Chapter 120 Arthur Kidnapped Pearl for You
Seraphina didn't dodge, just turned her head and looked at Pearl. "Pearl, why are you so angry? It's illegal to hit someone!"
Pearl sternly said, "The things you've done could land you in jail!"
Seraphina, unafraid, smiled and said, "What things? Pearl, don't falsely accuse me. I haven't done anything, I just came here for a vacation."
"Pearl, what are you doing?"
Suddenly, not far away, Hathaway also walked over. Seeing her hitting someone, her face looked grim. "What a bad temper. How could you hit Seraphina? She's carrying the Brown family's heir in her belly, can you afford to harm it?"
Pearl looked over, and Hathaway came over to support Seraphina.
Seraphina, taking advantage of this, had a victorious smile in her eyes. "Hathaway, it's okay. She can't conceive, so let me do it. It's normal for Pearl to be angry when she sees me."
Hathaway sarcastically said, "She can't have children, so she thinks others shouldn't either!"
Pearl frowned at Seraphina, who relied on her lack of solid evidence. This was also the result Seraphina wanted to see.
Pearl had no way to deal with her. She would definitely be very annoyed.
When people died, the trail of evidence died with them.
How could Seraphina let Arthur live?
Arthur couldn't lay a hand on Pearl. Otherwise, he might sue her when he went back and exposed her. If Seraphina got involved in the kidnapping, she would go to jail.
Seraphina didn't want to go to jail, so she needed a scapegoat. Arthur was the best option.
Once he was gone, no one would know what she had done.
"Why are you standing here?" Hathaway supported Seraphina. "If I see you bullying Seraphina again, don't blame me for what I'll do to you. If you harm my grandson, I will fight you!"
Seraphina said again, "Pearl, I told you I came here with Hathaway for a vacation to relax. You wouldn't believe me. They say the air here is good for me and the child."
Seraphina caressed her belly, showing off in front of Pearl. She knew Pearl had come here for the funeral. Seraphina took the initiative to come out and relax, which was good for the child. Hathaway happened to have nothing to do, so she accompanied her over. It was just a coincidence.
Pearl stared at her belly. It was too early to see a bulge.
Pearl looked at Hathaway again, who was now happy. She thought she could hold her grandson, and she looked forward to it every day.
For them, Pearl had done her best. She didn't want to show mercy and said coldly, "You haven't even had a test yet. You don't know if it's the Brown family's child. Isn't it too early to say now?"
At the sound of this, Seraphina's face stiffened, feeling a bit panicked, and immediately retorted, "Pearl, what are you talking about? You can hit me and scold me, but how can you slander my child? Aren't you afraid of karma?"
Hathaway also paused for a moment, but due to her arrogance, she still said angrily, "Pearl, you're just jealous! Seraphina, don't listen to her nonsense. The first month is crucial. Don't get angry and affect the baby."
Pearl no longer mentioned their blind confidence. "Don't consider too many possibilities. That's the Brown family's business. But..."
Pearl's sharp gaze fell on Seraphina. "If you've made mistakes, you must pay the price. Be careful not to let the sins fall on the child. Don't think you can escape punishment!"
Only they understood these words. Pearl's words were a bit severe.
Seraphina subconsciously covered her belly, her palms sweating, forcing a smile. "I haven't done anything wrong, so I'm not afraid of retribution."
Hathaway didn't quite understand their cryptic conversation. But she felt something was off with Pearl.
"Why are you here?" Hathaway asked coldly. "I came out for a break and ran into you."
Seraphina quickly replied, "I just asked, it seems like Pearl is attending a funeral here, right in this place."
"A funeral?" Hathaway looked embarrassed and quickly pulled Seraphina away. "Don't stand with her, it's bad luck!"
Pearl pursed her lips and said indifferently, "The whole area you're in is a cemetery."
"So that's what this is. Why did you come to this place, Seraphina?" Hathaway said. "Let's go somewhere else. This place has an oppressive atmosphere, it's not good for the baby!"
As they talked, Isabelle, who was standing at the cemetery entrance, saw them. She saw Seraphina's figure, and her expression turned a bit ugly.
It was that woman!
Isabelle clenched her fists and furrowed her brows; why was that woman here?
She and her mother had initially slandered Pearl at Seraphina's instigation.
Did Seraphina really know Pearl?
Did Seraphina have a grudge against her?
Suddenly she remembered what Pearl had said, that there was another culprit in her father's death, a mastermind...
"Isabelle," Olivia's hoarse voice said. "What are you looking at?"
Olivia had just experienced the pain of losing her husband. Her face was haggard and she was ready to go home, but then she saw Isabelle standing there motionless. She followed her gaze and happened to see Pearl's figure. She couldn't see the others.
"Why are you watching her? Arthur is dead. Pearl hasn't shed a tear, she's a cold-blooded creature!" Olivia said resentfully.
Isabelle came back to her senses and looked at Olivia, seeming a bit absent-minded, "Mom, let's go back."
Isabelle lowered her head, troubled by something, unsure whether to speak up.
Back at home, Arthur's photo hung on the wall. Olivia would still cry emotionally at the sight of it.
Someone who was there just a few days ago suddenly wasn't there anymore. It felt so desolate.
Crash!
Isabelle accidentally broke a cup.
This startled Olivia, who was immersed in grief. She turned around. "Isabelle, what's going on with you? You can't even hold a cup steady! Our family is not the same as before. We have debts to pay, we have to tighten our belts, and you have to be careful."
Isabelle's face turned pale. Looking at the very sad Olivia, she couldn't help but walk over. "Mom, have you ever thought about what Pearl said?"
"What did she say?"
"That someone killed Dad."
Olivia's tone grew heavier. "You believe her nonsense too!"
Isabelle hesitated, feeling conflicted.
Seeing Isabelle silent for a long time, Olivia said again, "Isabelle, from now on, we'll depend on each other. If anything happens, if you're bullied, tell me. Even though Dad is gone, I'm still here. I can definitely support this family!"
Olivia was determined. She didn't want to be looked down upon.
Anxiously fidgeting with her fingers, Isabelle looked at Olivia, her emotions rising. "Mom, I'm sorry! It's my fault. Dad kidnapped Pearl for you! I should have stopped him at the time, but I didn't. I didn't mean for Dad to die!"
As she spoke, Isabelle broke down in tears.
Olivia's tears stopped. She just looked at Isabelle in shock. "Explain yourself more clearly."
