Chapter 452 Threat
Pearl frowned, and Oscar didn't look any happier.
Oscar's eyes were full of hostility, glaring at Louis like he wanted to cut him down.
Louis kept smiling. "There's chaos outside, and you two are here making promises? Why not tell me where Jeffery is?"
Mentioning Jeffery wiped the smile off Louis's face.
His expression turned icy, with anger simmering in his eyes.
Louis could be gentle, but he could also be ruthless, like now.
He wanted to find Jeffery and understand why Jeffery gave Pearl that bracelet. He needed the truth.
Louis went from hopeful to disappointed.
Pearl remembered being knocked out by Giovanni. Louis must have done the paternity test by then.
Louis's sudden coldness meant the DNA results were in.
Pearl sighed.
She was confused. If she wasn't Carol, why did Jeffery give her the bracelet and call her Carol?
And those flickering memories puzzled her.
Pearl wondered if the drugs had messed with her memory.
"I don't know where Jeffery is," Pearl said, pressing her lips together. Even if she knew, she wouldn't tell Louis.
Jeffery was her friend and had bled for her because of the poison in her body.
Louis looked at Oscar. His eyes were cold and ruthless.
Oscar mocked, "Do you think I'd compromise with you?"
He pulled out a black handgun, one Louis had Giovanni give Oscar and Pear for self-defense. Now, Oscar was pointing it at Louis.
Louis smiled faintly. "Need I remind you of your situation?"
Even if Oscar held him hostage, he could leave alone, but Pearl was unarmed.
Seeing Oscar stay silent, Louis continued, "Is it too much to ask where Jeffery is?"
He had let Pearl look for Barbara and Adrian and sent Giovanni to protect her.
Without Giovanni, Pearl would have been hurt by Giulia.
Pearl grabbed Oscar's coat. He had a gun, and she didn't want to disturb him.
"Since Jeffery left Willow Creek, no one knows where he is."
Louis sneered. "Really? What about his contact info?"
Jeffery giving her the bracelet meant she was important to him.
Even if she was a pawn, she mattered.
Once he contacted Jeffery and mentioned Pearl, Jeffery would show up.
Pearl said coldly, "Do you think I'd still have his contact info in this situation?"
She had lost her phone when she got here, and Oscar had snuck in without one. Having a phone would be a death wish.
With a gesture from Louis, a bunch of people surrounded Pearl and Oscar.
Louis sighed dramatically. "With Mr. Brown's skills, finding a contact shouldn't be hard, right? You can take Barbara and Adrian and leave, but Pearl stays."
Pearl was crucial; she could influence Oscar and lure out Jeffery.
He didn't want to be Oscar's enemy, but he needed Jeffery.
Keeping Pearl had no downside.
Pearl weighed her options, gripping tighter.
She stayed silent, but it spoke volumes.
"If you want his contact info, I can stay, but they must leave," Oscar said, shielding Pearl.
Louis gave Pearl a look. "Weren't you asking me for antidote earlier? Don't you care about Oscar's health?"
If Pearl stayed, Barbara and Adrian could leave, and Oscar would be safe. Louis could even give Oscar the antidote.
It was a good deal.
"Yes, I'll stay," Pearl agreed before Oscar could speak.
She wanted everyone to be safe.
"No," Oscar said firmly. He couldn't leave Pearl behind, even if it meant his own death.
Louis laughed. "Oscar, you want to stay, but what can you offer me?"
Louis knew Oscar had snuck in to find Pearl and wanted to destroy them.
Given Oscar's status, Tranquiloria wouldn't let him be detained.
"You have two choices. Leave, and I'll send you out now. If not, neither of you will leave," Louis declared coldly.
He hadn't expected Pearl to be brought in by Carol, but now that she was here, he had placed Giovanni by her side to meet her conditions and slowly unravel the mystery. Oscar's intrusion had messed up his plans.
"Oscar, don't hesitate."
Barbara was dragged into this because of Pearl, Adrian was trapped here because of her, and Oscar was poisoned because of her.
If Oscar could leave, his status could bring stability and safety to the people here, preventing war.
"Don't say another word!" Oscar shouted, losing control.
He knew leaving was the best choice, but he couldn't push Pearl away.
"Pearl, I've had many responsibilities. As a soldier, I protect my country. As the CEO of the Brown Group, I uphold the family honor. But I've neglected you. I can't leave you behind. I'll always be with you."
Oscar's eyes were resolute, without hesitation.
Before Pearl could respond, a loud explosion echoed through the room.
Louis gestured, and his men surrounded Oscar. Taking advantage of the moment, he pulled Pearl over.
Pearl pressed the gun to Louis's forehead, threatening in a low voice. "Louis, you've helped us a lot. I don't want to hurt you! Order your men to stand down, now."
