Chapter 846 Benjamin Is Missing

Saskia was a bundle of nerves.

But she couldn't deny it anymore. Compared to her initial outright denial, she was now wavering.

Just like Nathaniel had said.

Even if she didn't consider herself, what about Benjamin? Was she going to let Benjamin grow up without a legitimate father? And her own feelings for Nathaniel...

"I need to ask Benjamin first," Saskia said, looking Nathaniel in the eyes.

Finally, she wasn't running away anymore.

"After all, this isn't just about us. It concerns him too. He still doesn't know about you. I need to tell him first."

Nathaniel's grip on her shoulder loosened. It wasn't the best outcome he had hoped for, but it was still pretty good.

At least Saskia had clearly softened her stance.

Nathaniel's gaze softened. "Alright, I'll give you time to talk to him."

Seeing that he wasn't pressuring her to make a decision right away, Saskia felt a wave of relief.

Nathaniel immediately instructed his assistant to prepare a wedding dress.

The one Saskia had tried on before, he decided to buy it first, and there were other preparations to be made as well.

The assistant, suddenly swamped with tasks, was silent for a long time.

Nathaniel was getting married? Who was capable enough to quietly win over this man?

At that moment, he felt a deep respect for Nathaniel's unknown bride.

Saskia had no idea what the assistant thought of her, nor did she know about Nathaniel's actions.

If she did, she might regret what she had said.

Nathaniel knew Saskia was unsettled.

So he deliberately gave her some time alone to calm down.

Saskia spent the entire day lying on her big bed at home, not thinking about anything.

Until she suddenly realized she needed to pick up Benjamin from school.

"Oh no, I'm late. I need to get there now." Saskia hurriedly grabbed her car keys.

But she got stuck in traffic.

The car barely moved, and she was helplessly anxious. She had no choice but to call Nora and explain the situation.

Fortunately, Nora was very understanding. "No problem, don't worry. I'll keep an eye on Benjamin."

Saskia felt relieved. "Thank you, Ms. Everly."

At the kindergarten.

Nora, having hung up the phone, hurried to find Benjamin.

It was almost time for school to end, and Benjamin always left early to wait for Saskia.

She needed to tell Benjamin in advance that Saskia would be late today, so he wouldn't wander off.

"Have you seen Benjamin?" Nora asked a little boy.

The boy pointed with his chubby hand. "He was over there, but he's not there now."

Just then, the school bell rang, and Nora's heart leapt as she rushed to the school gate.

At that moment, Benjamin had already sneaked to the gate.

As soon as school ended, the area outside would be crowded with parents picking up their kids, especially since it was a kindergarten.

Including Benjamin.

So he always waited at the gate early, just to see Saskia sooner.

Usually, Benjamin only had to wait a little while before seeing her, but today he had been waiting for a long time.

All the other kids had been happily picked up by their parents.

Only Benjamin was still standing there.

A friend waved goodbye to him. "Benjamin, I'm leaving now. See you tomorrow."

Benjamin looked up and saw his best friend in class. He waved back gloomily.

Why hadn't Saskia come yet?

Just then, a woman in a black dress with long hair approached.

She crouched down and asked gently, "Are you Benjamin?"

Benjamin looked at the strange woman for a long time, then suddenly widened his eyes.

She looked a lot like his aunt!

But Benjamin wasn't sure. He could only say, "Miss, you look familiar."

Azalea looked at the little boy who barely reached her waist, knowing he was Saskia's child. A complex emotion flashed in her eyes. "I know your mom well. We're friends."

"Do you know why my mom hasn't come?"

"She might be delayed on the way. Come with me, I'll take you to play nearby while we wait for her."

Benjamin hesitated.

Saskia had taught him not to go with strangers, but this wasn't a stranger.

He thought for a moment, then looked at Azalea and, after a long pause, nodded reluctantly. "Okay, but you have to promise that I'll leave as soon as my mom comes."

Azalea smiled at his cleverness. "Don't worry."

Azalea didn't take him far.

They went to a nearby coffee shop and sat down.

Benjamin was curious about coffee.

But Azalea refused his curiosity. "No, kids can't drink coffee. It can mess up your brain. You can only have dessert."

Benjamin, though curious, was scared by the thought of it messing up his brain.

He lost interest in coffee immediately.

He was still young and didn't want to become a fool.

Azalea ordered a latte for herself, while Benjamin had hot milk and a slice of tiramisu.

Benjamin ate happily.

Azalea gazed out the window, a hint of melancholy in her eyes.

She hadn't planned to come, but on a whim, she wanted to see her so-called nephew.

"Miss."

"Yes?"

Feeling a tug on her sleeve, Azalea looked down into Benjamin's round eyes.

She had to admit, Benjamin looked a lot like Nathaniel.

Especially those eyes.

Seeing them made Azalea lose herself, momentarily thinking she was seeing George again.

"Nothing, it's just that you keep staring outside. Why do you keep looking out there?" Benjamin tilted his head.

Azalea was taken aback, then smiled faintly. "It's nothing, just thinking about some things. Is it good?"

Benjamin nodded. "It's good, but why did you bring me here?"

Children couldn't hide their thoughts, their eyes full of pure curiosity.

It was this pure curiosity that struck Azalea. She almost couldn't bear to look into those eyes.

Seeing Azalea not answering, Benjamin shook his head but didn't press her.

Benjamin was enjoying his treat.

Meanwhile, Saskia, who had just received a call from Ms. Everly, was nearly frantic.

Saskia clutched her phone, her hand trembling. "Benjamin is missing? How is that possible?"

She couldn't help but panic.

It felt like everything was being taken from her. Things were happening too fast, and she had no time to react, standing there in a daze.

But Saskia quickly calmed down.

"Ms. Everly is also looking. I can't just give up. The priority is to get there quickly." Saskia gritted her teeth, steeled herself, and ran out of the car.

On the way, she called Nathaniel, asking him to send someone to take over the car stuck in traffic.

Saskia herself ran through the traffic jam, then hailed a cab on a clear road, heading straight to the kindergarten.
