Chapter 619 So You Also Care About Your Reputation
Late at night, Savannah was frantically calling around, trying to find Damian, when she got a text. The sender asked for her email, saying they had some explosive news.
Savannah, still fuming, sent back an eye-roll emoji.
A moment later, the sender sent a photo of Damian making out with some woman in a car.
Without thinking twice, Savannah gave them her email.
A few minutes later, she got a video of Damian and Janetta kissing, filmed from a professional angle that clearly showed their faces.
Savannah, enraged, grabbed a vase and smashed it on the ground. Still not satisfied, she started breaking anything she could get her hands on, leaving the room in shambles.
Even after venting her anger, she wasn't content. Suddenly, an idea hit her.
She dialed a number and asked, "Henry and Janetta's wedding is tomorrow, right? Where's it at? Okay, come pick me up tomorrow."
After hanging up, a cold smile spread across her face.
Janetta was woken up by her phone ringing. Rubbing her head, she answered, "Hello, I'm at home."
Pearl glanced at the time and scolded her, "You're still at home? Didn't we agree you'd come to my place at dawn? Did you oversleep?"
Janetta suddenly remembered her arrangement with Pearl. To make it easier for Pearl, she had arranged for the makeup artist to come to Pearl's house to do her makeup, and then they'd head to the wedding venue together.
But she had been too happy last night and had a few too many drinks.
Cursing herself for being unreliable, Janetta panicked when she saw the time and quickly hung up to get out of bed.
Time was tight. With less than an hour until the wedding, there was no way she could make it to Pearl's house and then to the venue, especially since she still needed to get her makeup done.
Luckily, Pearl had arranged everything. All Janetta needed to do was get her makeup done, and the convoy would get them there as quickly as possible.
When Pearl saw Janetta, she couldn't help but complain, "How much did you drink last night? You reek of alcohol. If I had known, I wouldn't have let you go out drinking."
Janetta didn't think it was a big deal and smiled to reassure her. "It's fine. I'll just spray some perfume to cover it up."
Pearl rolled her eyes. "You need to be more mindful. The Doe Family isn't just any family. You should at least pretend to be on your best behavior in front of the elders."
At the mention of this, Janetta's expression darkened.
She had been to the Doe Mansion before, but every visit made her uncomfortable. Henry's parents always seemed to look at her with disapproval.
"Alright, I heard that Henry decided to move out after the wedding. It seems you'll be living in the villa he bought for you. This way, you won't have to face his parents often, which is good." Pearl, being observant, noticed her concern and immediately tried to comfort her.
"However, the Doe Family is one of the top families in Willow Creek. You should distance yourself from Damian. If he keeps bothering you, you need to handle it properly. Don't let yourself get caught up in any scandals," she added.
Thinking of Damian and the recent events, Pearl felt a lingering fear.
Janetta didn't respond because she suddenly realized she couldn't remember how she got home last night. She only remembered seeing Damian's car after leaving the bar, and then nothing.
Pearl noticed Janetta's distraction and gave her a concerned pat. "What's wrong? You feeling okay? If not, I'll tell Henry to delay the wedding and take you to the hospital."
Janetta quickly shook her head. Today was her wedding day. Once it was over, she could fully enjoy Henry's love. She didn't want anything to mess it up.
Their ride arrived, and Oscar came to inform them.
Pearl had the makeup artist do the final touches and then accompanied Janetta downstairs with Christopher.
The wedding venue was buzzing with activity, packed with distinguished guests. Even though the Doe Family wasn't entirely thrilled with Janetta, they still put on a grand show.
Pearl helped her out of the car and whispered, "The Doe Family is treating you well. Remember this kindness. If you ever have conflicts with Henry's parents, think of today's wedding."
Janetta, being mature, understood and immediately promised to get along well with Henry's parents.
"Janetta." When Henry saw her, he was stunned.
Pearl teased, "You better cherish such a beautiful wife, or I'll introduce her to the Eldorians."
Henry repeatedly promised to treat Janetta well.
The officiant began his speech, announcing the start of the wedding.
Henry had Janetta take his arm, and they walked down the aisle together.
Christopher held Janetta's train, his serious expression earning him a round of praise from the guests.
Pearl, hearing the compliments, smiled. "Mr. Brown, you should thank me for giving you such a handsome son."
Oscar nodded and took the opportunity to kiss her. "I'll make sure to reward you properly when I get the chance."
His eyes were full of meaning when he said "reward."
Pearl knew exactly what he meant and rolled her eyes impatiently. "Who wants your reward? I want something tangible."
Oscar chuckled softly, "How is it not tangible? You know I'm all about action. Otherwise, where would our two kids come from, right?"
Knowing she couldn't win the argument, Pearl looked away and ignored him.
As they passed Savannah and Damian, Janetta noticed Savannah's expression, as if she was plotting something.
Janetta suddenly felt a pang of anxiety.
"Ladies and gentlemen, today is Henry and Janetta's wedding. They were brought together through the magic of love and the guidance of fate. Let's rejoice in their love and support them on this beautiful journey ahead." The officiant knew how to work the crowd, and the applause brought the atmosphere to a peak.
"Wait! I want Mr. Doe to see something before the wedding starts," Savannah stood up, interrupting the officiant.
Everyone turned to look at her, and upon recognizing her, began to whisper.
Savannah, representing Janetta's family, disrupting the wedding at this moment was highly inappropriate.
Damian tugged at her, whispering, "Can't you wait until after the wedding? You might not care about your reputation, but I do."
Savannah sneered at him, "Oh? So you care about your reputation? I always thought you didn't."
"What are you talking about? If you want to cause trouble, go home. This is Janetta's wedding, show some respect." Damian was unhappy about Janetta marrying Henry, but it was a done deal. However, that didn't mean he couldn't take out his anger on Savannah.
Savannah laughed coldly and turned to Hunter. "Mr. Doe, you don't mind if I interrupt the wedding, do you? I just have to get this off my chest."
