Chapter 462 Encounter
Louis smirked. "Let Kevin have his fun for now."
Giovanni stayed silent but got the message.
Oscar went back to the Eldorians, using his old disguise trick.
Before he could blend in, he got a call from an Eldorian number.
He remembered Pearl using Louis's phone to call him and picked up quickly.
"Looking for Pearl?" a woman's voice asked.
Oscar instantly knew it was Louis's sister, Carol, given the number and info.
Oscar's face darkened. "What do you want?"
"You don't get to ask. If you want Pearl back, do as I say," Carol said, smugly.
She knew Oscar would do anything for Pearl.
But Oscar hung up without a word.
He'd been dealing with Louis. If someone else took over, Louis would have told him. He didn't trust anyone else.
Carol was furious hearing the busy tone.
'Who does Oscar think he is, acting all high and mighty?'
But she couldn't call back and Oscar wouldn't reach out again.
Still, she was sure she'd win.
Three days later, Pearl had a high fever and was almost hallucinating.
She felt like she was back on the day she gave birth, seeing the baby's wrinkled face.
Then, she saw the baby's blue eyes, shining like sapphires.
Suddenly, Oscar was holding the baby, beaming. "Pearl, the baby is healthy. We'll be happy together."
Pearl reached out, and everything went dark.
She passed out. Meanwhile, the lab was in chaos because Kevin had ordered nothing should happen to her, and now they couldn't detect any life signs.
"No! Mr. Garcia, the woman you brought in—she's dead!"
The urgent voice reached Kevin. The guy reporting was so frantic he knocked things over.
Kevin glared and struck him down.
He rushed to Pearl and quickly took action.
When she showed a faint sign of life, he gave her some pills.
After a minute, Pearl slowly opened her eyes.
Seeing Kevin, she sneered. "You care if I'm dead or not?"
It felt like a dream but was very real.
But Pearl knew it was fake. The child was dead, and she and Oscar were apart.
Kevin looked coldly at her. His experiment was at a critical stage. He couldn't let her die.
The commotion in the lab caught Jeffery's attention from the container.
Kevin's lab was staffed 24/7, but Jeffery couldn't stay submerged in the container all the time. When his body started to swell, they'd pull him out.
He'd endured all the experiments these past few days.
As RavenWing's most successful subject, he'd built up resistance to Kevin's tests.
When a lab tech came to inject him, Jeffery fought back, grabbed the syringe, and jabbed it into the guy's neck.
He dragged the guy under the table, stripped off his protective suit, and put on the mask.
Then he tossed the guy into the container to make it look like he was still inside.
Jeffery knew the lab inside out. He moved around and soon spotted Pearl!
Panicking, he rushed over. "Carol."
His familiar voice made Pearl look up.
She couldn't see his whole face but recognized his eyes.
"Jeffery, how did you get here?" she asked, shocked.
She didn't expect Jeffery to have infiltrated the Eldorians' inner circle!
Jeffery had left the Eldorians but was now here, clearly for her.
Pearl was overwhelmed. Jeffery was equally shocked and thrilled.
He'd come back to find Pearl, but Kevin had captured him. Now, seeing her alive, he was overjoyed.
He couldn't wait to get her out, even if it meant risking his life.
Jeffery grabbed her hand. "We're making a run for it tonight."
He'd escaped the Eldorians once; he could do it again. Plus, with the protective suit, no one would notice anything off for a while.
Pearl nodded but thought of Chiara. If she left and Chiara stirred things up, what would happen?
But she hadn't heard any news in days. Maybe no news was good news.
"Carol, what are you thinking?" Jeffery asked, noticing her distraction.
Pearl explained. "Jeffery, I met a girl here. I want to find her before we go."
Jeffery patted her head. "Carol, we don't have time. You need to follow me. I can only ensure your safety now. We need to protect ourselves first."
He untied her and took her hand, leading her out.
Thanks to the protective suit, no one stopped them, and the way was clear.
It was so smooth it made Pearl uneasy after being confined for so long.
She twisted her ankle and almost fell, but Jeffery caught her in time. She endured the pain silently.
As they reached the door, someone stopped them. "Where are you going?"
