Chapter 198 You Must Be Oscar's Wife

Pearl stared at the mark on the shirt for a long time, emotionless.

She thought it was inevitable for Oscar to encounter many women while socializing, and she could understand that.

However, she had never seen anyone leave a lipstick mark on his shirt.

Pearl's grip on the shirt tightened, causing it to wrinkle in her hands.

When the bathroom door opened, Pearl snapped out of her thoughts.

Oscar emerged and noticed Pearl standing there motionless. He asked, "What are you doing standing there ?"

He didn't notice Pearl's emotions and instead checked the time, adding, "It's late. You usually go to bed by now. Can't sleep tonight?"

Recently, Pearl had not been waiting for him to go to bed.

Previously, she could only sleep peacefully once he returned home. Now, sometimes when he came home late, Pearl was already asleep and no longer waited for him.

Although Pearl could sleep whenever she wanted, and he had no control over that, the change in their routine brought a sense of disparity.

Pearl didn't ask much. His entanglements with other women were none of her business.

These matters should be Haley's concern. Perhaps it was even Haley who left the lipstick mark.

"I'll throw your clothes in the washing machine," Pearl said flatly and walked out.

Oscar watched her walk away, frowning. He could hear the coldness in her voice. He thought, 'Was it so difficult for her to even look at him now?'

Feeling frustrated, Oscar lay down, covering his head with the blanket, and fell asleep on his side.

When Pearl returned, Oscar was facing away from her, tightly wrapped in the blanket, seemingly asleep.

Pearl didn't disturb him and also turned her back to him.

It seemed there was a river between them.

After several minutes, Oscar threw off the blanket, unable to sleep, sweating from the heat.

He turned to see Pearl already asleep.

She no longer cared about his emotions or him.

Oscar's face turned cold, and he lost all desire to sleep. He got up and went to sleep in the study alone.

When Pearl woke up, the bed beside her was cold. It was only seven in the morning. Judging by Oscar's usual waking habits, it was clear he hadn't slept beside her last night.

As usual, she got ready, and went downstairs for breakfast, but Ye Nan Zhou was nowhere to be seen.

He must have gone to the office early.

After breakfast, Pearl also headed to the office.

However, she learned that Oscar wasn't at the office today.

She suddenly remembered Haley mentioning an awards ceremony. He must have gone to the event with Haley.

After all, it was Haley's first time receiving an award, and it was natural for him to be by her side on such an important day.

"Pearl, the Johnson Group is is pressing for the inspection. They need Mr. Ye to oversee it," Lily came over to inform Pearl.

Pearl looked at her and said, "Isn't Mr. Brown not in the office? Let's do the inspection tomorrow."

Lily replied, "The ship has docked, and there's no time to spare. The Johnson Group is pressing us. If we don't do the inspection today, we'll have to pay the penalty."

"Mr. Brown is probably unavailable today," Pearl said, knowing Oscar wouldn't answer his phone, just like last time. "Tell the vice president."

"The vice president isn't here either," Lily said. "It looks like it's up to you, Pearl."

Unfortunately, all the important executives were busy today. Pearl had often stood in for Oscar, but she was always careful about it.

For laborious tasks, she would handle them personally. If it was a matter of authority, she would notify the other executives.

Since no one else was available, only she could go. "Alright, let's go. You come along too."

"Okay," Lily replied.

Pearl took a few people with her.

Lily was new and needed to familiarize herself with the company's operations. Along the way, Pearl kept reminding Lily to be meticulous, ensuring no mistakes were made.

Before long, Pearl arrived at the dock.

The ship had already docked, and she saw people from the Johnson Group unloading cargo.

As soon as Pearl got out of the car, she heard someone say, "Why isn't Mr. Brown here? Instead, it's you, Pearl. Can you represent Mr. Brown now?"

Pearl turned to see Aurora walking towards her with her arms crossed. She smiled and replied, "Mr. Brown is busy today. Besides, it's not the first time I've negotiated with Ms. Johnson on behalf of Mr. Brown. I'm sure Ms. Johnson can understand."

Aurora was increasingly displeased with Pearl. She had always disliked the idea of Oscar having a female secretary.

Why not a male secretary? They could carry heavy things and would be better than someone as delicate as Pearl.

The moment Aurora learned that Pearl might be Oscar's wife, Pearl became her enemy.

"There's nothing to understand. I just think you're overstepping your bounds, Pearl. Do you have that much authority?" Aurora sneered, her eyes filled with hostility.

Pearl replied coolly, "Didn't I already say? Mr. Brown is busy today."

"I think it's more than that," Aurora said sharply, staring at Pearl.

Pearl didn't respond but sensed Aurora's hostile gaze, as if she saw her as an enemy.

Pearl had no personal grudge against Aurora and didn't understand where this animosity came from. She didn't dwell on it and instead led her team to check the cargo.

"Pearl, what is Mr. Brown doing today?" Aurora followed behind Pearl.

Pearl distantly replied, "Mr. Brown's private matters are not for me to discuss."

Aurora said meaningfully, "Is it that you can't say, or are you asserting your dominance?"

Pearl stopped and turned to look at her. "What do you mean by that?"

"I heard Mr. Brown got married," Aurora suddenly brought up this matter, possibly knowing something. Pearl felt concerned and cautiously responded, "I've heard people mention it, but I'm not that curious about Mr. Brown's private life. Ms. Johnson, let's focus on the task at hand..."

"Pearl, can you stop being aloof?" Aurora couldn't hold back any longer. Unlike Pearl, she lacked patience and demanded, "You are Oscar's wife, aren't you?"

Pearl stared at Aurora for a long moment, stunned. How did Aurora know about this? Pearl's face turned cold. "What does that have to do with you, Ms. Johnson?"

"It has everything to do with me!" Aurora said righteously. "You're in my way!"

Pearl frowned.

Aurora continued, "When I came back, I knew Oscar was single. But then he turned into a married man because of you. What did you do to make him forget our agreement and marry you? Did you seduce him while being his secretary?"

If it wasn't for seduction, Pearl couldn't have gone from being a secretary to becoming Oscar's wife. There must have been some scheme involved.

Seeing Aurora's emotional and extreme reaction, Pearl said, "Calm down."

She was puzzled and asked, "What agreement did you have with Oscar?"
