Chapter 372 Raising Children
Penelope shook her head. "No way, dating's too much hassle."
She'd never dated before; it just seemed like too much trouble.
Having gone to an all-girls school, she barely interacted with guys and didn't really care to.
Honestly, she kind of disliked men.
"This little pacifier is adorable," Pearl said, holding the gift. "Thanks, you guys really went all out for the baby."
"What's the hassle? We want to be the baby's godmothers!"
Pearl laughed. "My kid's lucky, having a star, a director, and an artist as godmothers. He won't need to try hard at all."
"Still, wouldn't an amazing dad be better?" Janetta joked.
Pearl thought for a second and disagreed. "We can't spoil him. What if he picks up bad habits? I wouldn't rest easy even after I'm gone!"
Everyone stared at Pearl, shocked.
They didn't expect her to say something so grim.
Pearl quickly backtracked as she realized she'd slipped up. "Just kidding, don't take it seriously. Of course, I'll raise him well!"
"You scared me!" Penelope said, patting her chest. "The kid's got an amazing dad and mom. You're pretty famous now. Oh, and good news—we've been nominated for the Golden Award!"
Pearl's eyes lit up. "Really?"
"Yep!" Penelope grabbed her hands excitedly. "Eileen might even win Best Actress. I'm so pumped!"
"That's awesome!" Pearl was genuinely happy for them.
Penelope added, "You have to come. You're the director and investor, the backbone of our team!"
"When is it?"
"Next month. We finally made it!" Penelope hugged Pearl and kissed her cheek, full of excitement.
Janetta was thrilled too. "Our hard work paid off," she said, looking at Pearl. "Congrats, you're going to be a famous director."
"Not really, I just got lucky. It's all thanks to Penelope." Pearl felt she still had a lot to learn in the film industry, but she always took new challenges seriously.
As they chatted, there was a noise at the door.
Oscar walked in.
Seeing Pearl's smile, his expression softened. "What's got you so happy?"
Their voices quieted down when they saw Oscar.
They had a certain respect and unfamiliarity towards him.
Pearl, however, was eager to share. "Perfect timing! Check it out, they bought all these for the baby. Aren't they cute?"
Oscar walked closer, and they stepped aside. He picked up the baby clothes and said softly, "So tiny, they are cute."
"Right! I can't wait for him to arrive. Watching him grow will be so fulfilling. When we're old, looking back will be incredible." Pearl leaned on him, her heart full of love for him and their child.
Talking about growing old together, Oscar's expression turned serious. He put his arm around Pearl's shoulder, imagining their future. "If it's a boy, we need to be strict. Teach him respect and responsibility. If it's a girl, we can be a bit more indulgent, giving her plenty of love so she won't be easily swayed by other boys."
