Chapter 149 Are You Jealous?
Hathaway's face darkened.
Oscar wasn't avoiding everyone; he was clearly avoiding Hathaway!
Determined, Hathaway insisted on going inside.
But after taking just a couple of steps, several security guards appeared in front of Hathaway. The lead guard addressed her formally, "Miss, please don't make this difficult," the lead guard said. "If you want Mr. Brown, call him or find him at home."
"Think about it, with so many people around, if someone sees this and it gets online, it wouldn't be good!" The guard reminded Hathaway.
Hathaway seethed. They blocked her deliberately, and Oscar wouldn't answer now. All for Pearl's sake.
Fine! Oscar went this far for Pearl! Hathaway left in a rage.
In the CEO's office.
Since bringing Pearl back, Oscar had gone into his office to handle documents, and Pearl, not wanting to be idle, had started up her computer at her workstation.
Soon, Sarah brought coffee.
"Pearl, bring me the Johnson Group agreement.."
"Okay."
Pearl found it and walked in the office.
Oscar sipped Sarah's coffee as Pearl entered. "Good coffee."
"That's all thanks to Pearl's instructions. Mr. Brown, what would you like for dinner tonight? I'll prepare it for you," Sarah responded, not forgetting to praise Pearl.
After a moment of silence, Oscar slowly said, "I trust you. You can decide for me."
Pearl felt a pang. She'd been with him, but he never said that. "Trust" meant a lot.
Sarah was new. Pearl hired her to ease leaving. Sarah did well, Oscar approved. Pearl should be glad. But why was she feeling down?
Oscar's voice suddenly broke her thoughts. "What are you thinking about? Hand in the document to me."
"Nothing."
Pearl quickly stopped her thoughts and handed the document to Oscar.
Oscar took it and also said to Pearl, "Any dinner ideas, tell Sarah. She's capable."
"Okay."
Pearl felt worse. Oscar acknowledged Sarah more. She handed over the document and meant to leave.
But Oscar called her back, "Give me a head massage."
"Why don't you ask Sarah to do it?" Pearl bit her lip, the words slipping out before she could think.
Oscar didn't respond immediately; his eyes quietly fixed on Pearl, making her feel uneasy. At this moment, Pearl began to regret asking such a question.
As Pearl lowered her head, Oscar asked her, "Pearl, are you jealous?"
At the same time, a hint of a smile lingered at the corner of Oscar's mouth
Pearl was stunned.
But Pearl was Oscar's wife, deeply in love with him. It was impossible for her not to feel anything seeing Oscar acknowledge someone else while they were still married.
Pearl lowered her head. "No, I just said it casually. Don't take it to heart. I know about our agreement, and you know I love someone else."
She knew admitting this would likely anger Oscar, but she had to.
Pearl had a bit of pride and didn't want Oscar to think she was jealous.
After Pearl said this, Oscar's smile vanished instantly. He said grimly, "In the company, you are my secretary. When I ask you to do something, you just need to nod and agree."
In other words, stop talking nonsense.
Pearl nodded, "Okay."
Then, Pearl walked towards Oscar.
Pearl's touch was very gentle, and the faint fragrance on her body made Oscar feel very comfortable. Before long, he closed his eyes and relaxed completely.
Meanwhile, Hathaway had already arrived at the Harris' home.
Since Hathaway had attacked Pearl at the hospital last time, Kittie had a bad impression of her. Seeing Hathaway this time, Kittie's expression turned even colder.. "What are you doing here?"
Hathaway, carrying a Chanel handbag, looked down at Kittie condescendingly. "Your daughter and Oscar are in a contractual marriage. They got married for a million dollars. Tell me, how much do you want now to agree to a divorce?"
Hathaway's words made Kittie even angrier.
Kittie grabbed a broom nearby and was about to chase Hathaway away. "They will divorce naturally when the contract ends. But since they haven't divorced yet, it must be because Oscar is clinging to Pearl! Don't insult us with money. If Oscar Brown had no ulterior motives, why would he marry Pearl?"
Evans wasn't home today, so it was a battle between two women.
Hathaway didn't anticipate Kittie's strong reaction. Already incensed, Hathaway grew even more furious. "You think Oscar is clinging to Pearl? That's absurd. Let me be clear, Pearl is not my ideal daughter-in-law! If she hadn't played some tricks, do you really think Oscar's grandfather would have chosen Pearl as his daughter-in-law?"
Hathaway continued, "I'm telling you now, make Pearl divorce Oscar quickly, or don't blame me for being rude!"
"Get out now!"
Kittie had always been kind and had never had a conflict with anyone. Hathaway's behavior today really made her angry.
Not only did she treat people without respect, but she also came to their house to cause trouble!
This wasn't a lady; this was a shrew!
After driving Hathaway out, Kittie immediately called Pearl.
"Pearl, didn't you tell me you and Oscar were getting a divorce? Have you set a date yet?"
Since they were thinking about divorce, it was better to do it sooner to avoid entanglements with unreasonable people like Hathaway and being slandered in the end!
But Kittie never expected that the voice on the other end of the phone would be Oscar's. "Pearl and I have not set a date for divorce, and we will not divorce."
Oscar's face was dark, he didn't expect that even Kittie wanted Oscar and Pearl to divorce!
Kittie was surprised, but after a few seconds, she quickly said, "Oscar, since I made this call, you'd better divorce soon. I really can't deal with your mother!"
