Chapter 386 Unexpected Delivery

Pearl's face changed.

She was worried about him, yet he said such irresponsible things.

"Oscar, do you even know what you're saying?"

Oscar laughed. "Is this your first day knowing me? This is who I am. I might even hurt you in the future!"

Seeing his unfamiliar face, she felt all her worry was for nothing.

She shoved him hard, glaring. "I was overthinking. You're beyond saving. Do whatever you want; I won't care anymore. As long as you're happy!"

Oscar took two steps back, head hanging low. Pearl couldn't see his face.

She didn't understand how they got here.

Everything was beyond her expectations, including Oscar's fickleness.

Standing there felt like a joke.

She wanted to leave but remembered why she came. "I came to ask if Haley had anything to do with me being tricked into The Crimson Eclipse Society. You know her best. I lost part of my memory there. I mistook it for you, but I don't understand why. No matter where Haley is, I won't let her go!"

Oscar's eyes trembled slightly, as if realizing something.

Pearl didn't notice. In her anger, she couldn't think of anything else to say.

She left angrily.

Oscar watched her leave, his eyes showing complex emotions, realizing their connection might have started long ago.

Just as Pearl left, his hand instinctively reached out to grab her shadow.

But seeing his hand, Oscar pulled it back, regaining clarity.

Oscar felt time was too short. Happy times with Pearl always seemed to fly by.

Suddenly, he heard a noise.

Oscar's heart tightened. Within seconds, Harold rushed in. "Mr. Brown, something's wrong with Ms. Harris."

Oscar's face changed dramatically, and he quickly ran out.

He went downstairs and saw Pearl lying on the ground, curled up, pale and covered in sweat.

Oscar didn't care about anything else. He immediately squatted down and held Pearl in his arms, touching her face. "What's wrong? Are you having a relapse? I'll find Jeffery."

Pearl grabbed his sleeve, lips trembling in pain. "The baby."

Oscar initially thought her poison had taken effect but soon realized she was going into labor.

Pearl held onto him tightly, not caring about their earlier argument. Thinking only of the baby, she pleaded, "Take me to the hospital!"

Oscar scooped her up, his voice urgent. "Harold, get the car ready!"

The car was already at the door.

Oscar put Pearl inside.

Pearl was still conscious, but her stomach hurt intensely, as if it was being torn open.

She didn't expect her stomach to hurt so much now, so she clutched Oscar tightly to alleviate the pain.

Oscar let her hold him, even though his arm turned red from her grip, he didn't flinch.

In his emotional state, his chest heaved, as if a wild beast were about to burst forth from within him.

His eyes turned fierce, but looking at Pearl, he managed to stay rational. He gripped the front seat backrest tightly to control himself.

"Am I dying? Why does it hurt so much?" Pearl had never felt such pain before.

Oscar, sweating, reassured her, "No, the baby is coming. Hold on a bit longer."

Pearl cried out, looking at him. "Oscar, this is your child. You have to take good care of him, whose life depends on you."

She knew giving birth would exhaust her last reserves of strength. She needed to ensure Oscar would care for their child.

Oscar looked at her without speaking.

He smelled blood in the air, his eyes turning red as he breathed heavily.

Seeing his silence, Pearl continued, "This is your first child, who only has you. Even if you marry someone else, you can't mistreat him."

Tears overflowed from Pearl's eyes.

Oscar's grip on the seat backrest left a tear mark.

He didn't dare look at Pearl or smell the blood, calmly telling her, "You'll be fine, Pearl. Don't say such things."

"At this point, can't you give me a promise?" Pearl wanted a definite answer so she could die in peace.

Oscar swallowed, his breathing becoming more rapid.

"Oscar, answer me!" Pearl cried. "If I'm not here, the child depends on you, who is his father. He's already pitiful enough. Can you treat him well?"

She choked up, unable to bear leaving the child, but she didn't have much time left.

She just hoped Oscar could be a good father.

Otherwise, she wouldn't rest in peace.

"You have to live! I can't promise you because you have to live!"

If he promised, she might lose the will to live.

He could only make Pearl worry, so she would fight to stay alive.

Sure enough, Pearl didn't dare close her eyes, gripping Oscar tightly with anger and reluctance.

Oscar's eyes turned blood-red, almost tearing the seat apart.

The car slowly stopped.

"Mr. Brown, there's a traffic jam ahead. It looks like there's an accident!"

Oscar saw the long line of cars and became anxious.

His irritation and urgency intensified his violence.

Pearl whimpered in pain, the area beneath her already soaked.

Oscar tried to stay composed, but it was too late to get to the hospital. Someone had to help deliver the baby. Hearing Pearl's agonized cries, he couldn't calm himself. Realizing the urgency, he quickly pulled away from Pearl's grasp and got out of the car.

He almost roared, "Quick, find someone who can deliver a baby! Any price, just do it!"

Harold and the bodyguards immediately got out, knocking on car doors and asking if anyone could help with the delivery.

Pearl saw Oscar get out of the car, panicking, thinking he was abandoning her. She reached out, trying to pull him back.

The excruciating pain left her barely conscious.

She was already poisoned, and giving birth would take a severe toll on her.

Oscar couldn't stand the smell of blood. He wanted to stay by Pearl's side but hesitated, fearing he might lose control and harm Pearl and their baby.

He could only stay a bit away from Pearl.

Oscar stepped out of the car and took deep breaths of fresh air.

The scent of blood was much less intense now, and he could feel the wildness within him slowly being suppressed.
