Chapter 965 They Are All Very Happy

The whole process of trying on wedding dresses made Lyra want to find a hole to crawl into.

Jeffery's gaze was just too intense and obvious.

She noticed a few of the bridal shop assistants glancing over at them frequently, their eyes filled with envy and curiosity.

This made Lyra, already a bit shy, feel even more embarrassed.

When she went to change into a new dress, one of the assistants helped her with the straps and said enviously, "You two have such a great relationship."

Lyra was taken aback, unsure how to respond.

The assistant continued, "I've worked here for years, and it's the first time I've seen someone look at their fiancée like your fiancé does."

"His eyes say that you're the only person in the world for him."

Lyra tried to keep her composure, but she couldn't help the sweet smile that spread across her face.

"Really? Is that so?"

Realizing it was a sign of their strong relationship, she no longer felt embarrassed or tried to avoid Jeffery's gaze. Instead, she felt a sweet sense of pride.

Deciding on which dresses to get was a bit of a headache for Lyra.

Jeffery waved it off, saying it wasn't a problem at all. "We'll just get them all."

Lyra rolled her eyes at him, "People are coming to the wedding, not to watch me change outfits. We don't have that much time."

Before she could finish, Jeffery pulled her close and whispered in her ear, "Then we'll buy them all, and you can wear them just for me."

Lyra's face turned red. She quickly realized that Jeffery's previous comment was just a setup for this one.

She whispered back, "Who buys that many wedding dresses?"

Seeing her refusal, Jeffery didn't push it. He just smiled and said, "My wife is beautiful. The prettier clothes I buy, the more I get to enjoy looking at her."

Knowing she couldn't win this argument, Lyra turned her head away, ignoring him.

Jeffery found her blushing face adorable and gently caressed her cheek. After an afternoon of picking and choosing, they finally bought the dresses.

Most of the other details were also settled, and next up was sending out the invitations.

Finding time to do all this while working was quite exhausting.

Now and then, Lyra noticed her colleagues whispering among themselves.

When she approached to ask, they would immediately change the subject, pretending nothing was going on.

Not knowing what they were up to, Lyra tried to get some information but couldn't.

She even asked Mia privately.

Mia patted her chest and assured her, "We're all colleagues, united and friendly. We're all happy for you getting married. What bad intentions could we have?"

Lyra squinted at Mia, scrutinizing her, "It's because you say that, it makes it even more suspicious."

Sensing something was off but unable to figure it out, Lyra mentioned it to Jeffery. He just laughed and said, "Let them be. It's all in good fun."

On the wedding day, Mia was Lyra's bridesmaid.

The atmosphere between Lyra and Jeffery was different.

Even though they had seen each other recently, the setting made it feel new.

Jeffery, dressed to the nines and holding flowers, was surrounded by people as he approached her step by step.

Lyra's heart raced, feeling the same excitement as when they first fell in love.

Mia stepped in front of Jeffery, blocking his way.

"Think you can marry our Lyra that easily? No way."

She snapped her fingers, and the bridesmaids asked in unison, "Who will handle the money after marriage?"

Jeffery glanced at Lyra, "My wife will!"

The bridesmaids continued, "Who will make the decisions at home?"

"All decisions will be made by my wife!"

Everyone laughed and continued with more questions.

"Who will do the housework?"

"I will."

"What if your wife gets mad?"

"I'll comfort her!"

"And if that doesn't work?"

"I'll keep comforting her!"

...

After a dozen questions, the bridesmaids finally stopped.

Mia smiled, "Congratulations, you've passed the first test."

She stepped back, allowing Jeffery to take a step forward.

Then she blocked him again, winking, "Words are just words. What if you don't keep your promises? You need to sign for proof."

Mia clapped her hands, and the bridesmaids brought out a long table with a stack of papers.

Each paper was filled with promises, with space at the bottom for Jeffery's signature.

The bridesmaids grabbed Jeffery's hand, signing one paper after another so quickly he couldn't read them.

He only managed to glance at them briefly.

When he got to the last one, Jeffery sensed something was off.

"Hmm? What's this?"

The bridesmaids didn't answer, just tightened their grip on his hand.

Jeffery clenched his fist, avoiding their hold, and looked at Mia, "Is this your idea?"

Mia smiled and said, "A promise for double the year-end bonus. Should Mr. Gary sign it?"

With that, even Jeffery's groomsmen turned against him, joining the bridesmaids in forcing his hand to sign.

On the green lawn, surrounded by flowers and friends, Jeffery suddenly noticed a familiar figure approaching with a male companion.

When Sophia and Oscar reached him, Jeffery saw that Sophia was holding a beautifully wrapped gift box.

"Congratulations! Happy wedding!" She handed the box to Jeffery, her face full of genuine happiness.

Jeffery took it and thanked her, "Thank you."

"The scenery here is lovely. I'll take a look around and not disturb you and the bride." Sophia waved.

Jeffery exchanged a few polite words and returned to Lyra's side.

Now, they were both happy, having found their own paths.

He overheard Lyra teasing Mia, "I'm married now, and you still don't have a boyfriend. Shouldn't you try harder?"

Mia replied confidently, "It's a two-person thing. If he doesn't show up, what good is my effort?"
