Chapter 532 Since When Do Women Spend Money on Men
Pearl had already laid it out, so RavenWing had no choice but to let her go.
RavenWing still laid down the law, "You gotta spend the cash I gave you. Don’t be shy about it. Besides that, I got nothing else for you."
Even if Pearl accepted him, there’d still be a wall between them.
So, he figured he might as well give her the money, let her buy whatever she wanted.
"I know. I never blamed you. I’ll swing by when I can, and you can come to Willow Creek too." Pearl shot RavenWing a smile.
All that stuff was in the past.
A flicker of hope lit up in RavenWing’s eyes. "For real?"
He just wanted to get along with Pearl.
If Pearl was cool with him coming to Willow Creek, that’d be perfect.
He could stick around Pearl and help out with Christopher.
Maybe even patch things up with Pearl.
"For real. If you got time, of course, you can come to Willow Creek. You’re my dad, and you’re also Christopher’s grandpa." Pearl’s face softened with tenderness.
She’d noticed the changes in RavenWing.
"Alright, I’ll head over as soon as I wrap things up here. I’ll call you before I hop on the plane."
"Okay."
RavenWing pulled Pearl into a hug.
Later, he watched Pearl, Oscar, and Christopher take off.
Without her special meds, Jimena was sick of being stuck in bed.
The second she tried to get up, Louis was in her way. "Jimena, are you nuts?"
Her wounds weren’t even healed, and she had the nerve to get out of bed.
"No. I’m just bored out of my mind lying here. I wanna get up and move around. Don’t worry, I know my limits."
With such a golden opportunity, and Louis caring so much, how could she just give up?
"If you wanna get out of bed, I’ll help you. Don’t go messing around on your own unless you got a death wish. Don’t forget about your injuries!" Louis barked.
But even with the scolding, he quickly fetched a wheelchair for Jimena.
He helped her into it and said, "Just tell me where you wanna go, don’t be reckless. At least for this month, I’ll take good care of you."
Looked like Louis had accepted the role of her boyfriend for the month.
Jimena took a deep breath, trying to keep her excitement in check. "I wanna go out for a walk and grab some good food, can I? And I wanna go to Pearl’s place."
She wanted to head to Willow Creek, and she didn’t believe that over time, Louis wouldn’t catch feelings for her.
But before she could finish, Louis cut her off angrily, "You’re really pushing it. In your condition, you think I’m gonna let you get on a plane?"
Jimena was still banged up and couldn't handle long trips.
Even though Louis was ticked off, Jimena felt a warm fuzzy feeling inside. He was only being tough 'cause he cared.
He was all about her health now, so she figured, in time, he'd make room for her in his heart.
"It was just a thought. If you don't want me to go, then I won't. I'll stick around with you." Jimena looked down, but there was a sly smile on her lips.
Louis pursed his lips, about to say something, but Jimena looked up at him with hopeful eyes. "Can I at least go out and buy something? Like a pair of rings. Don’t worry, I won’t put it on your tab."
As long as Louis was cool with it, she was ready to drop some cash.
Louis stayed quiet, staring at Jimena in surprise. "Does a woman need to spend money on a man?"
"As long as you're down, it doesn’t matter who pays. It’s just a keepsake for me."
Jimena saw it clearly. She knew Louis wouldn’t shell out for her, so she took the lead.
"Don’t worry about that stuff now. I can take you out for a walk," Louis said in a low voice.
"Okay."
Then Louis wheeled Jimena out, catching a lot of eyes.
There were hardly any women around Louis, and everyone knew about Jimena’s thing for him.
Some folks were envious, others were straight-up jealous.
The envious ones admired that Jimena finally snagged Louis, making her long-time dream come true.
The jealous ones couldn’t wrap their heads around why Jimena got to be with Louis.
Some even started spreading rumors.
"How did someone like Jimena win Mr. Mitchell’s favor? He never had any women around him before."
"Jimena’s probably just a front for Mr. Mitchell to dodge other women."
"Yeah, right. Otherwise, why’d it take them so long to get together? I don’t buy it!"
"Well, as long as they’re happy, we can’t say much."
These words wouldn’t reach Louis’s ears, but Jimena couldn’t avoid hearing them.
Some folks said even nastier stuff, and it really got to Jimena. She wanted to be with Louis no matter what, and she accepted him, flaws and all.
She immediately stood up and snapped at those people.
"Who are you to judge? You only dare to say this crap in front of me. If you’ve got the guts, go say it to Louis!"
"Are you jealous 'cause Louis picked me and not you?"
Jimena hated that she was stuck in a wheelchair and couldn’t do anything.
Otherwise, she’d slap these gossiping fools silly!
But she didn’t know that Louis was already clued in on all this.
