Chapter 352 Is RavenWing Scary?

"The anesthesia wearing off will hurt a bit, but hang in there. You'll feel better in a couple of days," Pearl reassured her.

Barbara relaxed. "It's okay, pain doesn't bother me. I'm just happy to see you again."

Pearl sat beside her, holding her hand tightly. "You'll see me often now. Everything you want will come true."

Barbara nodded, feeling content. She felt valued and loved, even if just a little, and that was enough for her."I want some water."

Pearl quickly got her some water, and Barbara drank it down in a few gulps. She felt relieved; her throat didn't hurt as much anymore.

"Do you want to rest a bit more?" Pearl asked.

Barbara shook her head. "No, I don't want to sleep. I want to savor this moment, even if I'm in the hospital. At least now I'm living like a normal person."

Without Donald's control, she felt free. Having faced death, she cherished life and wanted to live without regrets.

Seeing someone guarding outside, she asked, "Who's outside? What are they doing at our door?"

"Elijah," Pearl answered. "Don't worry about it, just focus on recovering."

Barbara understood. "I get it. Since I was close to Donald, it's normal to be under strict watch."

Pearl bit her lip, worried Barbara might be upset. But Barbara smiled. "Elijah looks pretty cute."

Pearl followed Barbara's gaze. Elijah stood there in a military stance, not moving an inch. "He's with Oscar."

"Oscar has such a goofy guy with him," Barbara laughed.

Pearl raised an eyebrow. To Barbara, Elijah seemed amusing, making her happy. But there was serious business to attend to.

"Barbara, do you know Haley's father?" Pearl asked, hoping to get information from Barbara that Elijah couldn't provide.

Barbara's smile froze. "You mean Kevin?"

Pearl asked, "Does he have a grudge against Donald?"

Barbara replied, "No grudge. They're both under RavenWing. Kevin loves doing experiments, while Donald is more about brute force. Now that Donald has betrayed them, it has angered Kevin. I suspect Oscar is working with Kevin to take down Donald. Kevin won't let Donald go, especially since Donald has leverage over Kevin."

"What is that?" Pearl asked.

Barbara hesitated. "I don't know. Donald never told me. I only know it's about Haley. It must be something that threatens Kevin's safety, making him wary. They all still fear RavenWing."

"Is RavenWing that terrifying?"

Barbara nodded seriously. "RavenWing is definitely terrifying. No one dares to disobey him. Donald thought he could escape his notice from afar, but what was the result? He'll still die! I've never seen RavenWing. He's like a myth. I've only heard of him. He's quite mysterious."

"Kevin and Oscar are teaming up to eliminate Donald, while Kevin was working for RavenWing," Pearl pondered, her face changing as she realized something. "Kevin is RavenWing's confidant. Is Oscar trying to get close to Kevin?"

Barbara looked confused. "What are you talking about?"

Pearl glanced outside again, noticing Elijah's occasional unease. She felt her guess was partly correct. 'Oscar, wanting to gain Kevin's trust, would certainly take some measures. And he and Haley hadn't shown up yet.'

"Elijah, did Oscar go to see Kevin?" Pearl immediately asked him.

Elijah hesitated. "Oscar will come back. Don't worry too much. If he returns, I'll inform you right away."

Barbara realized something and told Pearl, "If Oscar really went to see Kevin, it might be for the antidote. Kevin can make medicine; he must have his own lab. He learned this from RavenWing. He wouldn't waste his skills!"

Pearl's face darkened as she looked at Elijah again. "Why didn't you follow him? I didn't see any action from you. Did Oscar go alone? Isn't that very dangerous?"

Elijah was at a loss. "Oscar didn't let us follow him."

"Can't you tell the truth?" Barbara got anxious. "Before I came out, I saw Oscar with Haley. They must have gone together. Haley is Kevin's daughter; she can definitely take him to see Kevin. As for how, I don't know."

Elijah looked at the injured Barbara, still talking, feeling upset. "Can you stop talking? You're a suspect. If you keep this up, I'll throw you in jail!"

He wanted to scare Barbara into silence, but Barbara wasn't easily scared. She didn't want him to feel too comfortable. "You're quite fierce, using your officer status to intimidate. Does your superior know?"

"You!" Elijah was infuriated by her arrogance.

"Elijah," Pearl called him. "Don't blame Barbara. Even if she didn't say anything, I would have figured it out. Do you think I wouldn't suspect anything when Oscar suddenly divorced me? I'm just angry that he didn't stand by me, didn't share the truth with me. He wanted to bear everything on his own. Has he ever respected me?"

Elijah tried to explain, "Oscar didn't want you to suffer."

"And by doing so, did I not suffer?" Pearl retorted. "He always thinks from his own perspective, never from mine!"

Barbara added, "All men are like this. They think they're doing the right thing, but in the end, it's the women who get hurt."

Elijah glared at Barbara, mouthing, "Shut up, are you trying to make things worse?"

Barbara snorted, completely ignoring his warning.

Pearl asked again, "When will you take action?"

"It's not the right time yet," Elijah said. "But as soon as there's any development, we'll act immediately."

"I want to go too!"

"No, it's too dangerous," Elijah refused.

"I won't go in. I'll stay in the car," Pearl said calmly.

Elijah thought it might be acceptable, as long as her safety was ensured.

"Kevin, will Oscar be okay? Why hasn't he woken up yet?" Haley asked anxiously, looking at Oscar lying on the sofa.
