Chapter 375 Reputation Plummeting
Haley was still dreaming of becoming a star.
As long as she wasn't exposed, she could still make it big and win awards someday.
Once she became a top actress, she'd have nothing to worry about.
But reality hit hard.
The report exposed everything that happened at Kevin's base, even some unknown secrets.
Haley was terrified.'This is going to ruin my career.'
She barely had a break when this happened, affecting her future roles.
Several directors had already approached her for films. She couldn't afford to be ruined.
Haley's face changed. "Who did this?"
"Horizon Network."
Haley angrily threw a cup. "Pearl! She's trying to mess with me. After everything I've been through, I'm still here. Doesn't she know she can't take me down? That bitch!"
Mae had seen Haley lose her temper, but never with such a sinister expression. She was a bit scared.
Haley continued, "Does she really think that just because she made one movie, she's part of this industry? She has no idea what my status is now. Even her best work can't compete with mine."
Mae had to be honest. "Haley, our show has been trashed by netizens, and even the novel's author is being cyberbullied, while their show has become a hit!"
"What are you saying? How is that possible! Weren't we popular from the start? How could their web series be a hit! You're lying to me. How did things turn out like this when I came back!"
Haley was in shock. She was blindly confident in her acting, thinking that since her first show had a good reputation, the subsequent ones would also be loved by the audience.
But that wasn't the case. Haley's competitiveness and jealousy led to the failure of her second show, now labeled a flop. The more attention it got, the louder the criticism became.
She had been in the news for negative reasons recently, and there were also scandals.
Netizens were tired of Haley's behavior.
Moreover, the negative news scared her fans, and many chose to unfollow her.
Seeing this, Haley felt desperate.
Her life hadn't been particularly glorious, but there were always people paving the way for her. She always thought everything would go smoothly.
Reality taught her a lesson.
Seeing all the criticism online, Haley's face turned pale. "Pearl wants to ruin me! Who does she think she is, thinking she can beat me? I'm Haley, I'm going to win awards in the future, how can her slander be right!"
She angrily threw everything off the table!
But she still had to think of a way to fix this.
"Call the agent right now and have her handle the PR!" Haley yelled at Mae with red eyes.
Mae was also frantic. Many media reporters were calling non-stop, so she had turned off her phone.
She quickly turned it back on and called the agent.
The agent angrily said, "You keep causing problems every few days, Haley, you need to think about yourself. Do you have any sense of responsibility? You don't even take your acting seriously and now you've caused such a mess. If you commit a crime, not even ten companies can save you. Whoever is your agent is unlucky. You need to figure this out yourself. If you can't solve it, you'll be banned from activities. I'm done. Get an agent who can fix your problems!"
Hearing this, Haley got even more agitated. "How can you say that? You can't believe things without evidence. If you don't handle this well, the company will hold you accountable. You're my agent. If you don't fix this, how can I act!"
"Now you remember I'm your agent. But whenever something happens, you go to the company. Mr. Brown always helps you. Go find him. Why come to me? You always treat me like I'm invisible. Now that Mr. Brown isn't helping you, you think of me. I'm done being your agent!" The agent had also been mistreated by Haley. She wouldn't have put up with it if she didn't know Haley had a powerful backer.
The agent hung up before Haley could finish.
With Haley frequently trending for negative reasons, even ten agents would be overwhelmed.
Not getting a response, Haley's face twisted in anger, and she smashed her phone. "She's kicking me when I'm down, that bastard!"
Mae was also frantic. "Haley, why don't we go to Mr. Brown? Aren't you two getting married? He'll definitely help you."
Mae didn't know what had happened and thought Oscar and Haley were still in love. She believed Oscar would handle things for her.
"If that worked, would I be in this situation?" Haley snapped.
She was obsessed, but deep down she knew that just because Oscar let her go didn't mean he would always be there for her.
Otherwise, this wouldn't have been exposed.
The doorbell rang.
"Ms. Garcia, Mrs. Brown is here to see you again," the maid reported.
Mae immediately interrupted, "Didn't I say to send her away whenever she comes?"
"Wait." Haley asked, "Is it Hathaway?"
Mae complained. "Mrs. Brown comes to see you often. I always say you're busy and not home, but she's very persistent."
"Let her in."
Haley was desperate and saw Hathaway as her last hope because she knew Hathaway felt indebted to her and would do anything for her.
Hathaway had come many times, thinking there was no hope.
But this time, she got to see her.
She was overjoyed and happily called out, "Haley!"
She brought in the chicken soup she made.
She always brought it when she came.
Seeing the person she missed day and night, Hathaway's face softened with rare tenderness. She didn't blame Haley for not seeing her. Instead, she felt sorry for Haley. "Why did you just come home now? We haven't seen each other for so long. I missed you so much. You seem thinner. I made chicken soup, it's very nutritious."
She put the thermos on the table and reminded her, "The soup is still hot."
Haley, with red eyes, softly said, "Hathaway, I'm sorry. I've been so busy with work that I haven't been home much. I'm really sorry to keep you waiting."
"I understand. I don't blame you." Hathaway held her hand and suddenly noticed her red eyes. "What's wrong? I saw you crying as soon as I came in. Did Oscar bully you? I saw the recent reports saying you two are getting married soon. Oscar hasn't been home much and even moved out. I can't reach him. If he really bullied you, I'll definitely find him."
Hathaway was very happy about this.
Suddenly, they were getting married. Although they hadn't told her directly, Hathaway could only find out through online searches.
Upon hearing this, Haley's eyes reddened even more, and she said, "It's nothing, Hathaway. Don't worry too much."
Mae interjected, "How can she not worry? Recently, Haley's reputation has been ruined by Pearl. Pearl even interfered in their relationship. Now Haley might be banned from the entertainment industry!"
