Chapter 503 Amidst the Schemes

Oscar walked up to Pearl with a gentle smile. "Pearl, let's get remarried."

"We'll go back to Willow Creek together," he said, determined.

A family reunion had always been a dream for Pearl. Now, as it was happening, it felt surreal.

She reached out and touched Oscar's face, confirming it was real.

Pearl's throat tightened.

Suddenly, Christopher collapsed, convulsing in pain.

"Christopher!" Pearl shouted.

She had once pitied Christopher, but now it was a mother's concern.

Pearl held Christopher, trembling.

Jeffery quickly approached. "Pearl, let me take him. I'll treat him!"

Pearl reluctantly let go.

Oscar realized that while Christopher was with Charles, he ate regularly and had a special dairy product daily.

Oscar clenched his fist.

He grabbed Pearl's shoulder. "Pearl, I need to take Christopher back to Charles. Wait for me for three days."

"Does Christopher need medication? Oscar, I want to go with you!"

Christopher's condition didn't look like asthma; it seemed like he needed medication. Oscar's words confirmed her suspicions.

Oscar glanced at Pearl and, after a pause, nodded.

Five years had passed, and Pearl had grown a lot.

But if he hadn't arrived in time, Pearl would have been thrown into the sea by Charles's people. If he took Pearl back to Serenea...

Pearl's voice echoed in his ears, "Oscar, don't leave me behind!"

"Okay."

Pearl's determined look made it hard for Oscar to argue.

He realized he had proposed remarriage to Pearl and had left her behind for five years.

Pearl didn't want to be abandoned again. She knew Christopher was her child and wouldn't accept being left behind.

Oscar pulled Pearl tightly into his arms.

Jeffery had just stabilized Christopher when Oscar and Pearl arrived. When he learned Pearl was going with Oscar, Jeffery felt disappointed.

He had settled in Serenea, and if Pearl and Oscar were going back to Willow Creek, he couldn't follow and disrupt their lives.

That meant he wouldn't see Pearl for a long time.

"Take care on the road. If you feel unwell or need anything, call me anytime. I'll be there right away," Jeffery offered.

Pearl was about to decline, but Oscar spoke first, "Jeffery, come with us."

Pearl instinctively looked at Oscar and understood his intention.

Jeffery quickly responded, "Okay."

As long as he could stay by Pearl's side, he was willing to do so in any capacity.

Soon, they set off.

Louis didn't stop Pearl from making her decision. It wasn't until Jeffery followed Oscar to the Presidential Palace that he realized Oscar's true identity.

Oscar instructed Jeffery, "I need to take Christopher for treatment. Keep an eye on Pearl for me. When I get Christopher's medication, you help me monitor it."

"Okay," Jeffery responded immediately. But Pearl was unwilling. Just as she was about to speak, Jeffery grabbed her. "Pearl, in this situation, following them won't help."

"Follow Oscar's arrangements. Don't worry, with me here, I'll get whatever medication is needed," Jeffery said firmly.

Even if it meant becoming an experimental subject again, he didn't mind.

Pearl knew Jeffery would help, but she was more worried about Christopher. A five-year-old shouldn't have to endure such pain.

She wished she could take his place, but she knew her grief wouldn't help. She had to push it aside.

Meanwhile, Oscar held Christopher and found Charles, who had anticipated Oscar's return but didn't expect him to bring Christopher.

"You sent Christopher away, so why bring him back now? Do you think you can come and go as you please?" Charles sneered.

He had always wondered why Oscar had been so adamant against him; it turned out he had sent Christopher away.

Oscar's voice was low. "Stop talking nonsense. Give me the medication. You have two other children who can take over your position."

Charles had plenty of other options.

"Who I choose is none of your business. If you want the medication, you must follow my arrangements."

"Then let Pearl take Christopher," Oscar interrupted, his expression cold and determined.

Charles's sneer deepened. "Do you think you have the right to bargain? You're overestimating yourself."

"If you don't agree, then you must want both Christopher and me dead," Oscar said clearly, not joking.

Charles laughed. "You won't let Christopher die. He should stay in Serenea, not be taken by Pearl."

Especially since Pearl was an Eldorian woman. Taking Christopher would make him an Eldorian?

"I don't want things to get too strained between us," Oscar said, pulling out a gun and aiming it at Charles's head.

Charles, being in a high position and having seen all kinds of chaos in Serenea over the years, wasn't easily threatened by a gun.

Charles grabbed Oscar's hand.

But Oscar had planned everything.

Many people saw their confrontation. After all, he was in Serenea and didn't want to be controlled by Charles forever.

Moreover, Oscar wasn't wearing a mask. During his time in Serenea, he always wore a mask. No one except Charles had seen his true face.

And after serving in peacekeeping missions for so long, it was impossible that no one had seen his face. Sure enough, someone recognized him!

"He's an officer from Tranquiloria, Oscar!"

"Mr. Stewart is actually Oscar!"
