Chapter 874 Do You Regret It
Electra went to visit Amy.
Amy was in a bad state.
"Do you regret it now?"
If Amy hadn't been so fixated on Nathaniel, she wouldn't have ended up in such a mess.
Amy gave a bitter smile. "Regret? Life's too complicated for that."
She held Electra's hand. "Electra, learn from my mistakes. Make sure you see things clearly and never do something foolish for someone who doesn't love you."
Amy had indeed provided a valuable lesson.
Electra felt indignant on Amy's behalf.
It was her own fault. Electra had wanted to make things difficult for Saskia, but in the end, she only hurt herself.
"I'm sorry, Amy. I couldn't help you get back at them. I still remember it all."
"Don't apologize to me. You can think of me and come to see me, and even want to help me; that's enough."
"Don't go against Nathaniel for me, and don't target Saskia. You're no match for them."
When Nathaniel was a lawyer, he had to be cautious about many things.
Now that he was no longer a lawyer, he was completely unrestrained.
Electra sighed. "Yeah, I know. That's why I feel so ashamed when I face you. Live well, and when you get out, live freely. I'll be waiting for you."
"Okay."
After talking with Amy for a long time, Electra finally left.
But Electra didn't expect that she would end up discussing a collaboration with Saskia.
Electra looked down on Saskia from the bottom of her heart. "Someone like you, coming from the slums, if it weren't for Nathaniel, who would know who you are? I really don't know where you get your confidence to show off here."
"Saskia, do you think those people are flattering you?"
Electra laughed.
Those people flattered Saskia because of Nathaniel.
Nathaniel now not only managed the Egan Group, but he also had built a vast network during his time as a lawyer.
His best friend was Oscar, who was the most famous business tycoon in Willow Creek. Even Harold Lewis, who worked under him, had gone solo.
With such a background, who would dare to go against Nathaniel?
"I never thought anyone should flatter me. If you don't want to discuss a collaboration, you can leave. I'm not stopping you. But if you want to continue, then stop with the nonsense."
Saskia's red lips moved slowly, her demeanor cold and proud.
Seeing Saskia like this, with her every move exuding Nathaniel's aura, Electra was displeased but knew she had to collaborate with Saskia.
Such a good opportunity couldn't be missed.
Electra smiled. "Not now. How about this, Ms. Fuller? Let's meet tonight at the BidHub club."
Before Saskia could respond, Electra took a step forward. "Ms. Fuller, with your past, I'm sure you're familiar with such places. No need for me to send a location or find someone to guide you."
Electra did it on purpose.
But for Saskia, securing this collaboration with Electra meant Electra wouldn't trouble her in the future.
She thought it was a good deal.
"When?"
"Ten o'clock."
Electra gave the time, and Saskia didn't see any problem with it.
Saskia went back to her tasks.
Nathaniel didn't want to see Saskia so busy. Benjamin was at an age where he needed his parents around. Although his grandmother doted on him, it couldn't compare to having his parents.
"Why don't you stay home and take care of Benjamin? I'd feel better knowing he's with you. Besides, I'm making good money now. Don't worry, I can support you both."
The Egan Group was huge, and Nathaniel's starting fee as a lawyer was in the millions.
They wouldn't have to worry about food or clothing for the rest of their lives.
Saskia shook her head. "I used to do all sorts of odd jobs. And didn't you support me in doing those? What, Nathaniel, you change your mind faster than flipping a book?"
She had gone back to studying law with Nathaniel's support.
But now he was saying these things, clearly wavering, wanting her to stay home.
Stay home and do what?
Take care of the child?
For her, this was a great opportunity that she couldn't pass up.
"That's not what I meant. I just see you running around, and it's exhausting. Saskia, I love you so much, I can't bear to see you suffer."
Nathaniel wrapped his arm around Saskia's shoulder, speaking so gently.
At that moment, his eyes were full of Saskia.
How could Saskia not understand Nathaniel's feelings?
But the hard-won opportunity, she had to prove herself.
Moreover, Saskia had to refute those people. She had to show everyone that she could stand shoulder to shoulder with Nathaniel, that she could be as excellent as him.
"Alright, I won't say that anymore. Now, get some rest and go to work tomorrow. Is there anything you want to eat? I'll order it for you, or get you some cocoa?"
Nathaniel was treating Saskia like a child, buying her whatever she wanted and always considering her feelings.
Saskia knew, but tonight, she wasn't in the mood.
She was still thinking about how to deal with Electra.
Nathaniel noticed her distraction. "Why are you so absent-minded? Did something happen?"
"Nothing much, just that I have to go out to meet a collaborator later." Saskia didn't tell Nathaniel that she was meeting Electra.
But how could Nathaniel not sense it?
Nathaniel's face fell. "Who are you meeting? Aren't you... Saskia, you're not being honest with me. Tell me, who are you meeting?"
Nathaniel felt a sense of crisis.
Saskia had been a top law student and the most beautiful girl, with many suitors.
Now that Saskia was regaining her pride, how could Nathaniel not be worried?
Seeing Nathaniel so serious, Saskia couldn't hide it anymore.
She smiled lightly. "I didn't expect my collaborator today to be Electra, but this collaboration is very important to me. If I can secure it, I won't have to worry in the industry."
"Even if you don't secure it, you don't have to worry in the industry. Isn't it because I'm backing you? Did someone say something nasty to you while I wasn't around?"
Nathaniel's expression became particularly serious.
Seeing him like this, Saskia quickly said, "No one dares to say anything nasty to me now."
