Chapter 430 Have You Seen Enough?

The arrow was stuck in the tree, but Pearl was still freaked out.

She didn't calm down for a while.

Louis frowned, staring into the forest, while Jorge, realizing the plan had failed, started to retreat.

Jorge didn't want Louis to spot him.

"Are you okay?" Louis asked Pearl, ignoring Jorge.

Pearl's eyes widened; the arrow had been aimed at her head, clearly meant to kill.

'With so many people in the village, it should've been safe. Who did I piss off?'

She felt like a target.

"Pearl," Louis called again when she stayed silent.

Pearl snapped out of it and looked towards where the arrow came from. It was pitch black, and she couldn't see anything. Whoever it was had already fled.

"I'm fine," Pearl said.

Louis finally let go of her.

Pearl walked over to the tree and pulled out the arrow. It was just a regular arrow.

She couldn't tell anything from it.

"Did you sense something earlier?" Pearl asked Louis, whose earlier words seemed like a warning.

Louis said, "I felt something was off. Good thing you weren't hurt."

Pearl held the arrow, staring at Louis.

She had a question but wasn't sure if she should ask.

Louis noticed and asked, "Got something on your mind?"

Pearl said, "Do you know why I came to Eldorians?"

Louis answered seriously, "You never said. I don't know."

"I came to find a friend and uncover a secret about myself," Pearl said.

Louis's eyes darkened. "A secret about yourself? Does Eldorians have clues?"

Pearl pressed her lips and boldly said, "I want to find RavenWing!"

Louis paused.

Pearl saw a hint of surprise in his eyes. Maybe he thought it was bold of her to come alone.

"RavenWing?" Louis laughed. "Why do you think you can meet him?"

Pearl said, "I heard you have a connection with RavenWing. Also, I want to know your true identity."

Louis crossed his arms, studying her. "What do you think my identity is?"

"You're not simple. You have money, and people with money here usually have influence," Pearl speculated. "But you're good to the villagers, so you can't be bad."

Louis laughed again. "What if I'm pretending?"

"You're doing things that don't benefit you, so there's no reason for that," Pearl said confidently.

"Back to the point, what does this have to do with the person who wants you dead? Or are you just curious about my identity?" Louis asked.

Pearl played with the arrow and handed it to him. "He wants to kill me, not you. If he just wanted me dead, he'd kill us both. This person knows you and fears you but doesn't want you to know who he is. That's why I say your identity isn't simple."

Louis took the arrow, squinting slightly, with a faint smile, "You're pretty smart. You guessed right."

"You know who it is?" Pearl asked.

Louis didn't respond.

Pearl pressed on, "Seems like you know him and might be protecting him."

Her accuracy put pressure on Louis.

"It's not good for you to know too much," Louis warned. "But since you got hurt partly because of me, I won't let it happen again."

He didn't want to mess up Pearl's life.

Pearl thought for a moment. "It's okay. I'm not easy to kill."

"Let's go," Louis said, continuing to escort her.

Pearl frowned slightly, thinking, 'He didn't mention RavenWing, so he's hiding something. Maybe Louis doesn't trust me. When I mentioned RavenWing, he didn't react much. He might have a connection with RavenWing and doesn't want me to know.'

She decided Louis was a key to figuring things out and she should watch him closely.

"Ms. Harris is back!" someone shouted as Pearl and Louis arrived in the village. They had been waiting for her.

She had been at the school for a while, so it was normal for them to worry.

Oscar came out and saw her with Louis.

Oscar scrutinized Louis and walked over. "What took you so long? I was about to come get you."

Pearl said, "I lost track of time. This is Louis, a teacher at the school. And this is Oscar."

Louis smiled and extended his hand, "Hello, I've heard you saved everyone in the village."

Oscar, naturally wary, still shook his hand politely.

"I've heard about you too. You're a teacher here, but you don't seem local."

Louis said, "I'm here to teach the kids, not a local."

"That doesn't prove your identity," Oscar said quietly.

Seeing the conversation stall, Pearl, knowing Louis was respected here, said, "It's late, and I haven't eaten. Have you guys?"

Oscar looked at her. "I've been waiting for you."

"Alright, let's eat together," Pearl said with a smile, then looked at Louis. "Join us?"

"Okay," Louis agreed without hesitation.

Oscar frowned, surprised at Pearl's good relationship with Louis.

Pearl went with them to prepare dinner.

"I'll help," Louis offered, following Pearl.

Oscar stopped him, saying, "Mr. Mitchell, you're a guest. Just sit."

Louis didn't move further.

The village food was simple.

It was the first time Pearl and Louis ate together.

She noticed he wasn't picky and had elegant manners, unlike an ordinary person.

"Is there something on my face?" Louis asked when he saw Pearl staring.

Caught off guard, Pearl said, "No, I just think you're eating too little. Eat more."

To cover her embarrassment, she poured him a glass of water.

Oscar, on the side, couldn't understand Pearl. His face turned cold, thinking she was being too attentive.

Pearl, focused on finding out Louis's identity, didn't notice Oscar's expression.

The meal went smoothly.

Afterwards, Louis bid them farewell and left.

Pearl watched Louis's back, thinking if he knew who wanted to kill her, he'd definitely go see them.

Tomorrow, she must follow Louis.

"Have you seen enough?" Oscar's gloomy voice came from beside her.
