Chapter 191 The Discovery Between Her and Oscar

As Oscar's suspicions grew, Pearl felt increasingly anxious. She instinctively clenched her fists and explained,"My parents always cook for me when I visit because they know I love to eat. Maybe I'm just tired of it today, that's all. Why are you suddenly so concerned about my diet?"

Oscar looked at Pearl and gently stroked her hair. "It's nothing. I just feel like you've changed a lot recently. But, Pearl, don't hide anything from me."

Seeing Oscar's hand reaching out, showing such concern and intimacy while asking suspicious questions, Pearl felt a bit flustered.

Pearl gazed into his deep eyes, as if she already knew the things she was hiding.

No, it couldn't be.

If Oscar knew, he wouldn't be reacting this way.

Oscar usually didn't pay much attention to her.

He might be suspicious in his heart.

Pearl pretended to smile and said, "We are together every day. What could I possibly hide from you?"

"Do you remember that Seraphina?"

Suddenly mentioning Seraphina again made Pearl a bit nervous. "I remember. Isn't she already dead?"

"She wasn't that woman!"

Oscar was certain. Even if Seraphina was dead, he was convinced that woman wasn't Seraphina.

Was he explaining?

Pearl had thought that with Seraphina dead, Oscar wouldn't ask about the woman from that night anymore. After all, he wouldn't suspect her.

They had been married for three years without having sex.

Pearl had always kept her distance from him. He understood that Pearl wouldn't dare to cross the line.

Pearl lowered her head. "Then I don't know."

Pearl's response was indifferent, making his explanation seem unnecessary.

The woman from that night was no longer important.

He didn't want to delve deeper into the matter and cause Pearl more stress.

He looked at Pearl and kissed her forehead. "You must be tired. Go to sleep."

He spoke more to her today than usual, not forcing her or maintaining intimacy deliberately, but simply kissing her forehead.

Pearl hadn't expected him to be so restrained and replied, "Okay."

Pearl lay down quietly on the bed.

Oscar watched her figure, frowning deeply, not lying down with her.

Anyway, to her, whether he lay beside her or not had become unimportant.

After Pearl fell asleep, Oscar walked out, his gaze turning cold. He said in a low voice, "Find out where Pearl has been before, no matter what it takes. I need to know what she's been up to!"

Previously, Pearl had been eager to go to the hospital but stopped when she encountered Oscar.

Although Pearl had explained, he still suspected she was hiding something from him.

Coupled with Pearl's changes in diet and her signs of wanting a divorce, he couldn't help but feel there was something fishy.

Pearl wouldn't say, but Oscar would find a way to uncover the truth.

The next day, Pearl walked out of the house to find a new car parked at the door.

A Mercedes-Benz.

This model was very low-key in appearance but expensive.

It was even more costly than her car that was being repaired.

However, Pearl didn't recall Oscar having such a car, nor would he like this style.

She saw Harold standing there waiting for her and couldn't help but ask, "Did Mr. Brown get a new car?"

Harold replied, "This is for you. Isn't your car being repaired? Mr. Brown got you a new one. From now on, you can drive this to work."

He handed the keys to Pearl.

Pearl looked at the car. "For me? Didn't he say I could just drive a grocery-getter? I don't need such an expensive car."

Pearl handed the keys back. "Tell him it's not necessary."

Harold looked a bit troubled and forcefully pushed the keys back into Pearl's hand. "Just take the car. Mr. Brown has already transferred it to your name. If you don't accept it, I won't be able to explain it to him."

Oscar had told Harold that no matter what, Pearl had to drive this car.

If she refused, Harold would be blamed for not handling things properly.

Pearl pursed her lips, holding the car keys, and looked at the new car with some hesitation.

What did Oscar mean by this?

Driving such a good car to work, did he want others to suspect she had a wealthy benefactor?

Harold saw her hesitating, so he quickly said, "You're going to be late for work. I'll drive and drop you off."

Harold took the car keys, quickly got in, and waited for Pearl.

Pearl couldn't understand why Oscar suddenly bought her such a good car.

She knew Oscar was generous, but he should be careful not to arouse suspicion.

The car would definitely be parked in the exclusive garage, where many people would see it.

Running late, Pearl agreed to Harold's actions to avoid causing any trouble.

After all, she knew how strict Oscar could be.

"Did you hear Ms. Doe call Pearl 'sister-in-law' yesterday?"

Early in the morning, the company was already buzzing with gossip.

"Of course, we all heard it. Ms. Doe calling Pearl 'sister-in-law' makes it seem like they know each other. And Ms. Doe calls Mr. Brown 'brother' Could it be..."

"Are you suggesting there's something between Pearl and Mr. Brown?"

"Not just something. From the way Ms. Doe addressed her so affectionately, I suspect Pearl might be Mr. Brown's mysterious wife."

"Impossible!"

Some didn't believe it.

"Pearl has been by Mr. Brown's side for seven years. If she were his wife, we would have found out by now. Besides, if they were married, why would they hide it?"

A colleague's cough interrupted their conversation.

As they were engrossed in their gossip, Pearl had already arrived behind them.

Upon hearing their speculations, they fell silent upon noticing her.

This office was full of gossip.

In the past, when Pearl and Oscar worked together, traveled, or attended events, there were rumors speculating that they were in a sugar dating relationship. Every action they took could lead to gossip.

Even if Pearl heard it, she didn't explain anything, calmly going to her workstation.

But Queenie was puzzled. She had also heard the gossip.

In the past, Pearl would never have accepted what they said and would have stepped forward to refute it.

This time, Queenie had personally heard Sophia call Pearl 'sister-in-law'.

Queenie's thoughts were in disarray.

"Pearl," Queenie approached, speaking cautiously. "Here are the documents you requested. I've organized them."

"Just leave them over there," Pearl said as she opened her computer.

Queenie stood there without leaving, her eyes scrutinizing Pearl's face.

When Noticed Queenie's concern, Pearl asked, "What's wrong? Are you still worried about yesterday?"

"Pearl, you and Mr. Brown, are you..."

Queenie hesitated, glancing at the car keys on Pearl's desk.

Following her gaze, Pearl put the car keys down and said, "If you have something to say, just say it. No need to hide."

Queenie couldn't contain her thoughts any longer, so she blurted out, "Pearl, maybe you should go to Mr. Brown's office first?"
