Chapter 509 She Has Feelings for Him
Held by Oscar, Pearl could hear his strong, steady heartbeat.
Oscar had been with her since they arrived. She initially thought of coming alone because she had never done anything for Christopher.
The thick fog quickly cleared, and they started their journey back.
Eldoria was in turmoil. RavenWing and the others were really worried about Pearl and Oscar, especially Pearl. They didn't want her to get hurt.
When they returned, RavenWing was angry and said to Oscar, "That was my list. I know the quickest way to find those things. You're not familiar with this area, so why did you go up the mountain?"
The medicines RavenWing listed were to save Christopher.
He didn't notice Pearl saw the list.
If something happened to Pearl, he would never forgive himself.
But when Pearl handed him the seven-leaf clover she had picked, RavenWing was speechless.
He had listed the medicines himself, which only grew locally in Eldoria. He knew how delicate and rare this seven-leaf clover, called "daughter" by the locals, was.
The process Pearl and Oscar went through to find it must have been really tough.
"Save Christopher first," Pearl said hoarsely, ignoring her own exhaustion and messy state.
"Okay," RavenWing responded.
RavenWing then said, "You two go rest first. Come see Christopher later."
"Okay," Pearl replied, with Oscar by her side.
But Pearl didn't see Louis and Jeffery.
She couldn't help but ask, "Where are Louis and Jeffery?"
Or did they have other plans for Christopher?
"Jeffery is treating Louis."
"What happened to him?"
RavenWing had just started to speak when Pearl interrupted him anxiously, her eyes full of urgency.
RavenWing pressed his lips together and said softly, "There was sudden turmoil in Eldoria, and Louis was injured."
Under Louis's leadership, Eldoria had been improving and had even allied with some small neighboring countries. But now, RavenWing said there was turmoil.
'Could it be Kevin's doing?' Pearl decided to find Louis.
Oscar knew what Pearl was thinking. He grabbed her hand and said in a deep voice, "I'll go with you."
They had endured hardships to find the seven-leaf clover, and they were exhausted, but they didn't rest before going to see Louis.
'Pearl still has feelings for Louis. If she has feelings for Louis, she could have feelings for me too.' Thinking of this, RavenWing's resolve grew stronger.
He had to cure Christopher!
This way, it would ease the tension between him and Pearl.
Pearl and Oscar quickly went to see Louis, with Jimena by his side.
Seeing Pearl, Jimena immediately stood up and greeted, "Ms. Mitchell."
"How is he now?" Pearl asked, looking at the unconscious Louis lying on the bed.
Jeffery replied, "He was almost fatally injured, but fortunately, we saved him in time. The anesthesia hasn't worn off yet; he'll wake up in a while."
Jeffery noticed Pearl's exhaustion and the redness in her eyes.
Pearl would do anything for Christopher. He had wanted to go with her, but Oscar had accompanied her instead.
Jeffery had to stay in Eldoria to help RavenWing save Christopher. Unexpectedly, Eldoria was attacked, and both he and RavenWing were busy saving people. Now RavenWing was in the lab, and Jeffery was by Louis's side.
Hearing Jeffery's words, Pearl finally breathed a sigh of relief. Louis was okay. She also noticed Jimena, who was guarding Louis.
Jimena had seen her as a rival before, but now she was staying by Louis's side without leaving. She truly loved Louis, so Pearl didn't need to stay any longer.
Pearl and Oscar left. Jeffery also found it inconvenient to stay, so he instructed Jimena, "Call me if you need anything; I'll be outside."
"Okay," Jimena nodded, and Jeffery left.
Jimena looked at the unconscious Louis on the bed, her eyes filled with determination. She had only one thought: to stay by Louis's side until he woke up.
Jeffery stood outside the tent, feeling an uncontrollable irritation. He couldn't help but light a cigarette.
Meanwhile, Pearl and Oscar returned to their place.
Giovanni had the servants prepare new clothes, food, and drinks for her.
Pearl went to take a bath, and Oscar stayed outside.
Giovanni approached Oscar and said, "Mr. Brown, you don't need to guard Ms. Mitchell so closely. Eldoria is very safe; we won't let anyone harm her."
The Eldorians would ensure Pearl's safety, but Oscar felt he had to stay and guard her. It was both a necessity and an instinct.
The main thing was that if Pearl needed anything, he could be there immediately.
"You go take care of business."
As soon as Oscar finished speaking, Pearl's voice came from the bathroom. "Oscar, are you still out there? Come in and help me."
Pearl's hoarse voice carried a hint of embarrassment.
"I'm here," Oscar replied and walked towards the bathroom.
He knocked on the door, and when Pearl knew it was him, she opened the door to let him in.
Pearl had already taken off her clothes. He saw several red marks and even some abrasions on her fair back. He couldn't imagine that Pearl had fought the tiger while injured, yet she hadn't said a word about her pain. She had endured so much over the past five years and had grown much stronger.
"Wait here; I'll go get some medicine from Jeffery."
Oscar's eyes were full of pain. At that moment, he hated himself for not having superpowers. If he did, he could appear by her side immediately whenever she was in danger.
They wouldn't have missed so much time together or be apart for such a long time.
When he found Jeffery and asked for medicine, Jeffery realized that Pearl was injured. But with Oscar there, he couldn't even show his concern.
He could only instruct Oscar, "This is for external use, and this is for internal use. This way, the wounds will heal faster. The medicine won't leave scars, but after applying it, avoid getting the wounds wet to prevent infections."
"I understand," Oscar nodded and left.
Watching Oscar's departing figure, Jeffery had a momentary illusion that he was Oscar, standing in front of Pearl.
