Chapter 521 Experience

Leaving Christopher here was the best move.

"I know what you're thinking. You think keeping Christopher with you will make Charles believe you're totally unguarded." RavenWing muttered, "Don't forget, he's the President of Serenea. You know how cutthroat he can be."

Pearl went quiet. 'I missed that.'

"Alright, Christopher stays with you. I'll go with Oscar."

"If everything's cool, you can come back for Christopher. Pearl, I just want to make up for what I owe you. Trust me, even if I kick the bucket, I won't let anything happen to Christopher." RavenWing's voice was rough and dead serious.

Pearl's breath caught.

She could see how much RavenWing cared about Christopher.

"Dad." Pearl reached out and hugged him.

RavenWing patted her shoulder and said, "Pearl, sticking with the Eldorians is your best bet. But I can't make you stay. Take care of yourself."

He was already getting choked up.

When he first heard Pearl wanted to be a war correspondent, he was totally against it. But Louis talked him into it.

Once Pearl made up her mind, she wouldn't back down. Whatever she decided, she was all in.

He was worried and had a bunch of people watching over her. Louis was with the Tranquiloria forces at the time. They all thought it was safe.

But Charles's reach was huge.

At first, RavenWing thought the Haley Kevin brought back was really Carol. He wanted to teach Carol shooting, combat skills, and make it up to her.

He wanted to be both soft and tough.

Later, when he found out Carol was a fake, his first reaction wasn't anger but heartbreak for Pearl as he almost killed her.

"I know, I have a lot left to do. I won't let myself die." Pearl's throat hurt, and her voice was already breaking.

They talked for a long time before RavenWing finally left.

Pearl was in her thirties. She could think for herself, and Oscar was with her too.

RavenWing couldn't stay by Pearl's side forever.

After he left, Oscar walked over to Pearl.

"Got all your stuff packed?" Oscar asked, his voice rough.

"Yeah."

As soon as Pearl answered, Oscar pulled her into his arms, stroking the back of her head, "Or, I..."

"Oscar, I've made up my mind, and you're still hesitating?" Pearl cut him off before he could finish.

As soon as Oscar opened his mouth, she knew what he meant.

Oscar was scared of things going sideways, but she was dead set on sticking with him no matter what. She wouldn't let him back out.

"Okay." Oscar stroked her cheek and kissed her.

Pearl's breath caught, and she slowly kissed him back.

Christopher was a good kid. Pearl only had to say it once for him to get it. He held Pearl's hand and said, "Mom, I'll wait for you and Dad here."

Parting was already tough, but when Christopher said that, it felt like a knife twisting in their hearts.

"We'll definitely come back together to get you," Pearl and Oscar said in unison.

They had no choice.

They had to move forward without looking back, and Christopher watched them leave without crying.

RavenWing was super patient with Christopher. "What do you want? I'll give you anything. Wanna go out and play, or go to school?"

Christopher was already five. In the Eldorians, kids his age were in their last year of kindergarten, about to start first grade. Because of his health, Christopher hadn't gone to school yet.

But all kids love to play and make friends.

He looked up at RavenWing with hope and said, "Grandpa, I wanna go to school."

Since Christopher wanted that, RavenWing was all in to make it happen. Louis had taught in the northern part of the Eldorians, so taking Christopher to Louis was the best move.

Then RavenWing informed Louis.

Louis was stoked to hear Christopher wanted to go to school. He immediately set up one-on-one lessons for him.

But RavenWing wasn't having it. "Christopher wants to go to school, so he should. Why else would I bring him to you?"

Sure, Louis had experience in education and knew his stuff, but who knew he'd want to teach one-on-one?

Louis said, "I know. I thought I'd let him get familiar first. Then..."

"Then what? Christopher's smart. He'll catch on quick. Does he really need to learn anything special?" RavenWing cut him off sternly.

RavenWing and Louis both thought Christopher was sharp, but he was different from other kids.

Christopher had just had major surgery and wasn't fully recovered. He'd been kept by Charles and hadn't had the chance to make friends.

When Louis explained, RavenWing got it. "In that case, it's simple. Get a few kids to come over and let him get used to it here first. If all's good, then send him to school."

Louis's concerns were valid, but school and home were different.

Since RavenWing decided to send Christopher to school, he wouldn't keep him cooped up at home.

"Okay."

Louis made arrangements, and soon, several kids Christopher's age were brought over. They'd been prepped and were well-behaved, so they came over quietly and obediently, not daring to act out.

But they looked at Christopher with curious eyes.

One kid even asked, "Are you really Ms. Mitchell and Oscar's kid? You look so sickly."

"Are you sure you can go to school like this?"

They only dared to ask cautiously. After all, the adults had told them not to bully Christopher.
