her not to look for Damian.

Damian wanted to harm Janetta again, but Pearl wouldn't listen to Janetta's warning. She didn't say anything but had a plan in mind.

After Janetta calmed down, she excused herself to find a doctor but actually called Oscar.

She informed him of the reason for Janetta's accident and directly asked, "With your power, can you deal with Damian?"

Oscar nodded and instructed, "You're pregnant now. I'll take care of this."

"Last time Janetta was in trouble, I didn't hold him accountable. I thought he would restrain himself, but now he's trying to kill her. If it weren't for Henry saving Janetta, she might have... I don't care, I want Damian to pay." Pearl held back her anger, not wanting to affect her pregnancy, and said softly, "And that Savannah, she can't get away with this either."

"Alright, I'll take care of it." Oscar could tell Pearl was really angry and immediately started handling the matter after hanging up.

As expected, that night, many of Damian's partners unilaterally terminated their contracts, some even willing to pay high penalties to break the agreements.

Damian was so furious that he smashed his laptop on the spot, cursing his subordinates.

The assistant, feeling awkward, quietly reminded, "This seems to be related to the Brown Group, Mr. Clark. Should we ask Oscar?"

"Even if he did it, do you expect me to kneel and beg him to let us go?" After saying this, Damian thought of something and grabbed the assistant by the collar. "Which room is Henry in?"

"In the orthopedic department across the hall, top floor." With that, the assistant was thrown to the ground.

Damian stormed into Henry's hospital room, seeing Janetta sitting by the bed, his anger exploded.

"Very good. I didn't expect someone as famous as Mr. Doe to use such despicable means." Damian walked to the bed with a sinister tone, lifting the blanket to grab Henry's legs.
