Chapter 204 Bankrupt Overnight

Not far away, Pearl spotted Oscar and called out softly.

Janetta stood beside her, worried but supportive.

They had rushed to the hospital, only to find chaos.

Oscar froze at the sound of her voice. Turning, he saw Pearl standing there, safe.

His emotions surged. The fear of losing her and the relief of seeing her again hit him hard.

He walked over and hugged her tightly.

Pearl was caught off guard, unsure where to place her hands. His grip was so tight she could barely breathe.

Oscar realized how scared he had been. He never wanted to lose her again.

Feeling her in his arms calmed him.

He stroked her hair, his voice hoarse but gentle. "Where did you go? Do you know how worried I was?"

People nearby were shocked. To them, Pearl was just a secretary. She could be dismissed if it affected the company. How could she be in Oscar's arms like this?

Even Zoey and Noah were puzzled.

Queenie, however, felt her suspicions confirmed. She had always thought Pearl might be Oscar's wife.

She had speculated before, but Pearl's evasiveness had made her doubt it.

But she had never seen Oscar so anxious.

The way he protected Pearl showed their relationship was special.

Pearl hesitated, then gently pushed him away. "I was rescued by fishermen and taken to the hospital. I didn't have anything with me, so I asked the nurse to call Janetta. I was lucky; they saved me as soon as I fell into the sea. I'm fine now."

Her words were calm, as if nothing had happened.

Oscar was momentarily thrown off by her composure. He would have preferred if she had complained or made a scene.

"Pearl, I..."

He started, feeling guilty.

Pearl covered his mouth, smiling. "It's okay, I know. Really, it's fine."

When she fell into the sea, she could have disappeared from Oscar's life. It would have been her best chance to leave.

But Kittie, Evans, and Janetta were here. She couldn't just cut off all contact.

Plus, she had fallen into the sea with Aurora. Leaving could cause more trouble later.

Pearl couldn't risk being slandered and having no chance to clear her name.

Seeing Pearl was okay, Queenie wiped her tears and walked over. "Pearl."

Pearl smiled at her. "I'm fine now."

Sure enough, as soon as Zoey saw Pearl, she got even more agitated. She was convinced Pearl was the one who hurt Aurora. "You hurt Aurora! How dare you show up here? You're here at the right time; I'll hold you accountable. Aurora's lying unconscious, and it's all because of you!"

Janetta, seeing Zoey's unreasonable behavior, snapped back, "Didn't you hear Pearl? She fell into the sea too. You're making Aurora out to be the victim, but Pearl's the real victim here. "

Zoey shot back, "Aurora would never harm anyone. Now, who's lying in the bed? Not Pearl, which means she must've hurt Aurora. I refuse to believe it was an accident! Perhaps she claimed to have fallen into the sea to conceal her own actions!"

Zoey was convinced Pearl, out of jealousy, had pushed Aurora into the sea. No one saw it happen, so Pearl could easily lie.

"You're being unreasonable. Fine, call the police and let them investigate!" Janetta challenged.

"Fine, let's investigate. I want to see how she pretends!" Zoey retorted arrogantly.

Pearl looked at Zoey calmly. "I already called the police. They'll be here soon, and everything will be clear."

Zoey sneered, "Do you have any evidence? I've already checked; the surveillance cameras in that area have been broken for days. The police won't find anything, which is why you're so calm. Anyway, for Aurora's sake, I have a hundred ways to send you to prison!"

Oscar furrowed his brow and stared coldly at Zoey. "Let's see whether it's Pearl who goes to prison or your Johnson Group goes bankrupt overnight!"

"Mr. Brown, our Johnson family isn't easily intimidated!" Noah said coldly. "If I were afraid of you, I wouldn't want this company."

Oscar's gaze shifted to Noah, a faint smile on his lips but a hidden intensity in his eyes. "Alright, let's see who wins today!"

The two families stood in confrontation, neither willing to back down.

A voice came from the ward. "Ms. Johnson has woken up!"

Zoey and Noah hurriedly ran to the ward, their previous arguments momentarily forgotten.

Zoey saw Aurora lying on the bed, pale and weak. She began to cry at the bedside. "Aurora, you're finally awake. I was so worried about you!"

Aurora, seeing them all there, weakly said, "Mom, Dad, why are you here?"

"How could we not rush here after such a harrowing experience? Your mother and I were incredibly worried," Noah expressed, his brow furrowed. Upon seeing Aurora awake, he finally let out a sigh of relief.

"I'm sorry, Mom and Dad, for making you worry," Aurora said again.

Seeing Aurora so weak, Noah and Zoey felt heartbroken. Zoey held her hand and pointed at Pearl behind her. "Aurora, it's good that you're awake. I won't stand for this injustice. Was it that woman who harmed you? Just tell me, Your dad and I will ensure she faces the consequences, even if it means facing financial ruin!"

Aurora, seeing Pearl standing there unharmed, remembered everything that happened at the dock. She had intended to push Pearl into the sea to make her disappear but ended up being pulled in herself. She had nearly lost her life!

Lying weakly on the bed while Pearl seemed unscathed and walking around, Aurora immediately became agitated. "Mom, Dad, it was her who pushed me into the sea. She wanted me dead. She tried to murder me. You have to avenge me and send her to prison. I don't want to see her ever again!"
