Chapter 325 I'm Going Abroad

Haley heard the chatter and knew it was about her. Determined not to lose to Pearl, she smiled and told the crew, "Oscar and I are treating everyone to a meal. Order whatever you want, it's on us!"

"Feast time!" The crew cheered.

"Thanks, Haley. Thanks, Mr. Brown. Haley's so generous, no wonder she would be Mr. Brown's wife."

Haley felt proud and content. Wanting to live up to the title, she added, "You've all worked hard. Eat well so you have the energy to keep going. Oscar and I hope this show is a big hit!"

Everyone raised their soft drinks in a toast. Mae quickly took note of everyone's orders.

Emma watched Haley, thinking she was already acting high and mighty even though she wasn't officially Mr. Brown's wife yet. She couldn't understand why Pearl divorced Oscar or why he was now with Haley. It all seemed unfair to Pearl.

'Oscar hadn't even announced his marriage publicly, but now he's flaunting his relationship with Haley. Is he just trampling on Pearl's feelings?' Emma thought, feeling her respect for Oscar diminish.

Pearl noticed too. Seeing Haley and Oscar together, everyone thought they were a perfect couple. Not wanting to lose, Pearl turned to Adrian and said, "This is delicious, try it."

She fed Adrian a piece of pastry. Surprised, he took a bite. "Thanks, it's good."

Oscar saw this and his eyes turned cold.

"I was right, wasn't I?" Pearl smiled. "You've been taking care of everyone and haven't had time for yourself."

Adrian replied gently, "I'm used to it. I like taking care of others."

"You've helped me a lot; let me take care of you too." Pearl fed him another bite.

Adrian smiled and chewed. "Okay."

Pearl wiped his mouth with a napkin.

Suddenly, a glass shattered. Oscar, filled with cold anger, had crushed his wine glass in his hand.

"Mr. Brown, are you okay?" Everyone was worried.

Haley quickly grabbed his hand. "Oscar, let me see. There's a cut. Mae, get the first aid kit!" She was acting dramatically and bossing Mae around.

Mae rushed to get it. Oscar, bleeding but numb to the pain, felt a deeper hurt in his heart.

The commotion caught Pearl's attention. She and Oscar locked eyes. His gaze was cold and resentful, as if blaming her for being close to Adrian.

"Oscar, does it hurt?" Haley asked, blowing on the wound and using a napkin to stop the bleeding.

Oscar didn't answer; his eyes weren't on Haley.

Pearl smirked and said mockingly, "Better bandage it up, or it'll heal on its own!"

Haley shot back, "I don't expect you to care, but can you not be so sarcastic?"

"Sarcastic? I'm just stating a fact," Pearl replied. "A scratch is nothing to him."

Haley insisted, "Even if it's just a scratch, I still feel bad."

She grabbed the first aid kit to treat his wound, but Oscar pulled his hand back. "No need," he said coldly, clenching his fist. "It's a small wound; it'll heal in a couple of days."

"No," Haley insisted. "It needs to be treated. Listen to me, it might get infected."

Pearl chimed in, "Let her take a look. She cares about you, and it might keep her up at night."

Oscar's face darkened, feeling uncomfortable.

Pearl just watched, not wanting to play along.

Emma, who loved gossip, couldn't help but tell Pearl how pretentious Haley was. Pearl had dealt with Haley's act many times. Haley's fragility made her popular, and now she was back with Oscar.

Pearl went to the restroom, washed her face, and came out. She was about to leave when she found Oscar outside. Before she could react, Oscar slipped in and closed the door.

Pearl was shocked. "What are you doing? This is the ladies' room!"

Oscar locked the door. Pearl was nervous but calmed down seeing his deep eyes.

After a long pause, Oscar spoke, "Did you go to my place?"

Pearl lowered her eyes. "So what if I did?"

Oscar frowned. "Did I say anything to you that night?"

Oscar had said a lot that night, but she had nothing to dwell on. "You were drunk. What could you have said? Drunken words aren't reliable."

"If you have nothing else to say, I'll go first." She tried to walk past him.

Oscar grabbed her hand. Pearl didn't turn around and said coldly, "Mr. Brown, you have a fiancée now. If someone sees this, it won't be good for Haley. Treat her well."

She pulled her hand away forcefully, while Oscar looked at her, his hand gripping tightly. All his words of longing stayed in his heart. He could only look at her and remember how she looked now. She was living a good life, and he had to endure and restrain himself.

Pearl struggled to free her hand. Eventually, she broke free, opened the door, and walked out. They were only separated by a door, but once they couldn't see each other, their faces turned somber.

Pearl paused, feeling an emptiness inside as if she had lost something. Her heart was in torment. She took a deep breath, looked up at the sky, and tried to stay strong.

Back on set, Adrian was about to leave. Pearl went to see him off.

Adrian stopped and looked back at her. "I'm going abroad."

The sudden news caught Pearl off guard. "A business trip?"

"No," Adrian said with deep emotion. "I might be in danger. I don't know exactly what will happen, but I have to go."

"Why do you have to go to such a dangerous place?" Pearl asked, confused.
