Chapter 839 It's Okay, I'll Teach You

Nathaniel just wouldn't wake up.

Saskia wanted to nudge him awake, but seeing the slight furrow in his brow, her heart softened, and she couldn't bring herself to do it.

She adjusted her position and gave up on waking Nathaniel.

Saskia didn't notice the faint smile on Nathaniel's lips.

By the time the plane landed, it was already evening. It was too late to meet anyone, so they went straight to the hotel they had booked.

Saskia's room was right next to Nathaniel's.

The assistant's room was farther away.

While taking a shower that night, Saskia was lost in thought, surrounded by steam in the bathroom.

Suddenly, the showerhead stopped working.

Saskia tapped it a few times, but it wasn't broken; it seemed the water had really been cut off. She found it absurd.

"A high-end hotel, and they have water outages," Saskia muttered, drying herself off and heading out to change.

But she couldn't find her suitcase.

After circling the room twice, she slapped her forehead, remembering that the assistant was in charge of the luggage. Nathaniel had his, but she had forgotten to get hers.

Saskia was in a bit of a bind.

In her current state, she couldn't ask the assistant for her suitcase, and she remembered hearing him complain about his phone being dead when they got off the plane, so calling him was out of the question.

Who else could she ask?

Saskia thought of Nathaniel, hesitated for a moment, and called him, "Hey Nathaniel, you got a minute? I left my suitcase with the assistant..."

Before Saskia could finish, Nathaniel interrupted, "I brought it over for you. Open the door; you can get it now."

Saskia was surprised and went to open the door, wrapped in a towel, her hair still dripping wet.

She reached out a hand, "Hand it over."

Nathaniel saw Saskia trying to hide herself behind the door, even her hand, and chuckled, "Why are you hiding so much? I'm not gonna bite. Besides, you can't take it like that."

Saskia's hand was lightly slapped, and she retorted, "You expect me to go out like this?"

"I can come in."

"No way, you can't come in."

Saskia guarded the door, ready to shut it if Nathaniel tried to enter.

Nathaniel raised an eyebrow and moved forward. She immediately tried to close the door, but Nathaniel just stuck his leg in the doorway, and she didn't dare move.

He glanced at her, his expression meaningful, "If only you were as cold-hearted as you say."

Saskia rolled her eyes at him but eventually let go of the door, "Fine, come in."

Nathaniel took the opportunity.

Saskia felt a bit awkward but reminded herself there was no need to be shy; it wasn't like he hadn't seen her before.

She took the suitcase from Nathaniel, her hand trembling at his warm touch, "I got my luggage. You can leave now."

Nathaniel raised an eyebrow, "You're quick to dismiss me after getting what you want."

Saskia was momentarily speechless.

It wasn't very polite.

But Nathaniel staying here, looking like he wanted to watch her change, wasn't polite either.

Nathaniel, oblivious to any wrongdoing, didn't see his behavior as problematic. To him, he was just delivering something.

And as Saskia reminded herself, it wasn't like he hadn't seen her before.

"What will it take for you to leave?" Saskia held back her frustration.

Nathaniel's gaze fell to the floor, and after a long pause, he said softly, "I should be asking you that, Saskia. What will it take for you to accept me?"

Nathaniel's voice was light, like a breeze that could disappear in an instant.

Saskia froze.

She didn't meet his eyes, but she could feel Nathaniel's emotions.

She almost softened, but the thorn in her heart kept her silent until Nathaniel left.

After that, the atmosphere between them became strange.

The assistant couldn't pinpoint what was off.

"Ms. Fuller, what's going on between you and Mr. Egan? You both seem odd," the assistant hesitantly asked.

Saskia glanced at Nathaniel, who was quickly reviewing documents, and then looked away, "Nothing, we're just focused on work."

The assistant didn't believe her, thinking Saskia was lying.

But without evidence, he had to let it go and put their odd behavior out of his mind.

"Do you play golf?" Nathaniel asked suddenly.

Saskia thought for a moment and answered honestly, "A little, but I often miss the ball."

Nathaniel's mouth twitched, barely holding back a laugh.

Missing the ball often meant she didn't really know how to play.

Nathaniel quickly regained his composure, "No problem, we'll spend tomorrow at the golf course, and I'll teach you."

Saskia started looking forward to the next day, without even realizing it.

At the golf course.

Saskia had tried several times, but the results were disappointing.

Nathaniel watched with a frown, not intervening, but as her shots became more erratic, he couldn't help himself.

Nathaniel lightly tapped her knee, "Your grip is wrong, and you need to use your lower body for power, or your shots will keep going off course."

Saskia had a moment of realization.

Nathaniel then demonstrated, guiding her hands, and she made several successful shots.

"Consider this a gift."

"Nathaniel?"

Saskia looked at Nathaniel, who was holding a pair of black lace gloves, "As a reward for your shots and for you to wear tomorrow night. There's a banquet here."

Saskia snapped out of her daze, taking the gloves, feeling a mix of emotions.

She thought it was something more personal, but it was just for the banquet.

"Well, that's fine too," Saskia comforted herself. It was a business trip, after all; she was overthinking.

With that thought, she felt better.

Back at the hotel, a dress was delivered.

A black strapless gown with a matching necklace.

Seeing the black dress, Saskia thought of Azalea, who had been missing for a while. She remembered seeing her in a black dress, thinking it was a hallucination after her funeral.

It turned out not to be.

But since Azalea's last warning, there had been no news, and Saskia was worried.

She clutched her chest, feeling uneasy, and didn't bother trying on the dress.

Nathaniel knew her size; the dress would fit.

Soon, it was evening.

Saskia and Nathaniel attended the banquet together, giving the host a great honor.

"Thank you, Mr. Egan, for coming. I thought this would be a casual event, but I'm glad you made it."
