Chapter 621 Gone Mad

"No way, Grandpa! I need to see Janetta. I have to be with her." Henry's pleas fell on deaf ears; none of the elders backed him up.

With such a huge mess, everyone was looking out for their own interests. They all knew what was at stake.

The Doe Family shouldn't have to put up with this kind of disgrace.

Henry got dragged upstairs, and Hunter turned to Patricia, "Patricia, you handle this. Make sure the Clark Family gets the message. They’re not fit to be our in-laws."

Patricia nodded. Honestly, even if Hunter hadn't said anything, she would've done the same.

Damian never saw it coming that his own wife would turn on him. This betrayal not only shattered his pride but also smeared the Clark Family's name.

He glared at Savannah, who was lounging on the sofa like she didn't have a care in the world. He wanted to strangle her.

But Damian kept his cool, barely.

"Do you realize what you've done?" he asked.

Savannah chuckled, "Of course I do. I even thought you might hit me right then and there. But lucky for me, Oscar beat you to it."

Damian touched his swollen cheek and aching jaw, his eyes burning with rage.

He swallowed his anger and forced a smile, "You're part of the Clark Family too. What's in it for you?"

Savannah looked up, her eyes mocking. "Damian, do you really think keeping this quiet would make people respect me? Didn't you hear what the Doe Family said? They said you took good care of Janetta. Can't you tell if that's a compliment or an insult?"

Damian stayed silent. As long as he didn't cross any lines, being nice to Janetta was fine. After all, they were publicly half-siblings.

Frowning and troubled by how such a thing could happen, fragments of last night's memories suddenly flashed through his mind, and he immediately understood, filled with regret; he should have recognized Janetta by her familiar perfume.

Savannah chuckled again, "Thinking about last night?"

Called out, Damian snapped. He lunged, grabbed Savannah's hair, and pinned her to the ground.

"Damian, if you hit me, I'll call the cops. Let's see how long you last in Willow Creek." Savannah didn't back down. Thinking about Damian and Janetta made her blood boil.

She kept taunting Damian, even though her head felt like it was going to explode, she wouldn't shut up.

After what felt like forever, Damian punched the ground. "If I'm so unbearable, let's get a divorce."

Savannah laughed. "You think that'll get you Janetta? Dream on. I'm not divorcing you."

She struggled to her feet and got in Damian's face, "Damian, no divorce means the only way out is widowhood. You up for that?"

Damian clenched his fists, fighting the urge to kill her.

He couldn't go to jail; he had to protect Janetta.

The Doe Family hadn't said anything yet, but the marriage was definitely off.

Damian knew he had to stay with Janetta, so he smirked, "No divorce? Fine. The world already knows what kind of person I am. I don't care. From now on, I'll be with Janetta openly."

"Damian, get lost. She's your sister," Savannah spat, bringing up Janetta's identity right then and there.

Damian looked at her like she was a joke, just as his phone rang. It was his assistant, who had been stationed at the hospital for any updates. If Janetta woke up or anything happened, he was to call immediately.

Anything about Janetta, Damian didn't mess around. He answered right away, "What's up?"

"Patricia came by. She said they want to call off the engagement and, given Janetta's condition, they won't ask for compensation. But..."

The assistant trailed off, making Damian anxious. "But what? Spit it out."

"But it seems Patricia plans to make things tough for the Clark Group in the future."

Damian couldn't care less about that. He chuckled and said, "Keep an eye on things. Let me know the second Janetta wakes up."

After a moment, he added, "I'm heading over now. Are Oscar and Pearl still at the hospital?"

Before the assistant could answer, Pearl grabbed the phone and coldly warned, "Damian, tell your people to leave. Also, I won't let you see Janetta again. From now on, we're done."

Pearl thought Damian had hurt Janetta. After all, if he hadn't agreed, Janetta wouldn't have gone through with it.

Damian knew Janetta was supposed to get married today, yet he still went to her, clearly with bad intentions.

She blamed everything on Damian and wouldn't let him see Janetta again.

Damian said nothing and hung up.

Savannah laughed. "Looks like Pearl's got some sense. Too bad Janetta doesn't."

The sound of a slap echoed as Savannah was hit.

Damian sneered and warned, "Say one more bad thing about Janetta, and next time it won't be just a slap."

With that, he stormed out and headed straight to the hospital.

Damian didn't run into Pearl or Oscar but used his connections to wait for news in the doctor's office.

It wasn't until late at night that Janetta finally woke up.

Pearl, who had been by her bedside, immediately leaned in, "Do you want some water? Are you feeling uncomfortable anywhere?"

Janetta looked at her, then around the room, and asked, "I want to see my mom."

Pearl was stunned. After a moment, she forced a smile and poured her a glass of water. "Have some water first to moisten your throat. Are you hungry? I'll get you something to eat."

Janetta drank the water and wiped her mouth with her hand. "Give me another glass."

Pearl smiled bitterly, nodded, and poured her another glass.

Again, Janetta drank it all in one go. After finishing, she handed the glass back to Pearl and grinned, which made Pearl feel uneasy.

It was an innocent, bright smile, without any sadness.

With a certain suspicion in her heart, Pearl couldn't believe it and tentatively asked, "What's your name?"

"My name is Janie," Janetta smiled. Seeing Pearl not respond, she tilted her head and asked, "Don't you believe me?"

Pearl replied bitterly, "I believe you. Do you know why you're in the hospital?"

Janetta was momentarily stunned. "Hospital? Where's the hospital? Aren't I in bed?"

Confirming her suspicion, Pearl trembled and ran out to find the doctor.

The assistant, who had been secretly observing the situation in the ward, immediately reported to Damian when he saw Pearl leave.

Soon, Damian walked into the ward and saw Janetta playing with her hair. He called out to her tenderly, "Janetta."

Janetta looked up and grinned, saying, "My name is Janie."
