Chapter 173 A Slap and a Candy?

These words affected both Pearl and Haley.

Pearl had been by Oscar's side for seven years and knew his character well. Since she was right there and working as Oscar's secretary, it was clear that Oscar would have her help Haley up. But Oscar didn't. It was obvious that Oscar was siding with Haley.

However, Pearl remained calm. From beginning to end, she held her phone and didn't intervene. An innocent person didn't need to clarify her innocence; it will naturally be proven. If they watch the surveillance footage, it would be clear that Haley was falsely accusing Pearl.

For Haley, Oscar's cold words showed his disdain for her. It was evident that Oscar no longer trusted her. Haley was also taking a gamble.

About two minutes later, the security guard retrieved the surveillance footage. The footage showed that as Haley passed by Pearl, she blocked the camera, and in an instant, Haley fell backward. It looked like she had been pushed.

Oscar's eyes coldly swept towards Pearl. "Apologize." It was a command. Although there is surveillance in the mansion, but not every corner could be monitored, as it was a residential area prioritizing privacy. Thus, this particular spot was obscured.

Oscar only believed what he saw with his own eyes., especially since Haley was the person he cared about the most.

"What if I don't apologize?" Pearl met Oscar's shadowed eyes.

Pearl was his wife. But Haley was a mistress. Oscar allowed Haley into his home and even permitted Pearl to teach Haley how to cook. Now, after watching the footage, he directly ordered Pearl to apologize to Haley.

"Oscar, I know why Pearl did this. It's my fault; I got too close to you," Haley said hoarsely, trying to provoke Oscar.

Oscar's eyes grew even sharper.

Pearl sneered. "Haley, this is your fault." She was a mistress trying to destroy someone else's marriage.

Oscar stepped forward, grabbed Pearl's wrist, and pulled her towards Haley. "Adults should take responsibility for their mistakes. If you don't apologize, then you should repay her for what you did to her."

Pearl felt deeply hurt. It was bad enough that Oscar was so rough with her, but now he was even allowing Haley to retaliate against her. Pearl felt pained but also relieved.

Haley pretended to say, "Oscar, don't do this. I have things to do, so I'll leave now. I hope you and your wife can work things out."

As long as Oscar believed what she said, Haley achieved her goal, no one cared whether Haley left or not. Pearl didn't look at Oscar, but Oscar's gaze remained on Pearl.

Oscar was disappointed in Pearl. Her obedience had disappeared, replaced by jealousy and irrationality, refusing to admit her mistakes.

"Pearl, why have you become like this?"

"Oscar, if you don't believe me, then there's nothing more I can say. Why did she give you clothes? Why did she ask to stay for dinner? And why did she want me to teach her how to cook?" Pearl retorted, her eyes filled with stubbornness.

"You saw in the footage that I was holding my phone. Why did she fall when she passed by me? I was holding my phone with both hands. Oscar, how can I push her?"

Oscar sided with Haley after watching the surveillance footage, and Haley felt triumphant.

Haley noticed this but didn't mention it. She assumed Oscar was going to give Pearl a hard time, so she left smugly.

"Then why didn't you mention it earlier?" Oscar frowned.

Pearl's words made Oscar realize the issue.

Pearl mocked. "Would you change your mind because of my explanation once you've made up your mind?"

With that, Pearl shook off Oscar and walked away.

Oscar didn't chase after her or call her back, but his eyes remained fixed on her retreating figure.

Oscar had just lit a cigarette when Haley called. He put the call on speaker.

Haley's hoarse voice came through the phone. "Oscar, don't make things difficult for Pearl. I know it's my fault. I'll visit you less in the future."

"It better be that way," Oscar said. Haley was stunned upon hearing this.

Didn't Oscar believe that Pearl had pushed her?

The surveillance didn't capture it. Just moments ago, Oscar had even forced Pearl to apologize to Haley. How could his attitude change in just a few minutes?

Haley took a deep breath, about to say something, when Oscar's cold voice interrupted. "Haley , don't test my limits."

With that, Oscar hung up the phone.

Listening to the busy tone, Haley was left in a daze.

But!

For Pearl, this was just the beginning. To stay by Oscar's side, Haley would definitely try to eliminate Pearl!

Meanwhile, Oscar, after smoking, called Scarlett. "Go make some stomach-friendly food for Pearl."

Since Haley arrived, Pearl hadn't eaten much. He remembered that Pearl had an intestinal disorder.

"I'll get right on it," Scarlett said, immediately following Oscar's instructions.

Since it was just for Pearl, Scarlett prepared the food quickly. As she was about to take it upstairs, Oscar stopped her. "Wait a moment."

When Scarlett paused, Oscar took the food from her and personally carried it upstairs.

Pearl was in her room, playing on her phone and reading the news. She was interested in the news. However, since she was now pregnant and would inevitably have to stay out of the public eye after leaving Oscar, she was contemplating her next steps when she heard a noise.

The bedroom door was pushed open by Oscar from the outside. He walked in, carrying the food.

Pearl couldn't understand him. "Mr. Brown, what is this? Is that a sorry?"

"When I saw the surveillance footage, I didn't realize it, but I did warn her," Oscar said in a low, hoarse voice.

Pearl's lips curled into a cold smile. "Really? Mr. Brown, should I thank you for speaking up for me today?"

Pearl had feelings and emotions. Being wrongfully accused of something she didn't do, of course, she would be upset.

Oscar pressed his lips together and said hoarsely, "You haven't eaten much. Eat something first."

"If you have the time, why don't you go find Haley Garcia? Haven't you already gotten everything you wanted?" Pearl couldn't understand why Oscar was doing this, still caring about her feelings.

Clearly, she had no more value to him. Oscar should go and comfort his Haley.

Oscar ignored Pearl and sat down next to her.
