Chapter 151 Do You Still Know Your Identity
Kittie scoffed. "If she comes again, I definitely won't let her leave easily! We didn't do anything wrong, why should we be afraid of her!"
Pearl's eyes welled up with tears.
Kittie and Evans were doing this for Pearl's sake.
Pearl said hoarsely, "I don't want you to get into conflicts. I'll talk to Hathaway."
Hathaway never liked Pearl.
Now that Oscar was unwilling to divorce, perhaps Hathaway could be a breakthrough.
Pearl cooked a meal for Kittie and Evans before leaving.
Unexpectedly, when Pearl was about to hail a cab at the gate, she saw a black luxury car parked across the street. The window rolled down, revealing Oscar's face.
Oscar had one hand resting outside the window, holding a half-burned cigarette between his long fingers.
Pearl hesitated for a moment but still walked over.
Her opening of the car door immediately drew Oscar's attention.
When Oscar glanced sideways at Pearl, she was already sitting in the front passenger seat. Even though Oscar had opened the window, the smell of smoke inside the car was still overwhelming.
This was probably due to the pregnancy, Pearl had never been this sensitive to smells before.
Oscar said indifferently, "Are you training Sarah to be like you?"
"No."
Pearl didn't expect Oscar to ask this suddenly, but she quickly denied it.
Even if she hadn't chosen Sarah among the job applicants, Pearl would have chosen someone else. That notebook would have been given to someone else. It can only be said that Sarah was able to adapt to different situations flexibly.
She gained Oscar's approval for her adeptness and intelligence.
Oscar sneered. "Do you know what Sarah did after you left? I saw her arrangements were so good, she even wants to take your place."
"Pearl, if all this wasn't with your consent and training, would Sarah dare to go this far?"
Oscar's voice grew colder as he spoke.
As he spoke, Oscar flicked away the cigarette in his hand.
The ground outside was littered with cigarette butts.
Pearl didn't walk that way, so she naturally didn't see it.
Pearl pressed her lips together. "I've been by your side all these years. You should know what kind of person I am. If I arranged it, I would definitely admit it."
Since she didn't arrange it, Pearl naturally wouldn't take responsibility for it.
"Oscar, your mom came to my home. Now both of our parents hope that we will divorce. If you think I proposed it first, then how about you propose the divorce a month later?""
Pearl clenched her palm. As she said this, her gaze was fixed forward, not daring to fall on Oscar.
Oscar said coldly, "Pearl, do you think marriage is a game?"
"No."
Pearl quickly denied it.
Although Pearl and Oscar had a contractual marriage, she was genuinely happy when she married Oscar.
Pearl had also fantasized that she could move Oscar with her true feelings.
But in the end, there was nothing.
Oscar's face darkened. Just as he was about to say something, his phone rang. It was Haley's call. Haley's weak voice sounded in Oscar's ear. "Oscar, why haven't you come to see me yet? I feel like I'm dying."
Oscar frowned. "Aren't you already receiving treatment?"
When Oscar asked this, Haley realized the problem and immediately asked, "Didn't Mr. Lewis tell you I called?"
Oscar said indifferently, "Haley told me. I know you've been poisoned."
Pearl, who was beside him, was stunned when she heard the word "poisoned."
Why did she get poisoned?
What was going on?
Haley felt very hurt. Oscar knew but didn't come over immediately. Oscar had changed; the old Oscar would never have done this!
Haley choked up. "Oscar, do you think I'm pretending? I'm not. I have all the test reports. That liquid vitamin supplement has already been sent for testing."
Hearing this, Pearl understood.
Halley was poisoned by the liquid vitamin supplement that Pearl had delivered. Hathaway cared for Halley deeply enough to consider sending her nutritional supplements.
Hathaway couldn't be the one who poisoned her.
So it must be Pearl!
Pearl said coldly, "Mom asked me to send the nutritional supplements to the hospital, but I never opened them. If I had, Miss Garcia would have noticed."
Pearl wouldn't admit to something she didn't do.
On the other end of the phone, Haley clearly heard Pearl's words. Haley immediately gripped her phone tightly, her face contorting with rage. Haley never expected that Pearl was right next to Oscar!
What kind of distance would allow Pearl to hear so clearly?
"Mrs. Harris, I didn't say you poisoned me. Are you confessing without being asked?" Haley gritted her teeth, trying hard to suppress the anger in her heart.
Oscar didn't want Haley and Pearl to argue over the phone.
Oscar said indifferently, "Since the liquid vitamin supplement has been sent for testing, the truth will come out in due time."
"Aren't you coming to see me?"
As soon as Haley said this, Oscar hung up the phone.
Haley knew Oscar hadn't listened to what she said before she finished speaking.
Haley wanted to smash her phone.
Damn Pearl, why is she so annoying?
Inside the car.
Oscar had no intention of driving.
Now, with Pearl and Oscar sitting there, neither spoke, and the atmosphere became very tense.
Pearl pressed her lips together and spoke first, "I've said everything I wanted to say. If you don't believe me, there's nothing I can do. I'm going back to pack my things."
"Are we divorced?"
Oscar was furious when he heard Pearl's words.
They weren't even divorced yet, and Pearl was already talking about separation.
Pearl said calmly, "We will divorce sooner or later, Oscar. I didn't bring it up because I didn't want us to argue, but you've seen what's been happening recently."
Hathaway hated Pearl so much, always hoping Pearl and Oscar would divorce so Oscar could marry Haley. And now, Haley was poisoned.
Why not just say Pearl was trying to kill someone?
Oscar said coldly, "What happened? You went shopping and got into a conflict with someone, got bullied, and then caused a public outcry. Pearl, do you still know your identity?"
Pearl was silent.
Pearl was very clear about her identity; Oscar's secretary and his unpublicized wife.
Oscar was blaming her now.
"Oscar, I'm sorry for affecting you. To prevent this from happening again in the future, you should separate from me as soon as possible. Otherwise, I'm afraid I'll continue to affect you even more"
Pearl spoke calmly, but her eyes stung with unshed tears.
