Chapter 443 Encounter

Lorenzo noticed Pearl too.

Their eyes met, and Pearl saw Lorenzo's bright eyes. It felt weird—he was a stranger, but she felt like she knew him.

Pearl quickly looked away.

"Is he the Adrian you're looking for?" Giovanni asked, noticing their exchange and frowning.

Pearl had mentioned Barbara and Adrian were stuck in the slave camp for a while, but Lorenzo had just been captured.

"No, he's not," Pearl said softly.

Lorenzo and Adrian looked different.

When Lorenzo heard Pearl deny it and mention Adrian, his eyes darkened.

People from Area A started lining up in front of Pearl, but she didn't find Adrian.

Giovanni reminded her, "You've seen all six hundred people in Area A. It's late. If you want to continue, come back tomorrow."

"Okay," Pearl agreed.

She had no choice; this wasn't her place.

"Let's go back then," Giovanni said.

Just then, a series of coughs behind Pearl made her heart sink.

Pearl was shocked. She realized why Lorenzo's eyes seemed familiar.

He was Oscar!

Pearl hid her excitement and kept walking with Giovanni. At a corner, she suggested, "Giovanni, you have a lot to handle. Let me look for the person myself."

Pearl's breathing was rapid.

She wasn't sure if Giovanni would agree, but she had to try.

Giovanni thought she was looking for Barbara. "Even with Mr. Mitchell's protection, don't push your luck here!"

Giovanni frowned, confused by Pearl's actions.

'She came to find someone and now makes such demands!' He also didn't get why Louis was so lenient with her.

Pearl quickly said, "Didn't you let me look for the person myself? How is that excessive if I'm trying to avoid bothering you?"

"You!" Giovanni's eyes darkened.

But he agreed, "Fine. There are four areas. Area D has the most people. You can only go to one area each day."

"The fixed time each day is 3 PM."

Before Pearl could respond, Giovanni set the time.

"Okay," Pearl said.

Giovanni added, "I want to train Lorenzo a bit. Since you're looking for someone, I'll have him brought over."

Giovanni had someone bring Lorenzo over.

After Giovanni left, Pearl realized he had agreed too quickly, and Louis was now indulging her unconditionally.

This wasn't good; she feared she was becoming a joke to others.

Outside, Pearl kept calm, but back in her room, Oscar hugged her from behind.

"You're fine, thank goodness," he said hoarsely, and Pearl felt his strength and warmth.

Pearl was anxious. She pried Oscar's hands away and turned around. "Oscar, are you crazy for coming here?"

She didn't dare speak too loudly, but her voice trembled.

It was one thing for her to be captured here. Without Louis, she would've been tortured beyond recognition, no matter his intentions.

But Oscar risked his life to sneak in!

Oscar cupped Pearl's face and said hoarsely, "Pearl, you were captured. I couldn't just do nothing."

As long as Pearl was here, he'd stop at nothing to get in.

Pearl saw the determination in Oscar's eyes.

Her throat tightened.

Oscar had a team, but he left everything behind to find her.

She remembered that before Oscar left, he transferred all his assets to her. He had paved the way for her.

"Oscar, we're both being watched. I'm afraid you've already been exposed," Pearl said, trying to push him away.

But his six-foot-three frame towered over her like a mountain.

Oscar didn't care anymore. He grasped her chin and kissed her, prying her lips open to savor her taste and breath.

Only this way could he truly feel her presence.

After a moment, he released her.

"Pearl, as long as I'm here, I won't let anything happen to you." Even if he was exposed, he had now found her anyway.

Before sneaking in, he implanted a chip in his body.

If the system couldn't detect his survival, a missile would target this area based on his location.

But before the bombing, he needed to ensure Pearl's safety.

Pearl clenched her fists. "No, we need to keep our distance. They could come at any moment. Oscar, don't think the worst."

They were in a dire situation, and only hope could keep them going.

Otherwise, it would be an abyss of despair.

"I know," Oscar said. Initially, he was leaning against the door, but now he locked it.

Through a modified silver pendant necklace, he felt for a small button on the back. He pressed it three times, sending a distress signal.

He just needed to get Pearl out, and the others would be taken down.

Pearl noticed his actions and grabbed his hand. "I haven't found Barbara and Adrian yet. I still have things to figure out. Also, there are many innocent people captured as slaves here."

RavenWing and his men were bad, but there was also Louis, who hadn't shown any signs yet.

Oscar didn't expect Pearl's observation skills to be so sharp now. His heart ached for her. He gently caressed her face.

"It's my fault for not being capable enough to protect you. Pearl, once we get out, you should go back to Willow Creek and live your life."

On the battlefield, without keen observation and action, it was a dead end.

Pearl was capable now, but it highlighted his own shortcomings.

Pearl covered his mouth with one hand and wrapped her other arm around his neck. "Don't say that. You're not just Oscar."

He was also "Mr. Brown" to others, and the protector of the local people.

"Pearl," Oscar called her name hoarsely, but the words he wanted to say remained stuck in his throat.
