Chapter 456 I thought you wouldn't be afraid

Louis just smiled without saying anything.

Pearl knew he was testing her.

Louis kept watching her, but she stayed calm.

"Pearl, you're smart. You can figure things out. I just need to know, are you Carol?" Louis dropped his smile.

He didn't want to beat around the bush anymore. This was all that mattered to him.

Pearl's heart sank.

She had thought about this possibility but didn't want to face it without solid proof. Even with the test results, Louis still pushed it.

Pearl found it ridiculous. "You think a cross bracelet proves I'm your sister? Jeffery had that bracelet before. Is Jeffery your sister? If you're still curious, go ask your Carol."

"I don't like her," Louis admitted.

Carol had been missing for years, and he had searched for so long. When Kevin brought Carol back, he felt nothing.

It wasn't the same as before with Carol.

He trusted his gut. This "Carol" was an imposter.

Carol was found by Kevin, RavenWing's most loyal guy. Carol was grateful to Kevin and had dealings with him.

But Louis had also found out Kevin's ambitions had grown.

Kevin had Donald poison Pearl and Oscar. These were facts. And then there was Haley!

Pearl noticed Louis's darkening expression but knew she couldn't trust him.

She pressed her lips together and said softly, "You have your own ideas. Prove it however you want. Just leave me out of it."

"Louis, you and I are not on the same path."

Louis was good to the villagers, helping them, but so what?

RavenWing destroyed the southern villagers' homes. People were dead or injured, even the kids.

Louis was RavenWing's son. That cold blood wouldn't change.

Louis knew what Pearl was thinking. A mocking smile crossed his lips. "I don't trust the people in this lab. We'll go outside for the test. Pearl, you're smart. Haven't you ever suspected?"

Pearl stayed silent.

She had doubted herself before. She felt she might be connected to RavenWing, because of those memories that popped up sometimes, but Louis had secretly done a test, which showed she wasn't his sister.

Jeffery had only given her a cross bracelet, which meant nothing. And those memories might just be from her illness.

"Don't talk to me about this. I don't want to hear it. I'm not Carol. Carol has already been found. And what good does it do you to prove I'm Carol?"

Pearl waved her hand, clearly resistant now.

She didn't want to be linked to the evil RavenWing.

But she had a point. What would Louis gain by proving she was Carol?

Louis's face turned cold. He hadn't expected Pearl to think he had ulterior motives.

Louis chuckled. "There's no benefit for me. I don't like that Carol. I just want to know if it's you. I trust my instincts."

Louis trusted his gut, but Pearl didn't. She felt a chill. She had just convinced herself she had nothing to do with RavenWing.

Now Louis was bringing it all up again.

She didn't want to do this test!

"I won't do it!" Pearl resisted.

But she was no match for Giovanni.

He restrained her with one hand and quickly drew a vial of blood from her neck with a syringe.

Pearl pressed her neck and glared at Louis. "You really are RavenWing's son!"

He was as ruthless as RavenWing, ignoring others' wishes and forcing them.

Louis's lips moved slowly. "If you did as I said, none of this would be happening. Pearl, this is good for both of us."

With that, Louis stood up and gave Giovanni a look.

Giovanni got the message.

To ensure accurate results, he would divide the sample into three parts for testing. He'd also run tests involving both Louis and Carol.

Giovanni went to work, and Louis left.

Now, only Pearl was left in the room, feeling suffocated.

She couldn't stay here any longer. She had to find a way to escape!

Then Carol arrived.

This time, Louis had Carol come to see Pearl.

Carol and Pearl locked eyes, and Carol looked at Pearl with disdain. "I didn't expect you to be so tough. Even here, you haven't been affected at all."

Pearl had strong emotions, but she wouldn't let Carol see her as an easy target.

"I haven't been affected or hurt. Are you disappointed?"

Pearl's eyes were cold.

She stood up and walked towards Carol step by step.

Pearl thought Carol's figure was similar to Haley's, but the voice and appearance were different. Plus, there had been no news of Haley for a long time.

Carol was targeting her simply because she was close to Louis.

"I am. But since Louis likes you, I'll treat you well."

Carol's lips curled into a sarcastic smile. Her gaze at Pearl was filled with contempt. She didn't take Pearl seriously at all.

Pearl retorted, "I don't need you to treat me well."

Pearl turned her back on Carol, which made Carol furious. "Pearl, don't be ungrateful!"

What did Pearl have to be arrogant about? There was nothing remarkable about her.

Pearl's smile remained. "Are you a princess or a king? Do your words even matter?"

"You! Pearl, I'm going to teach you a lesson!"

With that, Carol quickly made a move, but Pearl dodged it.

Pearl had learned combat from Barbara and had been secretly practicing. She could avoid close-range attacks.

However, Carol then pulled out a handgun.

The black muzzle pointed at Pearl's head, and Carol's eyes were filled with triumph.

Seeing Pearl freeze, Carol smirked. "Pearl, you are scared after all. I thought you weren't afraid of anything."
