Chapter 397 Finding Him
Pearl stayed silent.
It felt like she had swallowed a blade, the pain making everything crystal clear.
She had poison ka48 in her, but she survived after giving birth.
Oscar had planned everything, including Haley.
Then there were her hazy memories and the dead child.
Oscar didn't know the child was his. He lost control and lashed out but still wanted to keep the child. His deep feelings for her were clear, even in his departure and silence. She knew why.
He just wanted her safe.
But Pearl wanted Oscar the same way.
"Pearl, take care of yourself. Otherwise, all Mr. Brown's efforts will be wasted," Eileen said.
The poison was gone, but it must've been tough.
Eileen's words were to encourage Pearl to stay strong.
If someone collapsed emotionally, problems could arise. Pearl had helped her, and she saw Pearl as a good friend.
"I know he did a lot for me. I just want him to share his pain with me," Pearl said, gently pushing Eileen away.
A warm hug was nice, but Pearl knew she couldn't retreat or cry at every challenge.
Eileen got it.
Pearl wanted to share both joy and sorrow with Oscar.
Eileen paused, then said, "Pearl, you have to understand, Mr. Brown is a man, who wants to protect you. If he shares everything and cries in front of you, would you still like him?"
Everything has two sides.
People want to gain and discard.
Pearl decided. "I want to go to Eldorians to find him."
'Oscar can't just leave me behind.'
Even if it's dangerous, she wanted to fight alongside Oscar!
"Eldorians is very dangerous," Eileen warned. She knew many foreign tribes there were isolated from the outside world.
Oscar would prepare thoroughly before going.
"I'm not afraid," Pearl said firmly.
She was determined; even if it meant dying, she wanted to die with Oscar!
Eileen couldn't persuade her, so she turned to Emma, Janetta, and Penelope. But Janetta said, "Pearl's made up her mind. Let her go."
Janetta had known Pearl the longest and understood her well.
Once Pearl decided, no one could change her mind.
Besides, the place Pearl wanted to go had the person she loved most and her childhood friend.
Barbara agreed but let Janetta speak first. She stayed by Pearl's side silently.
Not just because of their bond in The Crimson Eclipse Society but also because of Jeffery.
It was a sleepless night. The celebration turned into a farewell party. Everything was fine until Emma started crying.
"Pearl, you have to come back safely." Once she started, everyone else teared up too.
Barbara stood up and patted her chest. "Don't worry. I'll protect her."
It was her duty, a task from Oscar, and Jeffery's wish.
Eileen, Penelope, and Emma got drunk, but Janetta stayed sober.
Pearl couldn't drink, and Barbara needed to stay alert.
"Janetta, take them home later. I need to go home," Pearl said, looking at Janetta.
No words were needed between them.
Janetta understood and put a necklace around Pearl's neck. "Pearl, be safe on your journey."
"Okay."
They parted ways.
But Pearl didn't head to Eldorians immediately. She pulled Barbara aside and asked her to teach her combat skills.
Barbara knew Pearl was preparing for Eldorians.
Considering Pearl's condition, Barbara moved slowly and gently.
Pearl was quick to learn.
After about three days of practice, Pearl managed to throw Barbara onto the mat.
Barbara's skills were top-notch.
Although Barbara was holding back, at least Pearl wouldn't let anyone get close enough to threaten her.
"Pearl, I didn't expect you to be so smart and quick to learn," Barbara said, impressed.
If Pearl hadn't left The Crimson Eclipse Society, she would have become the best assassin.
Fortunately, Pearl had left.
The cruelty of The Crimson Eclipse Society and the hardships of training were memories Barbara never wanted to recall.
Barbara stopped her thoughts.
The next second, Pearl grabbed her hand and said, "Barbara, let's book the earliest flight to Eldorians. You still need to keep teaching me over there."
Eldorians was chaotic, and she needed to stay highly alert.
"There are no direct flights to Eldorians from here. We need to transfer at Port B. Pearl, you've trained all day. Rest first."
Barbara patted Pearl's hand.
She knew Pearl was eager to find Oscar.
And Barbara was just as eager to find Jeffery.
Before Jeffery left, he only sent her a text: [Protect Carol.]
Since that day, she hadn't been able to contact Jeffery or see him.
Oscar's poison hadn't been cured, and she wondered if Jeffery was with Oscar.
Suddenly, Pearl's resolute voice rang out. "If we can't leave today, then we'll leave first thing tomorrow morning."
"Okay."
After Barbara agreed, Pearl started packing.
Pearl checked the weather there; the highest temperature was over 100°F. She needed sunscreen, money, and food.
Most importantly, she needed medicine, as the place was constantly at war.
"Pearl, why don't you wait for news here?" Barbara thought it over and felt it would be safest for Pearl to stay.
Moreover, Pearl's body had just recovered and couldn't handle the harsh conditions there.
"No." Pearl firmly refused. She said each word clearly, "I want to find him."
Even if it meant dying, she wanted to die with him!!
Barbara sighed.
'Why does love have such power, making people disregard life and death? Oscar did, Pearl did, Jeffery did, and so did I.'
