Chapter 402 Malfunction

Unlike the military vehicle they saw earlier, this one was an off-road ride, covered in dust and mud, with a big dent in the front.

Elijah got out first, opened the back door, and said, "Oscar, we're here. I found a hotel. I'll send the address so they can meet us."

"Okay," Oscar replied hoarsely, frowning as he got out.

Seeing this, Elijah quickly helped him out.

Under the sunlight, Oscar's face was pale, and his veins were visible.

Nicholas parked the vehicle and caught up with them.

Elijah grabbed the room key at the front desk, and Nicholas said, "I'll get some hemostatic medicine. You guys go to the room and wait."

They didn't notice the previous guests were Pearl and Barbara.

Twenty minutes later, Nicholas returned with medicine and food.

Oscar leaned against the headboard while Elijah treated him.

Oscar had been shot, but the bullet had passed through his scapula, so it wasn't critical.

"Oscar, want a towel?" Elijah asked.

"No need," Oscar refused, who was used to treatment without anesthesia from his military days. All he wanted was to charge his phone.

Since contacting Harold, his phone had no signal or battery. He wanted to check on Pearl.

Nicholas said, "Oscar, don't worry. I charged your phone. It should be ready soon."

"Okay."

Oscar gritted his teeth as Elijah removed the bullet. He was drenched in cold sweat by the end.

Elijah gave him a painkiller and thought of giving him water to relax.

Unexpectedly, Oscar reached out and said, "Give me the phone."

He wanted to check on Pearl. He had taken care of everything before leaving, including company matters.

Nicholas quickly handed him the phone and dialed Harold's number.

Despite the time difference, Harold answered immediately.

"Mr. Brown, you finally called. Ms. Harris went to Eldorians!"

"When did this happen?" Oscar asked, feeling his temples throb.

He had ensured everything was settled, including the divorce and neutralizing the poison in her body. 'Why did she go to Eldorians?'

Harold knew Oscar's biggest worry was Pearl. Telling him now would disturb him, but not telling him could be worse.

"It was over thirty hours ago, Mr. Brown. I couldn't reach you, but I've assigned someone to follow her."

Harold had to spill the truth.

Oscar's face turned stern. "Keep an eye on the Brown Group back home. I'll handle things here."

He hung up, hesitated, then tried calling Pearl. No signal.

'This is a war zone. Any misstep could be deadly. How could Pearl be so reckless?'

"Oscar, don't worry. I'll notify them to find Pearl. You need to rest. Otherwise, we can't proceed with the mission," Elijah said, seeing Oscar's anxious look.

Oscar never panicked, except when it came to Pearl.

"We need to find Pearl ASAP," Oscar said, wanting to go himself but knowing he couldn't. He had to meet with higher-ups.

He instructed Elijah and Nicholas, "Find Pearl. She must be heading towards Eldorians."

Pearl was likely here for Adrian and him, but she didn't know he was here on official business too.

Eldorians was vast. Until Pearl was found, he couldn't relax.

"We'll find Ms. Harris. But Oscar, you need someone with you," Elijah said.

Nicholas added, "Ms. Harris is smart. She wouldn't come alone."

Pearl had Barbara, but in a war zone, even ten Barbaras wouldn't be enough.

"You must keep trying to reach Pearl," Oscar said.

"Okay, Oscar. Rest now. I'll wake you when they arrive," Elijah said, trying to help Oscar rest.

But Oscar couldn't sleep, his mind full of Pearl.

With no other choice, Elijah knocked him out.

Meanwhile, Pearl and her group were heading towards Eldorians. At first, they saw tall buildings and people, but soon they were in a vast, empty desert with no signal.

Pearl gripped her gun tightly, worried any mishap could be fatal.

Suddenly, the vehicle stopped.

July translated, "Ms. Harris, the vehicle broke down. The driver needs to check."

Pearl waited, feeling every second was an ordeal.

"The engine's broken. No signal. I need to walk back to call for help. If you can wait, stay in the vehicle. If not, there's a tent in the trunk."

"Don't you have a radio? Can't you use the satellite for rescue?" Barbara asked.

Just then, a few people on camels approached.
