Chapter 175 No Need
Oscar thought for a moment and decided to go with Aurora. "Let's go."
Thus, Pearl was left behind.
Pearl didn't want to stay in the private room facing Aurora's assistant.
Especially since Pearl remembered that Matthew's son's birthday party was today, and Janetta would definitely come. Pearl contacted Janetta while walking out.
But before Janetta could pick up the phone, someone spotted Pearl. "Isn't that Pearl? Now that she is Mr. Brown's secretary, she has lost even the most basic humanity!"
"Exactly! First, she used $5000 to get rid of Daniel, saying she had something to do, but now she's here."
"Didn't you see her just come out of the private room?"
"She doesn't want to see her classmates but has plenty of time to serve her boss!"
Pearl initially didn't want to pay attention to them, but their words became increasingly harsh.
These were her former college classmates, yet they spoke so nastily.
Pearl glared at them coldly. "Shut your filthy mouths."
"She is so arrogant just being a secretary. Imagine how arrogant she'd be if she became Mrs. Brown?" said Mia, a short-haired girl, who was crossing her arms and looking at Pearl with disdain.
Pearl's eyes were icy. "Whether I become Mrs. Brown or not, what does it have to do with you?"
"It has nothing to do with me. But seeing someone like you makes me sick."
"Then shut your eyes."
Being too kind invites bullying.
Pearl understood this well.
Pearl immediately retorted.
"How dare you shout to me?"
Mia was instantly furious.
She raised her hand to hit Pearl, but Pearl grabbed her wrist.
Seeing she couldn't hit Pearl, Mia became even angrier. "What are you all standing around for? Help me!"
At Mia's shout, the others joined in.
Pearl could handle one person, but with several, she felt she was in trouble today.
Unexpectedly.
Pearl wasn't beaten up; someone pulled her back and shielded her.
"You're all women, why make things difficult for each other? This is bullying."
The voice carried a hint of anger.
Pearl was stunned.
Pearl didn't expect that at such a critical moment, Adrian would protect her!
"Bullying? Why not say she's arrogant? Are you her lover?" Mia's eyes fell sharply on Adrian, her words harsh.
Pearl felt that she had always been kind to people during her four years of college.
Despite being classmates, these people harbored such malice towards her.
Some people are born malicious!
Pearl stepped forward and coldly scolded Mia, "You know whether I'm arrogant or you're making things difficult for me! Apologize, and this will be over."
Mia didn't take Pearl seriously at all. "What if I don't ? Pearl , it's not illegal to insult someone, and I didn't hit you. What are you going to do? Call your boss and send us all to jail?"
Pearl didn't look at Mia again.
Mia was so arrogant, with no regard for their past as classmates, so Pearl saw no need to consider it either.
Thus, Pearl directly called the police.
Even if she couldn't get them jailed, a reprimand was certainly possible.
"Pearl, being as malicious as you are is really something else!"
"I think the malicious ones are you all! If it weren't for me, you would have already ganged up on her!" Adrian scolded Mia and the other women angrily.
Who would have thought that women could be so cruel to each other?
"Can't we defend ourselves?" Mia remained arrogant.
Adrian wanted to retort, but Pearl pulled him back. "There is no need to talk to someone like them."
Adrian felt a surge of emotion, because Pearl had touched him!
Although it didn't mean much, to Adrian, Pearl was the girl he liked the most, the one he loved but couldn't have.
For Pearl to make such a gesture, Adrian was very happy.
Oscar, who had returned, saw everything.
Oscar's eyes were cold and filled with hostility.
Aurora, standing nearby, clearly saw Oscar's expression.
It was a man's possessiveness and anger.
"Pearl, how come so many people are around you in such a short time?" Aurora called out to Pearl deliberately, her face cold.
Pearl instinctively looked over when she heard Aurora's voice.
To her dismay, she saw Oscar!
Oscar's eyes were cold, wanting to destroy everything.
"These people are deliberately causing trouble, but I've already called the police," Pearl said calmly, staring at Aurora for several seconds.
Aurora's expression didn't change.
These people were Pearl's classmates.
They were here to attend Matthew's son's birthday party.
The party was moved up because they were making donations for the child.
Even if Aurora held a grudge against Pearl, she wouldn't go to such lengths.
Aurora smiled. "That's good. Mr. Brown, hurry up and get your things. We need to go to the fireworks show. If it starts, we won't be able to get in."
Finally, Aurora reminded Oscar.
Oscar, however, said indifferently, "No need."
With that, Oscar turned around.
Oscar had intended to come back for Pearl, but unexpectedly, Adrian appeared by her side.
They seemed to get along well.
They could run into each other anywhere.
Oscar turned his head again.
Aurora quickly followed Oscar.
Not long after Oscar left, the police arrived.
Pearl briefly explained the situation. "They were talking about me behind my back, saying I was someone's lover. I couldn't stand it and retorted, and then they tried to gang up on me. If it weren't for my friend, I would have been beaten by them."
"she rail against me first! It's true. At a birthday party, she gave $5000 but didn't show up. Now that we see her, of course, we find it strange. We argued a bit, but we didn't insult her, right?" Mia still refused to admit her mistake.
Pearl didn't want to argue with Mia. "Sir, there's surveillance here."
It would be clear who started the fight.
This was just a dispute. After reviewing the surveillance, it was clear it hadn't escalated to mutual fighting.
The police only gave them a reprimand.
Although Mia was unhappy, she couldn't do anything to Pearl with the police present.
After Mia and the others left, Adrian slowly spoke to Pearl, "I noticed Oscar was in anger just now. It seemed like he misunderstood us. Do you want me to explain it to him?"
