Chapter 307 Buying a Bag

Pearl's face looked a bit grim, but she put the phone away.

She lay on her side, listening to the water running in the bathroom, feeling sad.

'What did he do this afternoon? Did he check out the crime scene or see Haley?'

Pearl felt uneasy, even though she trusted Oscar.

They'd been married for three years, and Oscar had never acted like this before.

She always felt his love and care.

She saw the love in his eyes, which was just for her.

Oscar had promised to love her forever.

And she would always be his wife.

But his strange behavior made her think there were things he wasn't telling her.

Maybe he was hiding something.

Pearl was lost in thought when Oscar finished his bath.

He was drying his hair and glanced at Pearl to see if she was asleep.

Pearl looked up at him.

Oscar walked over slowly. "You're still awake?"

Pearl said, "I'm waiting for you."

Oscar got into bed after drying his hair.

Pearl instinctively hugged his waist, resting her head on him.

Oscar stroked her hair. "What's wrong?"

Pearl didn't ask about Haley.

If he wasn't upset, his call with Haley must've been fine.

But she saw his heavy expression; something was bothering him.

Pearl shook her head. "Nothing, let's sleep."

Oscar lay flat, staring at the ceiling for a long time before saying, "I'll be back late tomorrow, you should rest early."

Pearl had closed her eyes but opened them again. "Okay, I know."

Oscar turned over, hugged her waist, and held her tightly.

Pearl had many questions, but when Oscar held her, her doubts melted away.

They were still husband and wife.

Pearl held his hand and placed it on her belly. "If something's going on, we can face it together."

Feeling her warmth, Oscar's eyes filled with emotion.

Her words made his feelings hard to control, but he had to hold back.

He felt helpless and worried.

He held her tighter, buried his head in her hair, and said softly, "You should sleep."

Pearl smiled.

She was very tired.

She'd been more sleepy lately.

She just wanted to wait for him, forcing herself to stay awake.

She gradually fell asleep, but Oscar couldn't sleep at all.

He stared at Pearl's sleeping face.

The next day, Pearl woke up at noon.

Oscar was already gone.

She stretched and left the bedroom.

Sophia was coming downstairs and called out, "Pearl, you're just waking up? It's already noon. I've been waiting for you all morning."

Sophia had gotten up early.

Yesterday, Pearl had promised they'd go out today.

"Is it already noon?" Pearl was surprised. "I slept over ten hours."

Sophia said, "Why did you sleep so long? Do all pregnant women sleep this much?"

She didn't understand.

Pearl was also a bit doubtful. 'Is it okay for me to sleep this long?'

"And Oscar left early," Sophia muttered. "He didn't even stay with you. Didn't we plan to have a meal together yesterday?"

Pearl said, "He's been busy lately, but we'll talk when he has some free time."

"Never mind," Sophia smiled. "We'll have fun ourselves. Let's hit the mall. Whatever you want, it's on me!"

Pearl, already close with Sophia, didn't hold back. "You're being generous today!"

"Of course! If I'm good to you, Oscar won't be mean to me later!" Sophia didn't like Oscar's cold demeanor.

"I'll change, and then we'll go." Pearl wanted to shop too; her belly was getting bigger, and she needed baby stuff.

They arranged to go out with a driver and bodyguards.

Pearl had taken leave from the TV station.

Even if she wasn't there, if Emma or the station had issues, she'd handle them promptly.

Eileen had been discharged from the hospital.

The lead actress in that drama, Isabella, had been replaced again.

They had planned for Eileen to continue, but she refused.

Now they were looking for a new actress.

Pearl and Sophia arrived at the mall, full of luxury goods.

Luxury stores were always busy, and regular clients often had to wait.

Sophia, a VIP, didn't need to queue and got their items immediately.

Sophia held up a new bag to Pearl. "This suits you, the color complements you, and it's light, perfect for a pregnant woman."

Pearl held it. "Not bad, but I prefer the Aurora Belle over there."

Sophia looked over. "You like Aurora Belle? Why didn't you say so? Let's go."

Pearl joked, "It's pricey here; I'm going to make you spend more."

Sophia was straightforward. "If you like it, I'll buy it. Not just one, I'll get you ten Aurora Belles."

"You're a big spender," Pearl smiled.

Sophia, serious at first, realized Pearl was joking. "You're teasing me!"

Pearl linked arms with her. "Just teasing. You should see if there's anything you like too."

Sophia, easy to appease, hugged her back. "Okay."

They tried on several items, bought a few, and went to another store.

"This one is really pretty!" Suddenly, Haley's voice came.

"Ms. Garcia, you have excellent taste. This is our latest limited edition," the saleslady said. "Only ten in the world."

Pearl looked up and saw Haley inside, holding the bag she had seen in a magazine.

"Do you think this bag suits me?" Haley asked.

"Yes."

Pearl froze, stopping in her tracks.

Haley smiled. "Then I'll buy it."

"Okay." Oscar gradually approached Haley.

"Charge it to my card," he handed a gold card to the saleslady.

"Yes, Mr. Brown."

Pearl looked at Oscar standing next to Haley, astonished, unable to believe her eyes.

‘Am I dreaming?’

She had been having nightmares lately; this must be one of them.

Pearl tried to reassure herself. She needed to trust Oscar. Everything else might not be real, but Oscar's feelings for her were genuine.

"It's Oscar!" Sophia also saw him. "Why is he with Haley, and buying her a bag?"
